Re: "SARAH" - Detailed XUV 5OO Ownership Experience

or if the crack aint much big you can try to live with it.

Suhas a car of the size of xuv is bound to get scratches and cracks. so think with a cool mind and then take a decision.

BTW can you post a pic of the crack? and which guy told that filler doesnt have any strength? the local denting painting guy or the svc mechanic?

Here is the nasty crack, with zero per dep, is there a better option other than going for replacement? Please suggest.

Sorry to see that mate.

I agree with @Kinshuk.arya. I would live with it. It's not that bad btw, but I do understand as a car lover how much it hearts. Your attention is drawn to this spot every time you board / alight the car (and this crack is on the driver side [roll]).

I have some scratches on my bumper - both rear and front. Car of this size and city traffic, it is bound to happen. I realize fixing it wont last long - there is always some morron on the road. As long as it is looking bad, and not impacting the functioning of the car, I would live with it.

I dont think untill and unless it gets bang anywhere else it will break so your cheapest option is to use some carbon fibre vinyl as a sticker it will look good too and will not cost you more than 1-2k.

Even my Thunderbolt has dashes on Rear Bumper. However I could'nt gather the time to mend it. Service centers are far too away. And I do understand your feelings, Even the slightest Scratch is really crying shame. I spent 2 sundays getting out Minor scractches from my Hyundai i10 Blue Boy. We car enthusiasts have certain standards and we can't stand our car any worse than that.

If the owner wants the Bumper to be replaced and car looking Spic-and-Span, Let him have it. Feels good to have the beast shining again.

Re: "SARAH" - Detailed XUV 5OO Ownership Experience

Thanks BHVM and Kinshuk.arya - I value both opinions you both offer two different perspectives. It is a confusion everyone goes through, now it is my turn to deal with [:)]

I was hoping to collect some view points on going for Zero dep insurance. When I went through the forums many have suggested for Bumper to bumper coverage which costed more. Since I had a damage, why I don't see that coming as straight option. If replacement is not the choice will there be a much use of paying hefty amount upfront for insurance just don't claim this year. We will lose no claim bonus. Looks are always going to be important that is why there are so many discussions around polishing / even dusters [;)]. I have asked M & M bodyshop to get me an estimate for 1) replacement through insurance 2) repair. Their recommendation is replacement.

One more development is, there is a left side pull since the inception and I took it to M & M notice in the first month after purchase of my XUV. I am told they rectified the problem. But the problem still persists. It is part of my first servicing complaint list, M & M service engineers did everything they can do but realized there is something wrong with the tyres. They called for JK tyres specialist visit and he supposed to inspect the vehicle tomorrow. Based on his findings they might even recommend to replace all 5 tyres. Fingers crossed.

Does anyone faced the kind of problem? Is there anything I should be aware of?

Re: "SARAH" - Detailed XUV 5OO Ownership Experience

The Left Pulling issue is Due to Alignement. I Got the same done at a reputed Tyre shop (Not Mahindra) And It cleared up.
Also, If you are driving on Simple roads (2 lane roads) They usually have a Taper in the center and Slopes each side of the road. THIS causes the left pulling issue due to gentle Slope. Its an Old method to Get rid of water from the roads. Simple as that. You CANT correct pulling unless better roads are made.

Re: "SARAH" - Detailed XUV 5OO Ownership Experience

My experience with JK tyres has been horrible. My earlier car, Scorpio, came with JK tyres. It was noisy, too bumpy, too many flat tyres, pull to a side, so on. Unfortunately, I kept the tyres till 62K on the odo. When I changed to MRF is when I realized the tyres made a huge difference not only for ride quality but other aspects as well. Almost all the issues I alluded disappeared once I changed to MRF. JK tyre is blacklisted for me.

When I took my XUV, I insisted on anything but JK. Thankfully it came with Bridgestone.

Re: "SARAH" - Detailed XUV 5OO Ownership Experience

The left side pulling can be due to alignment and as everybody knows somehow the mahindra's SVC guys are simply not able to put it correct. I would say take it to an outside alignment shop and get it checked.

Regarding the 0 dep insurance my reason is to save it for anything bigger which might burn your entire pocket as one can claim 0 dep insurance only twice a year.

the stock JK elanzo's are doing great for me. although there is some tyre noise on certain specific roads I dont find it unbearable. Keep them till their life ends no need to spend another 60-70k for another set of tyres this early. If the issue is with the tyres than I am assuming JK will replace it for free and if the issue is due to mis-alignment which has already been pointed out by you the svc and in case there is uneven wear and tear on the tyre than the dealership needs to cough up new tyres for free or at max minus the depreciation

Re: "SARAH" - Detailed XUV 5OO Ownership Experience

I experienced shoulder pain due to the pull and took it to M & M attention. M & M SVC folks themselves claim that there is something wrong with tyres. In case JK agrees to that they would replace all 5 tyres for free. I could clearly see the vehicle pull on any roads. In case they return my car as is I will take a visit to third party guy for realignment as suggested.
