hows the car doing aristo? check my thread last two pages found a defect in all petrol vernas yesterday
Are you talking about the clutch sound Nick? Yeah - After seeing your post I realized I am hearing it in my car too when I release the clutch in a hurry. But I usually release the clutch gradually and start accelerating a bit in the middle of releasing the clutch. That way I am not getting the sound.

so aristo i went through all the posts and saw you said you got 16 kmpl on highways. i still don't have any plans for a highway trip but

what's the current fe your are getting in city ? you mentioned 10.2. now what's the current fe you are getting [confused]
My FE manual calculations:

Sunday only driving in city - 11 to 11.5 kmpl (34psi)
Weekdays driving in city (full traffic coupled with Chennai Metro constructions) - 9.5 to 10 kmpl (34psi)
Highways - 16 kmpl (32 psi)

Still driving sedately except for a couple of occasions to check the power on the car.

oh yes getting back to the clutch noise. nick i'm getting that sound even when the engine is off so i don't think its a problem.

and does the sc suggested you to keep the tyre pressure at 34 ? will try it [:D] i also drive sedately , no power acceleration , drive at 50-60 in 5th gear [sad] but still low fe.

Yep - I maintain 34 in city because anyways I drive real slow on potholes - so didnt care about the bounciness. Also will not be able to cross 60kmph inside the city - so didnt care about handling. Atleast will get slightly better FE [;)]

that's a good suggestion that i can easily follow. the recommended pressure is 32 in all conditions so that's why keep it at 32.

but keeping at 34 may cause abnormal wear and tear of the tyres [confused]

i keep mine at 30psi due to lots of highway driving and recommended by yokohamas. but the noise is still there in your car so its an issue there should be no noise show it to your service centre and see what they say of all the vtvts we checked it only comes on engine on.

It's very minimal and I think it's a normal clutch pressing noise. But will get it checked. The adviser said to run the cAr for some time more and then check the average :/

Yesterday went on a mud road with bumps. Was doing 30 kmph and there was a huge mud bump. I didnt notice - braked hard. My front suspension went down and bumper scrapped the bump [frustration]. Luckily the bumper locks didnt break [;)]

My Honda city is also having some of these scratches because of low GC, Since it is on the bottom side, nobody will ever notice that. So my opinion is you keep it that way itself or it is coming back again.

scratches on both the sides [surprise] the GC of verna is pretty good so if it was some other car the damage would have been more. but that that pothole must be pretty big to cause this.

i'm not mocking [:D] but several users have said that verna's nose and GC is higher then honda city. i have crossed some big speed breakers without any problem.

I braked hard once I saw the bump - that caused the front to go further low. At slower speed without braking I guess Verna should have crossed the bump with ease.

Gave the car a nice wash this morning and started the car. All of a sudden I felt a lot of engine vibration - opened the bonnet and found it was not exactly vibration, but engine was moving back and forth. And also found a wire hanging out - guess a rat bite. And noticed that the check engine light was on. Was really worried. Called Hyundai road side assistance. They came and towed my car.

Just got a call from Hyundai service center - looks like a rat has ripped off a wire which is causing one cylinder to misfire. Looks like only 3 cylinders were firing and that has caused the imbalance. Dont know how much they are going to charge.

i guess it was the spark plug cable/the injector wire that the rats bit of. Its good you did not use the car, on my other car the cable had got damaged it was the highway at evening so i drove the car with only 3 cylinders working it was a pain major loss of pick up.

why don't you try keeping nepthalene balls/ tobacco pouches in the engine bay I've heard they do a good job in keeping rats away.
