9 killed in bus-lorry collision

Tiruvannamalai: Nine persons, including 2 women passengers, died when a fire broke out following a head-on collision involving a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus and a rice-laden lorry near here during the early hours of Wednesday.

The Cuddalore-bound bus from Vellore was proceeding towards Tiruvannamalai. At Pudu Mallavadi, the lorry rammed it at about 5.45 am. Before the bus passengers, who were asleep, realised, the vehicle was on fire.

Awakened by the cries of occupants of the bus, villagers rushed to the bus and rescued many passengers. The dead include bus driver Ravikumar (38), hailing from Chozhavaram, and Mahadevan (38), bus conductor from Mel Vallam. The others who died were passengers Geetha (45), Poongodi (35), and Suresh (30), Venkatesan (30). The lorry driver and cleaner and one another person remain unidentified.

Thirty injured passengers were rescued and sent to Tiruvannamalai GH from where many of them were referred to hospitals in Chennai and Puducherry.

Oh gosh!!!.
Vellore-Thiruvannamali road is still fresh in my memory.
The roads are really well.
I have driven on this stretch.

I have dozens of accident pics of my comp. As I regularly travel on NH-7, I'm getting bored, and don't really care to snap accidents or upload them. Anyway, here is one Sharma Volvo accident. The 'driver' told me that due to brake failure, he had to steer off the road, and it the process, hit a boulder and came to a halt. Real bad damage. I am told that no one was injured, surprising, as some of the front seats are bent. the The accident occurred near Anantapur 2 - 3 weeks ago.

Yeah that stretch is a pretty nice road to drive.

Father, Mother and son Travelling on NH48 in a newly delivered Fiat Linea came face to face with a granite filled TATA Tipper. the tipper crashed into the Linea and Toppled Over it.

Father, Mother and Son Both Got out of the Car Unscatched, but shaken.

Kudos to the Fiats' build quality. They seem to be some of the safest cars around.
Hopefully, insurance should cover the car.

last week, had gone to get routine check up of my indica, and there i saw this ford ikon into two piece, right from between and driver was dead on the spot and was also cut down into two piece, heard they had this accident with a trailor on highway.

Read that the insurance declared the car was Total Loss & therfore the owner booked a New Linea.

I have seen and heard this news long back from some other forum! So is this the new one or...

Spotted this yesterday evening in NH45 when i was returning from office.

A lady and a driver was inside the car and they are fine and there were no injuries. Lorry driver dozed off i guess. He hit the back of car with a speed of about 50-60 kmph. As soon as he hit, he escaped. I just stopped in between and helped them. One think that conked me off is, how a hatch would have reacted for such an accident???
