The reason is simple -

XUV gobbled sales of 10L-sub-20L. If you remove XUV, what will be the figs then ? Peanuts. Other issue is in 10-15L segment, only Laura (obsolete), Jetta (not VFM) & Verna (hot selling) are diesel contenders, rest are petrol. To get correct picture, compare 15L+ vehicles.

Why do you forget innova. It was doing healthy sales earlier and it continues to do so even with the introduction of ertiga and the xuv.
There is something which is not inspiring buyers to go for a sedan. Maybe real estate [size]. Maybe something else.

C'mon buddy, Innova is not SUV, it is just MPV. T even calls it as India's first 3 row car [lol]. And Innova is there for ages now, mostly used for cab purpose.
If sales is only logic, then Eeco is better than Ritz, coz Eeco is sold largely to fleet operators. It's not just no. which counts, you need to see private-public sales too.

Whatever it is the duster has 13,000 bookings in a month shows people are interested in the vehicle which many were not to belive when it was launched . It has taken share of everything thing ertiga,sedans,Scorpio and safari .

+1. But please see the reasons for this -

XUV - Gave something like Fortuner for 50% less cost, it is only proper UV between scorp/safari & Fortuner,

Ertiga - Mini Innova with high FE. Created new segment,

Verna - Good package with comparative pricing. No diesel sedan in this segment & Altis was obsolete & under-powered. Rest are expensive,

Duster - For 7.99L, looks of UV with FE of big hatch. Again segment first.
Duster may get hit by Ford ecosport but then ecosport launch is 1 year away.

Hence if you see, the above vehicles did good not because of them, but more due to lack of competition in that space.

If you still find duster attractive, then just check how many 110 ps duster were sold ! [glasses]

i know that buddy. I never said it as an SUV. i mentioned it as an UV.
I cant see the private public sales but they are seen majorly among the extended families.

The most irritating thing is these Duster sold in Uk is manufactured in India but we dont get 4X4 like UK market does,[anger]

And the best part is that all this models for the uk will be made in India and sold in uk cheaper then India . You are correct they are treating us as 3 world country and top of that they are taking us for granted too [frustration]

Agree with you guy's, this is the Arrogance of an Foreign company which seriously need's to be discouraged but looking at the numbers of booking they got for this product I am not hoping any drastic change in their behaviour toward's our market[frustration]

What is Pikes Peak International Hill Climb?

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), also known as The Race to the Clouds, is an annual automobile and motorcycle hillclimb to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado. The track measures 12.42 miles (19.99 km) over 156 turns, climbing 4,720 ft (1,440 m) from the start at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway, to the finish at 14,110 ft (4,300 m), on grades averaging 7%.[1] It used to consist of both gravel and paved sections, however as of August 2011, the highway is fully paved and as a result all subsequent runnings will be on tarmac from start to finish.
The race is on the FIA International Events Calendar and has featured competition from United States rally sanctioning body SCCA ProRally in 2004 and Rally America in 2005. It has taken place since 1916 and is currently contested by a variety of classes of cars, trucks, motorcycles and quads. There are often numerous new classes tried and discarded year-to-year. On average there are 150 competitors.
