Disconnected battery as soon as I reached home, just too scared to even think of anything going wrong with water, old wires & a live battery.

I was very unhappy this morning when I saw the paint brush results. So started checking in Internet, stripping the gun, tried all ratios of coat+petrol mixture. Finally I discovered that this Pitch Gun can be adjusted to different thickness of liquids & the adjustment is at the nose of the gun (a small brash washer)! So started off spraying the floor part, it started to drizzle so I had to stop halfway.

A few pics of the tiring masking, seatbelt removed, difference between can spray & the gun spray thickness etc. I am confident that this will absorp sound as well.

I am using the same rubberoid yellow tin shown in previous page. Although the content is very thick, it can be sprayed using the Pitch gun, I was wrong that it cant be sprayed. If you have the right air pressure, the coat is a beauty to look at.

Completed spraying Rubber coat to the whole floor. Some more things learnt in this process.

1. If you open the tin use it on same day!
2. You cant get precise spray (mess is guaranteed)
3. Petrol evaporates too quick leaving behind the rubber in the tank.
4. Even if you spray with gaps here and there, the liquid will drip and cover the gaps so do not try to do something like painting.

All four doors interiors and good portion of the running board (behind seat belt mount) is all sprayed (sound proofing too is definite)

I am planning to buy a hair drier to heat the floor now (before rain cools the weather down yet again)

I went out just bought a hair dryer and gave it a try. No great improvement, even after 30mins! Now the 1000rupees hair dryer is of no use in this drying task, however to dry the body filler, this is a great tool for sure.

Anand, where do you plan to spray the car?Baking the body overnight is the best way to cure the paint.Inquire about any place where you will be able to use a paint booth that is capable of baking the car.

is scratching out every rust bubble with a screw driver enough ?

shouldnt the rusted parts be sanded, then primer applied/painted ,allowed to dry then coated

direct coating will hide the rust and do more harm than good

The rust was just on the surface, hence the flat head screw driver was just good enough to remove them (till plain surface came up). However from next time I will make it a point to do the sanding and primer then the coat. Thanks a lot Petroholic.

I am on the hunt for a closed space (like a empty huge shop), where I can paint the car and use a room heater overnight so that the paint gets baked. Hope I get one such place soon :)

Try to visit Bosch.Out here they rent out their paint booth. It has a heater as well.If you can paint at night and let it bake till morning that would be awesome.

I was just waiting for the rains to stop so that I can start off with the body filler and putty work. Yesterday pulled off the monograms and scratched off all the body filler which was wet soaked and cracked! A few pics.

Work is in progress and will update a few pics shortly.

I would love to have an end result that looks like this red.

Anand,
Really great job.[clap] Very eager to see the end result. Also when I visit Bangalore, I would like to coat my car's interior also.
Regards.
