When it comes to tuning Dacia models or any other car from the Renault-Nissan Alliance, for that matter, Elia is one of premiere aftermarket brands in Europe.
The Darkster looks really good and full muscle. [clap]

DARKSTAR - Now thats what an SUV must look like. Ready to take on anything.

I understand why the foreign brands detune the performance of the cars on their India Launch.
What I dont understand is why they detune the Style Quotient as well.[frustration]

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)

My freind who You can be seen in last picture posted above is interested in duster but wanted to test drive Scorpio , safari along with the duster and then book whichever he likes the most as all the 3 are somewhat in same price bracket .

Since Renault dealership in new Mumbai had a 85 ps version we went there .

The model was rxl middle variant black colour and it looked stunning to my eyes the chrome grill and Renault logo look superb on black .

There is no rear ac blower in mid and lower version and guys you will love Renault for it because 3 people can sit comfertable at the rear seat .

There is no satin chrome finish on the door handles , and door sil and it's blessing in disguise because without it the look is more stylish .

Now about driving
Sleek gear shifts light clutch superb ergonomics and fantastic driving position inspite of not having the driver height adjustment you can still see the bonnet in its full glory . But thick c pillar dosent give a good view while reversing .

But unfortunately I dint like the pickup i felt it a bit sluggish in 2 gear from 3 gear onwards it started taking momentum .

There were just 3 people in the car and I did take the duster for nice stretch of 10 Kms from vashi to nerul on palm beach road it reaches 100 kmph effortlessly but after that I had to floor the pedal for some more juice and it does take some time to gain momentum .

Ride quality , handling is simply superb and out standing and it's as simple and easy to to drive like a hatch .

My freind shared the same impression but was not excited with the pickup .
In the end he was not excited nor unhappy .
We then went to tata and mahindra showroom . He took then took the test drive of not so greatly maintained xuv 5oo the rear doors were not opening from inside .
He loved the xuv and was happy with all the gizmos .Scorpio was not available for test drive .
We then went to tata showroom he took test drive of safari and then first word he said after driving for 5 mins was this feels like a real suv he enjoyed the drive . Then he took aria the sales guy told us to take aria in m I d c complex by lanes which have extremely bad roads and then on palm beach road he took the test ride of aria much longer then safari, xuv and duster
After the test drive we sat in my car I asked him so what have you decided ? His answer was
I will like you said wait for the strome raja if it rides like the aria I will buy it if not then iam buying aria no matter what . I asked why not duster he said he didn't feel like he is driving a suv , xuv he said good , safari he said no point in buying a old model now and aria he said it made me feel happy driving it specially the ride quality and suspension .( I had a vision at that moment in my eyes in 70mm big words X O V E R ) .

Now my points on duster compared to safari and Scorpio .

If some one is graduating from hatch or a mid level sedan and will have his mom , wife and sister in family also driving the duster makes sense completely .
But some one who has already used a suv like Scorpio or safari ( read raj, master squall , iron rock ) I think duster specially the 85ps model won't excite them . as a second car yes maybe but not as a replacement because there is nowhere that power and larger then life feel of Scorpio , safari ,xuv ,aria feel in the duster .
Mileage conscious people , ladies in family who will also want to drive , ease of driving and looking for a upgrade from hatch and are not BHP and torque crazy duster can be a perfect car with suv styling .

My cousin too had similar opinion about the duster. He said it does not excite you
he drives an alto and his current contenders are dzire , and xylo.

Dzire because of the parking constraints in his building and maruti piece of mind since he is used to that with his Alto. Xylo for the awesome legroom.
He has driven some of his friends scorpio and he too is a fan of the MHAWK [:)]

Comparison in Scorpio , safari and duster is bound to happen and normal people will go for duster hence the 10,000 plus booking in 25 days .
Urban style conscious buyer can opt for it too because it seriously looks stylish and unique from outside . But then there is another category of buyers like us who need that heavy looking suv with heavy feel who don't care if gear shifts are super sleek or not but just love the rush and clatter from the engine duster in all sense will not appeal to them much that is what I feel and is purely subjective .

But duster is way way way ahead then xylo iin refinement you can hardly hear the noise when you crank the engine .
The interiors look bad only when price is taken into consideration if you compare them with Scorpio and safari the later 2 can't even match the duster .
I made 2 other people sit in the car when my friend was driving 3 people were siting with perfect comfort in the middle row no complaints atall .

So if your cousin is addicted to mhawk 2.2 iam sure he won't enjoy the duster , but some 1 who has never driven a suv will fell in love with duster because of the ease with which it drives.

And btw the showroom was not with rush today just 1 couple came and booked the duster when i was there ( perfect buyer of the duster young just married ) waiting period 4 months . Why don't you go and test drive it once will be great for the forum to have another mini review a differnt perspective .
Infact my humble request is to iron rock , raj and vipul to do a nice in depth review of the duster 85ps and 110 ps and petrol too .

duster didn't excite me from day one due to space and over exaggrerated SUV status given

instead of duster i'd recommend Ertiga with better performance pickup wise and great mileage

Raja any chance you could test drive ertiga and then compare both of them

I have driven the ertiga to be honest other then the last 2 rows there is nothing extra special in the ertiga compared to the duster .
Infact the middle row space is better in duster then ertiga. Driving pleasure is same none scores better then each other .
If your requirement is for 6 people means 4 adults and 2 kids ertiga is better and if you want 5 people to travel comfertable duster is great too .
IMHO the choice comes here completely on what a person likes totally subjective thing .

Re: Renault Duster Now Launched at Rs.7.19 Lakh (Coverage – Pg.20)

First, thanks Raja for mini-review of 85 ps duster.

From what has been mentioned by Raja above, I will bet on Storme. Better wait & get a Safari styling with Aria ride quality. Frankly, there isn't much good choices in UV space below 15L. Safari is outdated & doesn't make sense to buy when Storme is arriving, Scorp too is obsolete, XUV is Okie-dokie, nothing great to boast about just upgraded scorp one can say & Aria is good but being cross-over, feels more of MPV than truck. In all this, Storme will fit the bill perfectly and yes, the price won't be close to XUV. Confirmed.
