Tata seems to be taking the SUV game to a whole new level in terms of pricing, customizations, styling what not !
Good to see that Mahindra has got some great competition from India grown brands itself, that's a great achievement in itself..
Also, I think if priced well, it will leave a huge dent to the sales of Creta

So time for some analysis
1. test mule seems to have done close to 26K
2. distance to empty shows 1572km and tank is almost 90% fulll so that gives us a range of 1750km for a tankful if we consider average to be 25kmpl and tank capacity to be 70 liters.
These are really fantastic if not mindblowing numbers from Harrier for the people who want to know kitna deti hai.
Why did i consider 25kmpl because if the average is less then we would need a 100+ liter fuel tank to give that range to empty of 1572 km.
"MIND YOU GUYS THESE ARE JUST ASSUMPTION BASED CALCULATIONS"
Steering Pad looks great and of Good Quality.
It is showing IFE 30 so calculating DTE accordingly as the RPM is around 1000 which means its standing and just got the ignition on.

TML may be going with Hyundai's AT rather than ZF which will be expensive for the segment. Whether this Korean torque converter available in any other model sold in India ?

It is not showing 30kmpl. Its showing 0. Just see the white mark on the digital meter, its at 0.

By the look of it, if the DTE is right, then expect a fuel tank of somewhere around 70ltrs. My Sumo Grande already had 65ltrs tank. So 70-75ltrs is not far off.

Amazing Looking & best design so far after my first love Safari from Tata

The spy shot of the front clearly shows that Tata hasn't deviated from the concept H5X's design with the thin lighting element accompanied by another cluster positioned below it which appears to house a projector lens (likely for the low beam) and dynamic bending reflector lens (for the high beam).

TeamBHP member 'SneakyFunk' has snapped these images of a Tata Harrier prototype testing near the company's facility in Pune, Maharashtra.

I came across the seven seater variant while going to Pune (just after Bhigwan) last Saturday night. Though I could not see the last row seats, the vehicle does look massive and I assume it must be 7 seater. It had steel wheels. I followed it for close to 15-20 minutes till Yavat where it took a U turn. It does have a very good road presence.
Sorry, could not take any pics.

Great Images,

Have to say, this definitely is a looker.. Just look at the stance of it, looks magificient..

Nothing can stop this from being a great success unless Tata gets over confident and price it higher something like what Ford did with the Global Fiesta or what Tata did with Aria...

Hopefully if they also improve their service capabilities then there can nothing that can stop them from being a top OEM in India

When you have Aria, you still felt the 7 seater was massive? I thought Aria was a beast. Then that q502 must be some car.Waiting to see it in steel.

Well there could be one of these many things.
  • This car got only 4 star ratings we were expecting 5 stars
  • If the car gets 5 star and price shoots up due to that, "oh this is too costly who will plonk big 15 or 16 or 20 on this car? suddenly XUV make even more sense."
  • If the car doesnt get sunroof, and other over the top blings, hey you dont get that in a multi million car.
  • Biggest of all, Hey this is Tata, not sure how the car will age.

Few observations from the spy shots:
# So the front styling remains the same
# Headlights & Projectors and fog lamp in one casing on the lower side of the bumper and LED DRL above instead of conventional headlight place.
# Rear styling toned down and styled plain and simple
# Rear lights got the same design from the concept and along emerging (end to end treatment)
# Front windshield is pretty big or we can say massive in size which will create a big and squate stance footprint and maybe that's why people & members say it looks massive

Tata Harrier to get online configurator upon launch – Just like Jaguar Land Rover cars

Upon launch, Tata Harrier (H5X concept) five-seater SUV will enable customers to choose more of what they want from their car.

Tata Motors will be introducing a 3D graphics-based digital configurator that lets customers decide on an engine, brakes, suspension, seating config, and add-on kits. Once keyed in, the specs will be accessed by the back-end manufacturing and supply chain to build the car to specifics.

