my santro's wire number 4 cost was some 350 rupees. so for the verna i can't guess [:D]

our car has a coil on plug ignition system unlike the other cars

the cables are detachable form the coil via a locking mechanism so costs to change the cable are not so high unless hyundais spares are high.

i guess it was the spark plug cable/the injector wire that the rats bit of. Its good you did not use the car, on my other car the cable had got damaged it was the highway at evening so i drove the car with only 3 cylinders working it was a pain major loss of pick up.

why don't you try keeping nepthalene balls/ tobacco pouches in the engine bay I've heard they do a good job in keeping rats away.
Haven't tried it. Never had such problems before. This is the first time I am experiencing. Will have to try something like this to get rid of the rat menace in the future.

The towing is covered under warranty (or insurance) I dont exactly know. So they didnt charge anything for towing.

They said if the damage is minor they will tape it and deliver the car today itself, if it is major, they have to replace the entire wire. Today being Sunday, they are very busy it seems and said they will deliver it tomorrow. Still awaiting a call from them.

One good thing about Hyundai is their Road Side assistance is good. they took just 30 mins to reach my home [:)]

Thanks Bobazooka!! Yes - I havent got the films removed. These days Chennai Traffic Police are not that strict like the initial days. So thought would give it a chance till I pay my first fine [;)]

my hands are itching to give the car a nice wash and apply the meguiars wax spray but due to rains can't do anything.
11.3 km/l in city traffic pretty amazing.

This car has a liking for the 4th and 5th gear. I mean slot to 4th or 5th as soon as possible and even before braking let go the throttle in the 5th gear and do not lower the gear until you start accelerating again, the FE seems to increase.

Aristo the above method will bear a brunt on your clutch, its not advisable to be on higher gear at low speeds on the long run it would result in clutch issues.
