Re: Tata Aria Pride Ownership Review – TAI’s First!

And BTW Aria is going for its first long trip tomorrow itself , around 2000KM trip and i will be driving mostly! Time to test the full highway FE ,cruising ability and highway mannerisms of Aria!

That was a good news,

I'm sure Other cars definitely give way to Aria in Highways for its Muscle look

Have a Safe Journey.[thumbsup]

Re: Tata Aria Pride Ownership Review – TAI’s First!

An MUV can't be an off-roader right? Right , that is exactly what happened! This happened yesterday at our construction site and i was not with dad at that time. Due to rains our construction site roads were in a bad slushy and clayey state. Dad thought Aria might go through in 4X2 mode itself but the car got stuck , dad shifted to 4X4 , Aria pulled for some more distance but then again got stuck after some distance. As it happened in our site dad called our workers to clear the path and then Aria came out easily. But i have seen even Fortuner's getting stuck in slush so i think the Aria can be
excused!
Tata Motors if you are reading this wonderful thread please equip Aria with a low ratio 4x4 gearbox,it seems that adapterra is only for show off.[frustration]

BTW: Dhaya you/your dad should have moved ahead in that slushy road in the 4x4 mode itself. Its lot easier to go through a slime while on you are on 4x4 mode then try to cross in 4x2 mode and then try 4x4 after you have got stuck,IMO.

Wow cool news by you cooldhaya, pen down your entire experience of your tour/crossover on your return.HAPPY JOURNEY[:)]

@ Appu Thanks buddy , Yeah very true , the moment i flash my lights i get my way! Not to forget the respect you get for an white SUV!

@ Xover Well yeah maybe my dad initially it thought the Aria might make it in 4X2 mode itself but as the car progressed it just went in more deeper due to its weight!

@ Maximas Nice to see you after long time buddy , Thank you!

Re: Tata Aria Pride Ownership Review – TAI’s First!

@ Iron Rock and Master Thank you guys , i am back from the trip , i will share some things which i experienced and observed during the trip now. It was a nice wonderful trip which was around 1800KMS. A Honda City also was accompanying us for the entire trip.

1. Firstly the FE , got a standard FE of 13-14kmpl on 3 tankfulls with 7 people on board , a loaded boot and 100% AC ON always in strictly okayish roads for most parts of the journey. The MID crept all the way upto 16.7kmpl on good well laid 4 lane highways while i was returning from Pondy to Chennai. You can expect 600-650kms from a single tankfull depending on the roads , driving conditions , number of people and luggage on board.

2. Our journey for most parts was on average roads only. People who traveled in City first and then came to Aria loved the composure and the comfort of Aria over potholes and bad roads. None of them complained about the ride quality or comfort for the entire trip , everybody was extremely satisfied with the car.

3. Like our Safari the Aria is also a mile muncher! I drove 800kms for the first day but din't feel and tiredness or fatigue. A good night's sleep and i was ready to go for another 500kms the next day. In fact i managed to drive the entire 1800kms in four days and i never complained about any aching , fatigue or tiredness.

4. Aria when fully loaded takes a little longer to pull in the highways in the fourth gear , so you have to plan yourself while overtaking. It's no slouch but still it takes some more time for gaining momentum when fully loaded.

5. Aria's GC of 200mm is highly disappointing especially when its fully loaded! The rear mudflaps kept scraping all the speed breakers if i go a little fast over them. I had to come down to the minimum speed and go over speed breakers like a hatch to avoid my mudflaps getting hit. The underbody itself took a hit on a huge speedbreaker once! Not to mention the City which accompanied us scraped its underbody under almost all the speedbreakers. Our Safari was a KING in this respect , you can take a Safari anywhere and over any bad road at any speed!

6. Braking is top class and far better than Safari in Aria! Aria doesn't nose dive under panic braking and comes to a halt cleanly thanks to ABS.

7. Lights of the Aria are also excellent , most parts of our journey was during night and the projectors lived upto their expectations from me.

8. AC cooling as always is brilliant but as its winter season now this is no big deal!

9. Engine refinement and cabin insulation is the best i like about Aria. Till upto 100kmph there is hardly any noise entering the cabin and after 100kmph wind noise comes in from the A-Pillars. After 120kmph only the engine noise starts to get audible inside the cabin. Our journey for most parts was on bad roads but there was no rattle or squeak from anywhere inside the car , kudos to TATA for this tremendous achievement and improvement over Safari! Our Aria has clocked 22k KMS now and till now no rattle or squeak from anywhere *touchwood!

10. Now i will come to the negatives. The boaty ride of the Safari is still there in Aria. There is a slight bobbing motion at high speeds and undulations do creep inside the cabin. Not as bad as my Verna but still its not good!

11. Steering though well weighted is absolutely lifeless and offers no feedback whatsoever.

12. Now coming to the famous TATA niggles! Both our tail lamp bulbs conked off during the trip which made life difficult for the City following us! The City driver had to rely upon the boot mounted brake light for most part of the trip.

13. Due to the bad roads a chrome strip on the left rear door handle fell down! It was already broken a little but it fell down somewhere during the trip! The chrome strip on the driver side door handle is also broken now and looks like falling off!

14. A rubber strip which is fitted under the front bumper also came loose on one side and we had to tie it to keep it from falling , i will post the pictures you can check in that.

All these niggles from TATA one has to adjust living with , people who can't live with such non-sense are the ones going for the Japs and the Koreans. But even though i have faced few minor niggles i still love the car! It's as good or even better than our Safari in many aspects. We needed an SUV/MUV mainly for enjoyable tireless highway trips and the Aria ticks that box with ease.

Will post some pictures which i took soon.

Re: Tata Aria Pride Ownership Review – TAI’s First!

@ Xover and maximas Thank you guys!

BTW dropped the car for fixing the rubber strip which came loose under the front bumper and changing the tail lamp bulbs. The chrome strip on the door handle will be changed only during the next service! Car was also dirty both inside and outside so requested a thorough wash also. Dropped the car at 11:45AM and the car was ready by 5PM. Yes that is a lot of time but we din't fix an appointment and they had a heavy dose of cars to be serviced as the holiday season is approaching but they took my car for service , i appreciate that! And we usually don't pressurize them for early delivery as we have another car.

For the first time i am extremely satisfied with the work done by A.S.S! The cleaning both inside and outside is top notch , they have even polished the dashboard and upholstery! Tail lamps and the loose rubber strip was also fixed. And to top it all everything was done for free!

Re: Tata Aria Pride Ownership Review – TAI’s First!

@ cooldhaya

Few questions buddy:

1. What was the reaction of people who sat in last row and what was their height?

2. Now would you mind 20 more horses from your Aria, after it struggled with 7 people onboard during overtaking?

Also where are the pics?

Thanks cooldhaya for this insightful review after the trip(i was away and just picked this thread up), looking forward to the pics too. I was pretty sure the Aria would come out trumps in the comfort department and ride quality - i do feel the Aria has the best suspension set up in this segment. But now that you mentioned the GC issue are u hinting the suspension is softly set up with a full load ? or is it the long wheel base tht is more of a culprit for the mud flaps to hit these so called back breakers? can u confirm if u hit the front aerodams too (or whatever they call it underneath the front bumper ) ? Also surprised u found the overtaking a tad cumbersome - great if u can elaborate on it. What speeds on an average were those overtakes ?

i would someday also want to own an Aria so excuse the tons of questions thrown in..even i am back from a 3k trip and posted my experiences..[cheers]
