Ertiga interiors look far better than Duster. Ecosport ? Hmm, if you opt for petrol as I don't think diesel ecosport will be available below 10L on-road.

Thanks 350Z and others for their views on this new baby on the block in India.
Wish just a wish that Renault would have priced it a bit less than in the following manner
Petrol base variant should start at 6.99 and Diesel 85 bhp base start at 7.49 and 110 bhp base should start at 8.99L.
They should have given 4x4 variant along this launch to make it more attractive they should have priced it at 9.99 for 4x4 110 base variant.
Vehicle is quite decent looking and has proportions and presence on road. Lets see how things will take shape for Duster.

@Raja - Thanks for sharing the initial TD report - did you took any interior photos with front seats fully pushed back - how much space is left.
Did anyone else took TD? Looking at initial reports, I feel Ertiga booking is worth keeping it.

Sam hilarious stuff you wrote there & perfectly capturing the mindset of the Indian public. I agree with others saying it doesn't look imposing, I haven't seen the car in flesh yet however legroom is something that is important to me if I am going to sit at the back. Lets hope Renault has some sense prevail over them & reduce the prices in the future by a bit

I think that 4K+ booking is just a initial hysteria which is bound to fizz out once Renault increases the price, Renault is just not able to read our market.

it is just the initial fizz.
it should be now interesting to know how the service centres will now handle the increased load since they were never accustomed to the queues.
the image of renault will improve or degrade depending on the A.S.S now.
people have gone ahead and booked the car only because of the novelty factor it has.
it is in the long run that the vehicle will show its build to cost nature.

Completely agree with you first challenge is the ASS then the other major challenge is the build quality as pointed by 350z in the previous posts quality is really not good enough.

Even I agree with you, if we see the monthly sales of all the cars the leaders are those who have better service and those who captures the Indian user characteristics. So many cars came/launched to India with a bang but what happened after one year, e.g like Nisaan Micra inspite of being such a nice car but failed to dent any one maruti or Hyundai hatchback.
Swift, I10, I20, Alto,Dzire, Scorpio, Xylo, Innova these all are almost 7-8 years since launch but still selling like hot cakes. People cannot afford to gamble with 10 lakhs where there is no assurance of better service and spare parts. This was reason for downfall of Fiat Palio.
A.S.S is so important- off topic one incident I would like to mention “We purchased one Moped/Scooty Hero Sting which was a like Hero Honda Street.The price paid was 28000 and we have sold in 5.5k after 1.5 years. Will you ever belive the axle where the Kicker mounted broke. The dealer failed to get the spares which forced us to get it repaired with local mechanic.After spending 2.5k it worked for 1 week then my dad sold it at 5.5k.” Thank God it was only a two wheeler".

You are 100% correct. You have explained very well as what I was about to write here.
It is always like new movie where you will defenately have initial collections, but every film cannot become a "Sholey". So wise buyers or budget buyers will think about his and buy in second round, I mean after a year or so.
For example : When Ritz launched in 2009, really I hated this car even one of my friend was talking about its features and all the good things and he told me that was a first BS-IV car and will become a success and I was treating him as a mad guy. And today 2012 I am the owner of the same car and at times I really laugh when I look at my selection, but it was very precise and after lot of research !! and ASS was the biggest reason for this selection
