Re: Tata Aria Pleasure 4X4 a.k.a. The Chronicals of Saphira

Hi Guys,
Another weekly update time:

KMS on ODO: 9400 kms
FE: Around 12-14 kmpl (in delhi gurgaon traffic)
Best Acheived: 17.3kmpl on saturday evening
Niggles faced: Camber was out

So, as i was supposed to get the new door rubber bidding for the driver door (which was not good since the time of PDI) and Jack from TASS, i visited their showroom on last saturday and they took almost 4 hours to get the things right in the vehicle from JOB card opening to delivery of vehicle, here are the points which were mentioned inthe job card:

1.) Driver side door bidding
2. Jack
3. Squeak from driver seat
4. Camber out (as i can see unusaual wear from front tyres)
5. Clutch sound

Point no 1, 2, 4 were rectified fully but seat still give squeak and clutch sound is still there.

After that session i went to Reliance Autozone to meet my friend who has again (3rd) bout a new safari and that too a 4x4 EX model. SO there i have seen the alloys and get tempted and a

and

and installed them on the dragon (will upload pics soon).

They are of NEO Alloys and costs me around 18K.
I have swapp the tyres from front to rearm but i faced the following problems after installing the alloys:

1. Vehicle pulling to left
2. Bubbling at more than speed of 60-70 kmph

So next day i have taken my vehicle to service centre again to get the alignment and bubbling issuse rectified. The alignment issue is resolved and bubbling issue was resolved again at AUtozone after wheel balancing.

Now there are two issues in the car,
1. Bubbling is there but very minute, over the speeds of 80-90 kmph, more so prominent when brakes are applied (any comment on this is welcome)
2. Clutch sound issue

regarding
1. Mechanic (autozone) said that as tyres were wear out unevenly so let the tyres get settle down a bit i.e. let them run for 1000kms and than again they'll do the balancing again.

2. For clutch, i have TD another Arias on Service centres but none of them has this sound, so so so i asked them to change it on second service time and yes they do oblige this and said ok you'll come next time and we'll inspect the entire clutch and if required change it.

Will share the pics of dragon with new alloys soon, may be in next post as iam just resizing them..

Note: There was another Aria 4x2 pure in the service centre for its 3rd service at 31000kms, the vehcle was in a good condition, nothing was loose, and i did drive it (to check the clutch) also looked at the JOB CArd of the vehicle and it shows nothing apart from the regular service thing (only right side buld fuse). So its a reliable car, that even on 31k service it has nothing to complain.

your alloys look yummy, dear tornado !! Can you please explain what bubbling at 80-90 kms means ? do you mean to say your car wobbles or something like that ?

Thanks for the compliment,

Yes it is the wobbling (minute now) at speeds between 80-110 kmph. or while braking from those speeds to 50 kmph. This has started after alloys and tyre swap from rear to front and vice versa. As per autozone mechanic run the car for some 500-600 kms and let the tyres set in properly, as they have uneven wear, so let them settle first and they he'll do another round of balancing.

I have also dropped the message to Autozone that if any brand new vehicle with Bridgestone tyres swap with some other brand tyre than let me know so that i can pick up those new set of tyres.

Re: Tata Aria Pleasure 4X4 a.k.a. The Chronicals of Saphira

Tornado this is some serious issue of uneven tyre wear that too within 10k Kms.
First of all you have to complain TATA for wrong Camber settings and causing uneven faster wearing of tyre.
My car has even wear even after 43000 Kms, and still going good, if the alignment has not done correctly it means still more wear at some area.
So ask TASS to get the settings done correctly, have they added sticker weights for the compensation of uneven wear????
This is something you should fight with TATA for damaging the tyre so early.

Do follow tyre rotation every 5000 Kms, include your spare wheel in this rotation after 20,000 Kms on ODO.
And when ever there is a puncture, you should get the alignment checked.

About the seat squeaking the more they try to fix it, more they ruin it.
I have seen how actually they fix it, take a cylindrical rod, and placing it on the beam of seat, where it is jotted with hammer.

