Though I agree that one has to wait for the duster atleast 6 months and we still need to see how their a.s.s is but 7000 bookings hype or hysteria one must understand that 7000 vehicles will be on the road the more car is seen the more interest is generated . And not all 7000 people who have booked the car are foolish or influenced by hype and hysteria And if that is the case we must agree that even the xuv bookings were then hype and hysteria .

People are not dumb they have evaluated things and put down their money on Renault .
One thing that I observed in the showroom was that people who were booking the car were typical young couples and urban upper middle class people and was shocked to see many girls and women test driving it .
I think atleast the duster will make people take notice of a company called Renault in India which was somewhat not taken so seriously by people .

But again as you said the real things about Duster will come only after one year and it applies to all the cars which are newly introduced in the country with very less presence.

My personal opinion only : I feel all these people who booked this car are nor fools neither they have hysteria. There are from the bunch who might like the Renault as a company or waiting for it since long time reading its news or upper middle(rich) class who do not care for Rs.10 Lakhs or children of Rich class who never bother for money and on what they are spending. A new vehicles success is not with these initial buyers and it is also in the case of XUV 500 too.

The real success of the car means a car which starts slow or medium in initial bookings and the sales will go on year by year and the people who make it a success are wise,calculated,budget,hard earned money buyers. The example is like a Swift, A Honda City, A Toyota Innova.

So finally, it would be too early to judge Duster or XUV500. But after I looked at Duster, some how I felt that Renault is collecting the "dust" in France and throwing in India !!

it seems somewhat an attempt by renault to do a toyota etios story for india.

i am not questioning the sanity of the buyers but major chunk of the people have not had any A.S.S experience from renault.
SKOda have been good for some , worse for some.

many were drawn to the duster because they were impressed by the logan's mile crunching ability.

the real test of any company would be the quality of the A.S.S over a period of time with respect to the availability/non-availability of the spares etc.

it will be around 2 years or more when we can answer whether a duster is a true success.

Agreed that mere bookings are no show. This is precise reason we opted for XUV W6 & not W8 as lot of issues are still there in W8. Also, there is complete vacuum in 10-15L UV, which XUV filled (aria is more of MPV/cross over).

Duster ?? Why would one buy top end diesel with 110 ps for 12L when one can get scorp or safari at same price ?? Not to forget that these are proper UV & not compact ones with better engines.

The 2nd row of duster looks horrible. I found scorpio very cramped, if duster is same of scorp, then its horrible too.

And I am sure bookings must be in urban areas as rural areas don't have Renault presence as yet.

From whatever is seen on this forum, I am not in favor of duster. It may be good as compact UV but fails when you consider total package. And some how I have same feelings for ecosport.

LOL must be fake to create hype! By checking the car pics. here on forum I did'nt even bothered to visit the showroom. The vehicle is pathetic specifically the interiors. They just did like Rio, the RIO was kind of okay looking from outside but inside was so bad, this seats, weird buttons, cheapo plastic and same is the case with duster. Outside its great but inside its so cheap.

To renault: I have to be inside the car to drive it, so you should have made it good from the inside too. This is so lame. I am definately sure that people who are going to buy this car will complain about the sounds coming from here and there after very short time of driving. I mean heck you guys have even beaten Tata in terms of the quality of plastic lol.

No wonder the same looking Hyundai Tuscon was expensive which is almost same like duster.

Cmon guys, arent we being too harsh with renault & their Duster? Fine, I agree it may not look like a great value proposition, but do all cars have to be a great value proposition to sell well? It's got the novelty factor & they are cashing in, whats wrong with that? Renault is here to stay in India & Im sure they won't let their valued customers down! Look at how they heard from market feedback regarding the laggard engine of the Fluence & got it remapped with better low down torque & driveability...
If they get the feel that prices of Duster needs to be reduced, they shall do it in due course......let them skim the market pricewise initially :)

ASS: Poor
Interiors: Poor
Prices: High

Pros:
Exteriors: OK

Are you going to bet your 10L on this ? I will not!
Also you say that they will take action like reducing prices etc. I don't think they will coz check Pulse, its expensive and not selling much but they are doing nothing about it.

There should be no soft corner for any manufacturer !! especially when it is from foreign origin.

Your buying this SUV means a company is trying to earn profits on your money and you have all the right to show your dislike.

The forums are the real driving forces of automobile industry. How ??

When we come out and discuss lot many things about a newly launched vehicle in a great detailed manner and translate our discussion to our friends and relatives and buy may be one out of them and he will be careful enough to select the product and also he will discuss with the dealer in a sensible way. If the vehicle is really not good then yes defenately within no time it will hit them back and this is the place we talk what is good and what is bad, so that the readers and ourselves get benefited and cautious spending our hard earned money.

So can be harsh for any car either it is Indian origin or a foreign origin show our dislike, otherwise they are ready to through every cheap and under performing thing on us and finally we will be looser.

Maruti is not our friend and Renault is not our enemy. There all are same to us !!

I agree dude with you comments. Any manufacturer are in the business to earn money. Infact a Lot. So they need to give what they are charging for.
Tata, Scrop, Maruti etc current players are giving what your paying for (more or less). Even BMW or Mec or Audi give what you pay for. So why not Renault.
A 5 seater with no proper interiors and a less engine capacity needs 10L is a little over ask and under estimating Indian market.
Honda Realized this and so did few others. Renault cant imagin themself as build in players.

Why you think the engine capacity it less ? It's good considering the weight of the duster ? I agree it is not priced right and the interiors are not that great but it is a capable vehicle worldwide and has a proven solid engine .
