Re: Online Shoppers Beware

@jarpickle

I shop online from groceries to DSLR online (ie, 3RS product to 70,000Rs).
I would not have purchased the same from vicky.in or myself.in unless i read many positive reviews.

Always check the pricing in different websites. If it is maximum of 20-30rs difference in a reputed store, buy from reputed store than risking your money.

Check the reviews if possible. While checking the reviews in mouthshut or any review site, make sure the person has reviewed more than 3-4 to believe that. Or, it may be the company guys creating different id to post the reviews.

I hardly order cash on delivery (COD) as they do not allow you to open and see the content before you pay.

I bought the same leather cleaner from local shop for 400RS (MRP -500). There was no seal either.

There are frauds and genuine sellers on online. You need to understand them. I have got cheated once/twice from ebay and always got the refund from ebay.

Got cheated from groupon once (CAR vaccum cleaner) and i never bothered for a refund. The pic had CE mark, but the product reached did not have CE mark. They were ready to refund. I was so busy that i didnt worry much to pack and send it back (i am the culprit).

And, importantly - The product photos looks so misleading in some items. The actual product may be different. Suggest you to always check in different sites before buying.

PS: You could have posted a review either in mouthshut or posted here rather than creating a blog dedicated for them.

@appus:You need to read my original post correctly.

I have not created that blog nor have I shopped at vicky.in,I wanted to so I searched for reviews for it and came across that blog link.

I have posted the link here because on this forum people do a lot of car maintenance and DIY
themselves.

Ps:Thanks for posting the Mouthshut link.It will help everyone more.

Sorry, my bad !

I see many guys complain about scary online shopping. I wanted to say that 'Online shopping' is a best thing if one use it wisely. There is nothing wrong in paying 'upfront' if they are reputed/known shops.

Re: Online Shoppers Beware

I couldn't agree more.

The point of this thread is not to condone online shopping but to educate the buyer to do more research prior to purchase.

Like with anything, one bad person doesn't mean the entire community is bad. There are some honest people doing legitimate business.

Its not easy setting up an online portal, I think its a good step forward in the shopping experience.

Note to the buyers: Please do your research

Re: Vicky.in Review - Online Shoppers Beware

I lost nearly 400 rupees when I bought a foot pump from Ebay.in, the seller was "lotmany" a lady from Hyderabad owns it. When I complained that the product was defective & not worth the money. They agreed for a full refund, once I sent the item back via courier the company stopped responding & no further communication at all.

Ebay.in washed of its hands saying, the transaction was older than 7days & that they cant help it. Stopped using Ebay from that day.

Re: Vicky.in Review - Online Shoppers Beware

I cannot take credit for unmasking them.I think all the buyers who have suffered and have made the fact known deserve the credit.

It is good people are using public forums to express their displeasure about certain things, it really helps other people avoid such shops, online or offline.

Re: Vicky.in Review - Online Shoppers Beware

Ebay.in has satisfied me everytime I have made a purchase through it.
As a best practice, I look at the ratings and their reviews the sellers have got from people.
It is all about being alert I feel. :stupid:

So far shopping online has been good for Me.
Recently ordered capdase cap mobile cradle and had got 100 bucks off on regular pricing.
Was always on the lookout for coupons.
Got another 100 bucks off coupon from shopclues and got a 16gb sandisk ultra sd card.

It is always better to be alert and vigilant about newer websites.
Plus one too has to check if getting things online has any benefits over getting an item locally.

No point feeling sad about not getting a good deal locally only because somebody was lazy to check out those local stores.
