Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Looking at the damage, repair estimate is quite justified. The metal beam is quite thick to work upon, and I think there are no cracks on it which would make the work little easier.
There is no crack on that and they need to press and paint that metal beam only.

That's sad to see your ride in this condition and yeah guys it 2.5 grand seems pretty reasonable amount for the dent repair of at-least this kind.
Yes, it was an eye shore for me so gave it to them 600Km early

That's good to know ToughGuy. 2.5k is a very justifiable amount for that repair. I guess even a paint touch-up would be required for that,so considering that its a very reasonable price which the service guys have quoted.
Asking for my knowledge, what all parts are to be changed in the 2nd service? And how are your Apollo accelere tyres doing after 30k kms?

Yes GM88 price quoted by them are quite reasonable i was expecting something double of that. I had not checked maintenance schedule for second services will let you know soon. I am happy with Apollo and will surely go with them again, they still have 15-20K KM of life.

i'm surprised as well to see the 2.5k amount [surprise]

hyundai quoted me 6000 rupees for this

I checked the link, in your case they need to paint both door and quarter panel completely due to which your paint area is increased considerably compared to my small paint area of only metal beam. Paint cost are major factor in this quoted price since they are quite costly and hence justified their quote IMO.

Hi Toughguy...

Quite impressed by you posts. I'am also thinking of buying polo. inclined towards diesel.

need to confirm about the noise levels compared to a petrol variant.

Not much difference between the two. The petrol variant is as noisy as the diesel[;)]

Don't tell me you are buying the polo having the engine option which has less noise levels. (no offense mate)

I had a notion that Petrol Engines are quite calm & less noisey compared to diesel engines..

but as u guys suggest it's not much different... my inclination towards a diesel buy is now stronger..

also.. what difference does alloy wheel makes in polo diesel...???

thnks Vivek..

but i've heard that alloys are bit lighter in weight.. this improves the mileage...

also there is bit difference in the drive quality, handling & control..

don't know how much is true..

These kind of things are minimal and can be ignored, steel wheels are usually heavier than alloys and things you have have mentioned are very much true.

well, I don't think polo petrol is loud. But whatever it is, polo diesel has a loud noise compared to swift/punto diesel!

I have got alloys fitted in my Polo. Hardly any change in the fuel efficiency of the car. Still getting around 17kmpl in city and 20+ on highways which is great IMO.

Which variant are you going for? I would suggest go for the Highline variant with all the safety features and all the bells and whistles like automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, new ICE, smoked headlamps and those new design alloy wheels.

Hi Ballunman,

Thanks for your lovely words, diesel car worth every penny but yes they are noisy. Polo diesel is also noisy but well insulated from inside so you don't need to worry about that.

I am so addicted to diesel car now that it may be impossible for me to switch to any other fuel mode in near future. Drive is fun and quite pleasurable compared to petrol and CNG cars.

Second service updates

Got Explorer-1 yesterday after second service and running board repair work. Total bill was 19K approx including 2.45K of body shop bill. I am extremely satisfied with the service and VW Delhi West Motinagar (World class automobiles pvt ltd.). 5 star to them and to my service advisor Mr. Sachin and body shop advisor Mr. Mohit.

Find below the bills for more details pertaining to repair work, will post car pics tomorrow:

Thanks for the info. The 2nd bill certainly has increased excluding the body & brake pad charges!
