Night driving,

Just like day driving , we need little more care full and speed is automatically reduced due to vision.

Above everything we must be carefull and quick thinking.
eg- if a truck come uncontrollable in opposite lane , instead of getting panic , find our way for max safety.

When i was young , i was wondering , when my dad drove the omni at 90+ in day why not 60+ in night. remember the road condition then.

Even when i tour with my friends , when i get sleep i pull over and sleep in car - spread paper in road side and sleep .

But in the case i mentioned , it was just 2 of them in car for whole 36 hours. so some how managed- never again i'll try that again. (hmmm lancer is more comfy than marina- should i try 40+ hours hehe)

But in my friend's case he saw the car just a moment before the accident. It was a small turning. Besides that buses were parked on the roadside. So he couldnt give way also.

Have done this twice. Not exactly on road side , here they are laying the 4 lane . So i got whole four lance to sleep!! [evil].

And once in a turning to a small village . away from the main road!

By quick judgment i didnt mention to save the car , but to save our life.

Well i had a miraculous escape last night. I was on my way back home with my mother. It was dark and i was doing 90-100kmph on my alto on a not so busy state highway. I saw a truck overtaking another with high shigh beams on. I flashed him high beams to stop him from overtaking and then he braked and stopped overtaking. Then suddenly he again started overyaking with high beams and i had to get off the road into a puddle to avoid head on collision. Fortunately the puddle wasnt deep enough to damage the cars underbody or running foot.

From now on i have decided to minimise my night drives especially with passenger(mainly my family members).

Lucky !! that is all i can say , getting into puddle is wise idea - proves your presence of mind.

This thing happened to my friend - another worry he didnt have brakes.
This happened to my franchiser - after fixing turbo to the esteem , it was taken to maximum spin. . what happen was , in the vaccum brake , there was air pressure return- means you can even press the brake pedal. It was rock solid. This was due to a faulty fixation in piping.

What they did was got into side of road , went down there and again climbed up to road ..At that time the meter reading was 70kmph.

Many have same situation like this.

Most of the lorry drivers pushes us off the road and overtake. Not only lorry drivers, also flaged scorpios and fortuners. Sometimes Sumo and Tavera.
Some of the roads are not proper too. The height between the puddle and road is pretty huge which can lead to car bottom kiss the corners of the road. Sometimes its even worse, ends in an accident. [anger]

My major concern while moving off the road was that i was doing 100kmph. Still i am happy that no damage to the running foot. It ws already damaged last year when i was giving driving lesson to my mom.

KANCHEEPURAM: Three persons travelling in a car were charred to death after the vehicle hit an overhead power cable post near Thiruvidanthai on East Coast Road on Monday night.

According to police, the accident took place about 45 minutes past midnight when the speeding car hit the post and in the impact a power cable got snapped and fell on the vehicle.

Moments before the live wire came into contact with the vehicle, driver Surferoz (26) of Kilpauk Garden, Chennai, jumped out of the car.

When the car caught fire, Karthik (26) of Mint, Janakaraj (25) of Anna Nagar (East) and Nagendran (24) of Ambattur were trapped inside.

The victims were running an advertisement agency in Chennai and were on their way back after attending a function at Chidambaram on July 19.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Surferoz lost control of the vehicle presumably due to fatigue and hit the power cable post at high speed, police said.

Over-speeding

Personnel attached to police stations on ECR pointed out that over-speeding and lack of experience in driving vehicles equipped with power steering facility was the root cause of several accidents on the ECR. Placing of barricades on the carriageway by the Chennai Suburban Police on the ECR stretch under their domain as a measure to curb over-speeding had helped discipline motorists.

Such a measure could not be implemented on the ECR stretch under the Kancheepuram police district in view of manpower shortage.

A blanket ban on speed breakers on the ECR compounds the problem, the personnel said.

I had a terrible time yesterday.
I was going to office which is in chengelpet, 50 km from chennai.

As soon as i reach NH 45, unfortunately one of my wheel caps in the rear came off and directly hit a biker. I was travelling at a speed of 80kmph that time.

He got severe rashes in his arms, leg and face. [confused] After some first aids he felt ok. This kind of incidents fall in what category?? - fate?? [frustration]

How come i forgot this.

That's very unfortunate.
I've seen some cars that has the plastic lock like thing(the one used by supermarkets to lock our belongings in a cover before entry, so that we cant sneak in any products- which can only be cut) to prevent hub caps to fall. Even if it gets dismounted, it wont fall. Of course, you need to use a new one every time you remove it. Hope you could understand what i tried to say.
