I guess the MID has some fixed numbers that get displayed. The more common numbers are 8.7, 8.9, 9.5, 10.1. More often than not I see these numbers in the MID [confused]

i too have covered around 1650kms. so does the fe depends on how much kms we have covered[lol]

500-600kms show 12 , 1600-1700 show 8.7 [anger]

it goes to 8.8 and then again comes back to 8.7. tomorrow is my exam and have to go the college which is 13 kms from my home. roads are straight without much traffic and speed breakers. expect the car to show atleast 10 on the way coming back home :\

i have seen these numbers changing[lol] so no these are not fixed. once it even showed 14.7 :P and remained above 14 for 30-40 kms.

noticed few guys ask if theres a virus in the mid cause it shoots so high up after tank fill and then goes up and down, wonder why hyundai wants to claim so much fe when only the mid can meet that.
i10 i20 now verna and soon sonata, i wish they maintained the quality they used to maintain on the accents, santros, tuscons, elantras.

car suspensions aimed at city, but engine efficiency aimed at highway. According to their claim the 1.6 gives 17.03 km/l on highways and 13 in city.

so i drove 30 kms yesterday. 20 kms at 50-60 kmph. and the average on returning back showed just 9.2 [anger]

i wanted to know what i could get on a highway driving constantly at 90 ? my dad asked this yesterday and i told him about the average he was shocked.

on asking what it will give on highway i said " 12" [confused]

to get over 12km/l you need to stay in 5th gear for at least 15kms, i think hyundais consideration of highway is 50+km with no speed breakers clutch usage and throttle at one position when i got 16km/l i was at 5th gear for an average of 60km in that time i used to do some coasting like once the speeds are at 100/110 id let go of the throttle and let it continue moving as fuel supply is cut of when i near 80 apply throttle gently. but if you downshift or come to a speed breaker the fe rapidly decreases, verify this by using the realtime fe the second option where the bar keeps moving and see.

Thats exactly whts the cause nick! They have tuned the engine wrongly. Its a just crazy that on an average over a period in time your average out of this car wud be stuck between 9-10. Imagine the cost of ownership here.
