I think it will be best to do the rust-proofing at the dealer. In case of any rusting in the chassis in the future, I can sit on their heads.
For sealant, I spoke to 3m and they charge around 4K. However the life of the coating is 6-8 months. I know that the sealant needs to be reapplied after 6 months but 3M is expensive because they do it only once. The ones at the ASC do it (based on the experience on my Swift) again at 2nd service. So, doesn't it make better sense to do it at the dealer itself? It also becomes a single place to do everything at 2nd service
While talking to 3M, they suggested to not do carpet lamination. The reason for this as per them is, as the silencer heats, any moisture in the carpet condenses and fungal growth occurs. Anyone heard of this? I am asthmatic, so I don't want to vacuum the carpet every 2-3 weeks.
3M was also suggesting to go for silencer coating to prevent bubbling off the rust-proofing due to heat. I feel this is a marketing gimmick because if the rust-proofing falls of the silencer this way, it should also fall off the engine bay. Any suggestions
