Once I read somewhere that a little 19 year old kid has driving experience of lacs and lacs of kilometers and he also talked about Economics, Finance and Automobile Engineering.
Sounds like some good boy,I'd also like to meet him.

Now I am reading this what is quoted above.
Amazingly,I too read that..[lol]

My diesel car starts moving at 800 rpm, shift to 2nd gear within a couple of seconds and to third without touching accelerator pedal. After shifting to 4th gear, it shows 1400 rpm.
Now somebody will shout sedate driving. But this is more than adequate for our Cities. Has to apply brakes even with this style of driving, when ever there is a petrol car infront of us.
And what about those sudden jerks when your turbo comes to life mid traffic. Then you have to apply brakes to stop your car from kissing the front moving auto!!

it seems that 19 year old kid was reading too much cocks and bulls in internet.
Buddy, bull was okay but COCK!!Which country's stock market is represented by COCK?(It's making my thoughts fly quite far..[evil])

@auto, let me know when did you stalled your diesal car in 500 to 1000 rpm,if you ever could .
Buddy if I say it's possible, that also easily then?

That means the diesels have very small powerband to play with.
I mean start the car, first push it till 2000 rpm and then play for next 1500 in first gear and then again your dear engine starts loosing its guts.
Now such a small powerband..YUCK!!

BTW,I am sure that if running costs doesn't matter then 90% of the people will shift to cars again.
I dont agree with this. As rightly said by autosafari, Many diesel engines have zero turbo lag today hence there is no issue of loosing power below 2000 rpm.

Even if Petrol & Diesel, Car prices & fuel prices are same still diesel will be preffered by many because of the power they generate.

Why petrol Innova was a complete failure & diesel Innova was big hit. There is a same reason behind it.

My choice would be any day Diesel Engine.. Why ?
I like most the turbo, when it kick in I just love that feeling.
Then the power of diesel engine will be more powerful then counter part petrol engine.

And now a days I do not feel that there is huge difference in maintenance of the engine.
This is my personal choice.

Why Petrol ?

10 of the fastest super cars in the world - Yahoo! Autos

Top Ten Super Cars of the world are Petrol that's why.
and Stop bagging TSIVIPUL for supporting Petrol engine.

Rab Rakha
Why petrol?
Because muscle cars were born out from US of A.
They [that land] do not find any favours with the diesel. And before the iraq war they were not too conscious about fuel efficiency too.
In europe diesel sells around 100 rs to a litre. But that does not reduce the demand for diesel powered beemers or diesel powered mercs.
Even honda has its diesel portfolio in europe because of higher demand for diesel.

Europe sells euro-5 diesel which is also called as ultra low sulphur diesel which produces less pollution than a CNG vehicle.

Those super cars were designed with USA as their target market.

There are always alternatives.
There were aeroplanes flying then and concordes too but concorde had to be pulled off because the enthusiasts market is now dwindling.

Compared to technological advancements in diesel not much has been brought forward in petrol. Hence we have started to see a change in fuel preference.

My vote to diesel always.

Petrol is for the enthusiasts anyways.

So this is your problem.
You must drive new generation diesel engines to have some good sound effect.
New generation diesel engines have comparatively better sound effect. But it still not better than petrol cars! (Exception: Nano [lol] - no offense to anyone)

If somebody says diesal engine is noisy I am sure he has not waken up from the age of balck and white television..lol and ask him to see a BMW diesal mill.
Comparatively, petrol is silent. The new generation diesel too have engine noise (even though its reduced to a great extent).

My vote to diesel always.

Petrol is for the enthusiasts anyways.
Agreed. Diesel for normal people. Petrol for enthusiasts!

^^Why 150,let's compare 165 bhp diesel and 160 bhp petrol..
Cars are Chevrolet Cruze and Skoda Laura TSi..

FE of both is quite comparable and same is price but when it comes to ride, handling, comfort then Laura is far ahead of Cruze and performance is better less said.Skoda TSi can eat it up any day...

I own both diesel and petrol but my vote is for diesel.petrol needs to be revved for peak performance but diesel need just a light foot because of torque