Tata Nexon offers customization options limited to colour and accessories. Tata Harrier configurator is a departure from this trend and involves an elaborate front-end process, which will help the automaker streamline marketing efforts, improve operational efficiency, and save costs.

This is a first in segment feature. Until now, such features were only offered by premium luxury car makers like Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and the likes. As a customer, you will have the full freedom to design / configure your car, and see it digitally ready even before you go to the dealership and pay booking amount.

Tata Motors’ ‘Do it Yourself’ (DIY) strategy will also be implemented in the company’s truck business, enabling vehicle configuration as per requirement, an absolute need to meet varied transportation needs. Tata Harrier based on the modular Omega platform is scheduled for launch in Q4 of the current FY (before March 2019). The platform will breathe life into multiple models and enable parts sharing. Cars built on Omega and Alpha platform will enable buyer configuration.

Designed by Tata Motors’ engineering team, the configuration will be made a part of the company’s existing eGuru app. Through the buying process, as a buyer approaches a dealership, a sales rep will explain all available options, and a unique configuration ID will be assigned for customer identification.

Choices keyed in by a customer and the config ID will be loaded onto Tata Motors’ CRM system to proceed with order confirmation, and payment processing. All data input will be accessed on TML SAP system for production, internal tracking, and until vehicle handover/delivery.

A rival to the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass, new Tata Harrier H5X will be offered with a 2.0 liter diesel engine mated to a MT and AT. 2WD as well 4WD options will on offer. Price range expected is Rs 12-15 lakhs.

some more news on Harrier

Quoting what TBHP member tushky and carguynish have mentioned:

What tushky has to say is
Saw newly born Tata Harrier today. Dont ask me where. Trust me, the suv looks exactly similar to the concept. The H7X or 7 seater version of Harrier is not yet out for a test. From all these days we have been seeing 5 seater versions only. The seven seater is little boxy from behind yet unique and beautiful.
what carguynish mention is as follows:
  • Trial Production is to start at the end of this year, Mostly November Last Week.
  • Company has already set up two fabrication lines in its Pune plant to accommodate the upcoming Tata Harrier SUV and the Tata X451 Premium Hatchback.
  • Some modifications have been made to the plant to accommodate the Harrier SUV.
  • Harrier is expected to be launched in 5 Seater guise first.
  • 7 Seater will also made in same plant, but it'll be bit different compared to 5 Seater which is exactly like Concept. 7 Seater will arrive at later stage.
  • Launch is expected in January/February 2019.
  • This assembly line will be Automated around 70-80%.
  • 2WD & 4WD will be available. 4WD will be a new one developed specifically for Harrier.
  • Tata is also expected to launch Petrol Harrier at later stage. At launch only Diesel (2.0 Multijet) will be available, with choice of 6 Speed Manual / 6 Speed Automatic.
  • 7 Seater has been developed keeping in mind 3rd Row Comfort. Most SUVs don't have Comfortable 3rd Row. Either they are too narrow(Seat Width) or high(Floor Area).
  • While the 3rd Row in Harrier 7 Seater won't be as comfortable as 2nd Row, Tata has made changes to Windows & Railings of 2nd row in order to make 3rd row spacious.
  • 7 Seater will be longer and will have larger wheelbase then 5 Seater.
  • Expect some fancy stuff like Blinds for 3rd row, proper Rear AC Coil, Electric Folding Seats, Removable seats to make it's way in 7 Seater exclusively.

2018 Tata Harrier H5X will be exported from India – May get a new name

At the 2018 Auto Expo, one of the most talked about product was the Tata H5X SUV concept and recently, Tata revealed the official name for the production variant of the same, The Tata Harrier. The SUV has been spied testing multiple times and is expected to make its market debut in the last quarter of current fiscal year.

To be exclusively manufactured in India by Tata Motors, this Land Rover based SUV will also be exported to many countries abroad. If we are to believe a report, the Harrier will also be exported to new countries, where Tata is not even present today, like the UK.

