Shame on the opposition parties.
Despite getting GST passed through both the houses, they are selling fuel at double rate and we are paying it like the herd.

Also shame on us for using BS3 fuel in our coveted BS 4 rides.

When people quietly pay service tax vat etc in movie theaters, restaurants and buying electronics, why are they so worried when it comes to paying tax for fuel which is imported.

Fuel, will be taxed heavily, All State Governments, Central Government have become dependent on taxes on Petrols and Diesels for many years now. Plus refining costs are going up with BS IV and capital investment to be made for BS VI fuel. Going through PSU Oil companies websites and other information on various global oil sites, it seems that while Petrol and Diesel come from crude, they have independent market where Diesel is generally costlier. The prices seem to vary a bit differently for both these fuels.

But some States Like Punjab, Maharastra, Karnataka, Kerala, Telegnana, West Bengal, UP really charge exorbitant VAT rates. Petrol in Pondicherry costs 7 Rs lesser than what it is AP, KN and Bengaluru. Anyone on a holiday from Bengaluru to Puducherry should consider bring a few Petrol cans along.

It is about frequency. How often you buy electronics, how often we go to movies and restaurants. We have almost equal to +10 % prices for electronic items. The petrol and diesel prices where not reflecting to international prices in india. This is affecting all 120 billion people. If there is increase in international crude , govt and oil companies cry loud and increase substantially. But for the amount of decrease it was not reduced, excise vat is introduced. Ok the profits which are not shared to common people, is anything done progressively to the people. That's what concerns everybody.

Yes, but when international market rates were Rs 42 / litre, due to taxes retail diesel was costing Rs 70 /litre & petrol Rs 80 / litre.

And after the Acche din concept introduction, international prices reduced to approx 11 Rs / liter, retail diesel is costing Rs 60 /lit & Petrol Rs 70 /litre. Ideally diesel should cost Rs 18 /litre & petrol Rs 20 /litre.
But you know today's retail prices.
This dependence on such exorbitant taxes is as worst as drug dependence.

Can you please elaborate on BS VI FUEL?

it seems that while Petrol and Diesel come from crude, they have independent market where Diesel is generally costlier. The prices seem to vary a bit differently for both these fuels.
Same was true before introduction of Achhe din concept.

But some States Like Punjab, Maharastra, Karnataka, Kerala, Telegnana, West Bengal, UP really charge exorbitant VAT rates
So finally, it is the state governments who are responsible for the exorbitant prices!
