After the price googly played by the government today; now I am waiting for our well caring lorry drivers to go on a strike. This only can help stop the diesel price hike now!!

Price hike on diesel cars and now a price hike on diesel; why Government doesn't let we people with high running live peacefully? (BTW I drove a Polo petrol 2500 kms in 29 days )

Assuming the diesel price hike will not be reversed we should also be ready for a price hike of every commodity like milk, vegetables and every other common day to day use commodity which is usually transported by diesel vehicles.

So in short petrol price rise affects only petrol car owners but diesel price rise is going to affect ALL! [lol]

The other thing is if both diesel & petrol are products of crude refinement how can one increase & other decrease in price??[surprise]

The only ray of hope now I can see is our truckers and I do trust them that they will someday force the government to roll back the hike.

Well, simple answer:
Govt can do anything, they can even sell you water for 60 rs/l and petrol for free.

The problem with Diesel cars is until implementation of Euro Vi standards they will pollute much more than Petrols and our Cities are aldready saturated with Pollution. Why should a BMW 530D pay lesser fuel price than a TVS champ owner. Yes Tractors, Trucks and Buses need subsidy as there is no economical way these can run on Petrol, they will consume way too much fuel.

Even now with small car defination of 1.2 Liter Petrol and 1.5 Liter Diesel tilts it in favour of Diesel cars.

I know, lots of you have diesel cars. But,you must understand why diesel is still subsidized by around 10 Rs., is that for the general public, means to keep the inflation down. So,a 10 Rupees difference between petrol and diesel is a healthy divide. Let it keep that way.

When Diesel price reduced from close to Rs.60 levels to about Rs.45 levels, did the price of Milk come down? Even the Bus ticket prices did not come down. Why are you guys reacting to one upward revision in this manner? In the previous couple of revisions, we have seen opposing actions on Petrol & Diesel prices. These prices are now linked to International prices of Petrol & Diesel & not directly to Crude prices (As per an official of PSU Refining company).

We could see Petrol price being hiked during next fortnightly revision & Diesel price dropped, depending on developments in International prices of these 2 commodities.

That's correct if the prices of diesel goes down the transporters and other businesses of milk vegetables & other commodities just pocket the additional profit/savings & don't usually pass it to the customer! but with every increase in diesel prices it gives them a reason/excuse to hike the prices of commodities just wait & watch. Everybody wants to make a fast buck!

How would a private database like Aadhar help the govt to give subsidy? It should be linked to passport, driving licence, pan card, voters Id or any of the other govt databases. I'm going to hire a driver with a Bpl card.

just a suggestion before doing so, the exchequer was looted by the then government with numerous scams and as result there are fiscal deficits the government has to meet, hence they are balancing it in terms of tax as that's the only way the government can gain capital.

give it time, once the fiscal deficit is balanced you will see the revision. there was a debate on NDTV on the same on Saturday night with different economists and the party people in which it was explained quite clearly why the taxes and the economists did agree with the facts, hence i would suggest look at the condition and then move forward. Just a Suggestion, i'm neither politically active nor inclined to any political party however the condition of the country is something which is not hidden from anyone.

your suggestion is the most bizarre & hilarious ! So the general population & current taxpayers in general have to pay & balance out what some previous govt MAY have looted? what kind of explanation is that? Is it like, they looted the exchequer then so please let us loot the taxpayers now? [lol] I am not supporting any political party either but folks would definitely sign any petition to reduce fuel prices, I am not sure how & who would benefit by keeping the prices up.