Tata Harrier is a global car, made for the new generation. Expected to set new benchmarks in quality, features and performance, the new Tata SUV will get a new name if launched outside India. Tata Harrier H5X SUV LED headlight, LED tail lamp – First spy shots from night testing

These are the first ever images of the Land Rover based Tata Harrier H5X SUV in production ready guise showing LED headlight and taillight at work. Hat tip to automotive enthusiasts at the Facebook page The Next COG for these exclusive spy shots.

Based on the all new OMEGA platform, the 2018 Tata Harrier H5X will launch in India later this year, or early next year. Ahead of that Tata Motors has been testing the car extensively across the country.

And as we inch closer to Tata harrier launch, here’s the latest camouflage guise of Tata Harrier H5X SUV. While it’s split all-LED headlights have gotten much attention, the production ready headlight and taillight presence has now been seen after dark. And boy is it distinctively recognisable from up front.

Tata Motors had discussed carrying forward most of the concept car elements in its production ready variant, and they’e doing a swell job at it. This evening’s spyshots put focus on just how much of the front houses a light element and how much of it is an integrated design line.

The sleek split headlight with the DRL split on top is angular and not of uniform width. The base is wider as it angles upward to a narrower end. What this essentially also means is with the front headlight setup on full duty, it’s a 3 tier light set up – DRLs, headlights, and fog lights.

The LED treatment continues at the rear as well. Seen here are the rear LED tail lights illuminating the rear section, and giving the car a unique look on our roads. The all LED taillights wraparound sees the narrower end of it on the back door. The set up is held within an obtuse triangle layout.

This particular Tata Harrier SUV test vehicle was spotted just outside Pune in front of Sayaji hotel and can be seen effortlessly navigating horrid roads, even through a puddle and bad roads.

The test mule is still running on the 5 petal alloys that have been in use in previous sightings. On the inside is a sleek yet wide floating display, and by the size of that thing, as of now it would be, “Can’t get my eyes off you.’

Powering the Tata Harrier H5X in India is a 2.0 liter diesel engine. This engine is expected to be rated at 140 PS. It will come mated with a 6 speed MT or AT. Expect price to be in the range of Rs 13 – 16 lakhs upon launch. Rivals include Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. More images below.

2018 Tata Harrier testing in rains – Reveals floating touchscreen system, dashboard

As Tata Motors continues to strengthen domestic sales, the company has been relentlessly working on things to come. The first of which will be the launch of Tata Harrier in late 2018 or early 2019, about a year after the vehicle was shown at 2018 Auto Expo as Tata H5X.

Harrier is the first car in Tata Motors’ lineup to borrow platform from Land Rover. Ever since Tata Motors took over Jaguar Land Rover, it was being reported that one day, Tata will use the platform and technology of JLR cars, in their own cars. Finally, the day seems to be closer than ever before.

2018-tata-harrier-bad-roads-rainy-day-test.jpg

Tata Harrier test mules are on the job day and night, and the most recent spyshot shows the car tackling bad roads in Pune on a rainy day. It also reveals the floating touchscreen infotainment system. Just like Nexon, but a lot bigger and slimmer, the system on Harrier will also be powered by Harman, and will feature Apple Carplay, Android Auto. Diagonally, it seems to be a 10 inch unit.

Along with that, the new spy shots also detail all-LED split headlights and taillight. With the headlight cluster split, there are now 3 distinct light elements upfront with a prominent split DRL that adds character to the front fascia. Below this sits the headlight cluster. Tata’s certainly working those angles and the taillight is a great example of this as it’s devoid of bulk, and is laid out in triangular design.

On the inside, the SUV gets a 5 seater arrangement. From the photos, and the concept, it is sure that the car will be widest and longest in class. Thus resulting in best in class legroom, headroom and shoulder room for all passengers. It will also get best in class boot space.

Tata Harrier (H5X) for India is likely to be powered by a 2.0 litre diesel engine rated at 140 PS, mated with a 6 speed MT or AT. With an expected price range of of Rs 13 – 16 lakhs upon launch, it goes up against Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. Below are more images of the Harrier H5X, clicked by The Next COG.
