+1 to you and Arjun for it. Adding to that, the biggest innovation in my opinion is the Impact Design Language & the Horizonext. No matter what some people say, yet, it cannot be denied that the Impact Design Language has done a complete turn around for TML. It has proved extremely successful for them. TML is among the veteran brands in India though they entered the PV segment in early 90's only. In the span of nearly 3 decades in PV segment, TML has created a reputation for itself and if their constant efforts to improve on each front with newer products and technologies don't count as innovation and if someone believes that TML might be aping the designs etc, then, the person definitely needs to revisit the facts. However, let us also not forget that no matter how much TML might be working hard and proving themselves, yet, certain informed critics still have to open their mouth and vomit crap about them having no reason. The critics of TML are still stuck in Indica age and are not ready to accept that TML has begun to change and the change is evident. Innovation doesn't mean adding cladding to an existing hatch, innovation does not mean just adding apple smart play or something of that sort rather a true innovation is one where in the brand sets a benchmark in the industry and rolls out a product which begins a trend. Today, TML is in a position where in other brands have begun to take note of their products and technologies. So, one should always try to stay updated instead of scratching the past.

I noted the above with a sense of satisfaction - yes indeed, TM has come a fair distance from the days of the Sumo & the Sierra. And of course the Indica, from where their actual learning curve started in the PV segment. I recall with a mix of joy & horror our 8 years with our Sierra ('96 to 2004)![:D]
Joy because of the numerous trips (Mumbai-Lucknow-Uttaranchal & back to Mumbai, Mumbai-Madikeri & back, Mumbai-Goa & back, including a hilarious - in retrospect! - trip to Kolkata & back to Lucknow) we made. Many of the trips were in the company of our pets, our boxers Darth & Daisy. Particularly the trips to Uttaranchal & back to Mumbai, from where our obsession with Naukuchiatal really began!
And horror, because of the unending stream of niggles we faced during our ownership, many of them at the most inappropriate occasions. Like the time when the H.P. fuel pump broke down while on the way to attend Mitsui's annual dinner at a suburban 5-star!
But overall I have to admit that the Sierra has left a pleasant after-taste![:)]. May her soul rest in peace.

I must emphasize though that TM did the best thing possible when they acquired JLR. To my mind that seems to have been a water-shed event in TM's story. Though in the initial years after the acquisition, they appeared to be focusing entirely on the Jaguar/Land Rover line-up! But it's great that good sense (or perhaps, integrating/digesting the huge JLR kitty takes time!) seems to have prevailed and TM are now reaping the fruits of the acquisition in the domestic market too.

By far, Tata cars are better equipped, much safer and offer far more ride comfort than Hyundai or Maruti. The Xcent rides worse than my Nano and the i20 is worse. Keep living in the borrowed glory of driving foreign brands. Be a good sport and accept that a Harman system, drive modes and a 6 speed automatic gearbox is innovation. Changing lights to include DRLs and reducing the metal thickness to reduce the cost further is not. God bless you.

Adding to this, TATA was the one to introduce the Compact Sedan segment with its Indigo eCS. Also TATA tried the "Styleback" design with Tigor which looked pretty with a nice integrated boot. The only let down in it was it Engine which has a mediocre performance.

Re: Tata X451 Micro SUV To Rival Maruti Suzuki Ignis

This thread suppose to discuss TML's new premium hatch suddenly became TML history thread. But this is as usual. Every time there is a new TML thread, age old Indica stories will be posted by some or the other Guys, please stick to the topic. TML has definitely improved. There is scope for improvement for sure. But still they stick to their promise of More car per car. Peace.

Mod Note:- Gentlemen please stick to the topic in question, this forum is for everyone to comment on vehicles and not on each other. We can have opinions and we can agree to disagree but lets be polite and mature.

Also lets strictly stick to the topic the thread name suggests!

Most probably tomorrow TML will unveil the hatchback if the teaser image is anything to go by. Let's hope the design is impactful as always.

My impressions on sneak peak of x451:
1. Front end seems to be aggresive
2. Bumper design seems to be different complimenting somewhat futuristic look to the car
3. Thin Front grille integrates well into ultra thin headlamp units
4. A separate strip of led for drl/indicators between headlamps and fog lamps
Overall it will be a sharper and aggressive looking car.
Looking at nexon, hexa, tiago, tigor and racemo, iam pretty confident that tata motors impact design 2.0 will spawn extraordinary extradetailed cars and that will contribute tata in global launch.

Iam thinking they might change the tata logo design also (in mark of 150 years of tata group)

Tata X451 hatchback teased ahead of Auto Expo 2018 unveil

0_578_872_0_100_http___cdni.autocarindia.com_ExtraImages_20180124115122_Tata_X451_Teaser_Autocar.jpg

Tata has begun teasing its upcoming Hyundai i20 rival, the X451 hatchback which is set to be unveiled for the first time at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. The carmaker has revealed two teasers so far that preview parts of the car’s front bumper and sides. The second teaser also confirms that the car would have a Nexon-like faux ceramic insert below its window-line.

With the X451, Tata Motors will introduce the next level of its styling theme – Impact Design language 2.0. The stylish Tiago hatchback, Tigor compact sedan and the Nexon compact SUV are based on the brand’s first level of Impact design language.

The Tata X451 will be the first model to be built on Tata Motors’ Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), the base for the company’s future small car range. The X451, which is positioned above the Tiago, will be Tata Motors’ first premium hatch that will take on the likes of the segment leaders – the Maruti Baleno, and Hyundai i20.

Mechanically, the X451 will get uprated versions of the Tiago’s 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.05-litre diesel motor. The Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine may also be introduced at a later date. Expect a launch date sometime in 2019.

Looks stunning. Hoping the production version same as the concept.
If we follow the trend shown by TML w.r.t Tigor & Nexon, we may safely assume that the concept teased, the concept to be unveiled & the final product won't be really different.

Looks stunning and futuristic. Suddenly i20, baleno designs are looking dated
When the Nexon was launched, many C-SUV designs started feeling outdated. Waiting to see the car in real.
