Tata Motors will soon introduce a range of updates for the Altroz premium hatchback. The updates will include a set of new features and safety tech, while the car will also gain three new variants.

Tata Altroz: new features, variants
The Tata Altroz will gain new features like a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system as seen on the Nexon, Harrier, Safari and others. However, the bigger screen will be limited to the higher variants only, starting from the new XZ Lux variant. Lower and mid-level variants will continue to be offered with the 7-inch touchscreen.

The Altroz will also get a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor from the XZ Lux variant onwards, along with six airbags on the new range-topping XZ+ S Lux variant. It will also receive a new 7-inch TFT instrument cluster. On the flipside, the Altroz will lose leatherette seats, which will now only be offered with the upcoming Altroz Racer. The new variants on offer include XZ Lux, XZ+ S Lux and XZ+ S Lux Dark with pricing yet to be revealed.

Along with the launch of the Altroz Racer, Tata Motors has updated also updated the hatchback's line-up. The brand has added two new higher-spec variants – XZ LUX and XZ+S LUX – and added more features to the top-spec Altroz XZ+ OS trim.

2024 Tata Altroz range: what’s new?
Priced from Rs 9 lakh, the new Altroz XZ LUX variant adds the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen (with a new operating system), a 360-degree camera, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For an additional Rs 65,000, the Altroz XZ+S LUX (Rs 9.65 lakh) further adds four more airbags. The range-topping XZ+ OS trim used to be priced from Rs 9.65 lakh, but with the added features – including Tata's in-car connectivity tech and an air purifier – prices have increased to Rs 9.99 lakh; it costs Rs 34,000 more than before.

Do note than these prices are all for the petrol-manual variants. The two new variants are available in petrol-manual, petrol-DCT, CNG-MT and diesel-MT configurations. The Altroz XZ+ OS is still only offered in petrol form only.

Other features like an electric sunroof, cruise control, rear AC vents, auto climate control, 90-degree opening doors, auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers have been carried over. However, leatherette seats have been removed from the car and reserved for the Altroz Racer exclusively.

As mentioned above, the Altroz will continue to be offered with its 88hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 90hp, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine options. The petrol engine also gets an optional CNG kit. With the introduction of the Altroz Racer, the 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that was available with the i-Turbo version has now been discontinued. Transmission options on the standard Altroz include a standard 5-speed MT, and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic for the petrol engine.
