Any update whether we get diesel automatic transmission with RAPID?
Not sure about it yet.

Hi, when is rapid come at dealerships ?
The launch will happen in Mid-November 2011.

Here is a dashboard picture of Rapid from Autocar India. Except for steering wheel, most of the parts are borrowed from Vento.

Yeah dash looks uncannily similar to Vento/Polos finish. Sharing among sister companies to the core.

If priced below 7 lacs, it would be a great competitor in the already cramped entry level sedan segment.

I don’t think so that it will come initially.

Most [surprise]. To me it is Vento with a Skoda steering wheel. Check it closely, it is vento renamed as Rapid (inside).

VW has started advertising that maintaining a polo is not so difficult. Will it be the same in case of a Skoda. Then, good [:)]

Update: The 1.6 Petrol Engine will have an output of 106BHP and it is likely to come with A/T option in both the engine options. However, European, Russian and Chinese markets will receive a different Rapid in terms of design.

One information which i got, Skoda rapid is built on VW polo extended platform(chasis). And a comment on skoda by a vento owner after seeing a rapid "Quality is top notch even better than my vento".
What i personally feel now is skoda makes good cars, but sucks in ASS. So naturally we get the the thought skoda sucks. Then skoda cars sucks.

Seems we, Indians are getting the same old car assembled from different components taken from Vento & Fabia, while rest will get a proper new car. Seems Skoda hasn't learnt from Toyota's mistake from Etios !! It is high time that Indians should be treated at par with Chinese when it comes to cars. Why second class treatment to Indians ?[anger]

If you compare the prices in US $, we actually pay more than international prices.

Is the cabin space in terms of legroom, headroom & shoulder-room equal to Vento or is it <> than Vento ??[confused]

Competition in US is so fierce and customers are educated meaning companies can't cheat them.

Classic Case in point - Etios twins are built so cheap and yet cost the same as any other well built/infinitely better cars (comparing spec to spec). Nothing short of Toyota taking them for a ride.

Good news if it’s true. Even Siddharth Patankar also stated that Rapid has more legroom than Vento.

Seems Skoda hasn't learnt from Toyota's mistake from Etios !! It is high time that Indians should be treated at par with Chinese when it comes to cars. Why second class treatment to Indians ?
Skoda has actually learnt a lesson, but instead about the cleverness of Toyota. It’s an open secret that there’s a big question mark in terms of so called “Quality” of Etios but still the sedan received a tremendous response. So why Skoda would be afraid to do the same if it benefits them as well?