Tell them to replace the clutch switch , if you hear a squealing noise.

From the pic it looks that Aria doesn't comes with ventillated disc brakes, which helps in faster heat dissipation .

Yes that was the issue of Camber out and that happens when the new shocker were installed. As no one knows not even me, that even if we replaced the shockers than also we need to go for alignment, balancing and camber checking. Its the last 4000 kms which actually wears the tyres, as nothing was there on my Ajmer trip.

TASS has aligned the vehicle and also the camber, its just the minute wobbling is there and lets see after 500 kms and another round of balancing will do the required or not.

Yes i can argue with TASS with tyre wear, will do that next week. Clutch, i have given them ultimatum for remoiving the sound or else change the entire clutch system.
Lets hope for the best.

Can tyres are covered under warranty if they wear out due to camber out, it has just run for 9400 kms?

Re: Tata Aria Pleasure 4X4 a.k.a. The Chronicals of Saphira

Tyres are covered under warranty, only if there is tyre bulge on side wall, due to manufacturing defect.
This has happened due to the negligence of TASS.
So you can shoot a mail to TATA and proceed further,as you are maintaining as per schedule and having issues.
Which they must and should replace the tyre FOC.

The more you report the more they ruin, so be careful with the clutch.
Let the manufacturer be aware of your problem first then proceed.

Thanks a lot for the info.
I have asked them to rectify it or else be ready with a new clutch system and this is already in the service histroy. Means this complaint is from First Service itself and i guess it is better to have an entire new clutch system rather than rectifying the problem. SO i will insist on new clucth.

Minor Update:

Vehicle has crossed 10000kms mark yesterday evening on my drive back home.

It was a good journey till now (with minor niggles). Yes niggles, but not a major problem at all. Its relaible and comfortable.
Will sum up my ownership report till 10K mark soon after my coming weekend visit to TASS to get the free wash and spinning rod of Jack.

So are you happy with the performance of TASC so far?

Re: Tata Aria Pleasure 4X4 a.k.a. The Chronicals of Saphira

Hi Guys
After such a long time iam updating this thread, with minor information on my vehicle.

KMS on ODO = 12000 kms
General FE: around 12-13 in city with 100% AC on full blast and 15-16 on morning or late evening drives with Full AC.

Issues: Yet to received spinning handle for the JAck

Now updates done in the Car:

Alloys: NEO Alloys have been installed last month
ICE Upgrade: Got a SUB WOOFER from ROCKFORD FORSGATE (R1) with a JBL 2 channel AMP. Now the sound system of Aria is Complete.
Sun Films: I had V kool for sides now for front i have gone for Llumar which has 50% heat rejection and 90+% UV stoppage.

Now the car feels complete, only one issue is there and that arises after installation of Alloys Wheels (as per OEM specifications 16J 6.5) is that the vehicle wobbles at a speed over 80 kmph (very slight wobble). Well may be this week engineer from Neo Wheels will inspect the alloys.

Will update the pics soon as iam again without camera :-(

Niggles/Issue: Yes, one fine night one of my friend tried to do push and pull with middle right hand side door handle (inside) and manage to take it out so again a visit to TASS solve the problem as they fixed it again (FOC). The handle is not fragile it is a strong chrome handle but the way he Handles with it make sure that it comes out. Now the issue is why the hell door didnt open, its simple its child locked, stupid friend, he should have get down from left side door or just press down the window and open the gate from out side or could have asked me.
Any how, so far so good

This cannot be called as weak engineering of Neo wheels. It is the difference i symmetry between your Aria's stock wheels and the new alloys.

Get hub centric rings made by a reputed guy, the problem will be solved.

Thanks
But i mentioned This week, engineer from Neo Wheels will inspect the alloys and decide/finalise a replacement is required or not for alloy wheels.
But will ask them about the hub ring also.

Good to see that your Aria is treating you well buddy. And that's a pretty good FE for a big one.
