Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Yesterday I reached Delhi by 9:00PM, completed 2300KM in last 6 days. Welcomed by a massive traffic jam before Dharuhera till Hero Honda chowk it took more than 4 hours from here to reach our home in Dwarka.

My Rajathan road trip was quite memorable one, visited Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Tanot, Sam and Khuri sand dunes. My Polo TDI performed quite well specially on those sharp turns in high speeds, I missed a speed breaker on my way to Khuri sand dunes, it was steep and four in a row which scrapped the under body protection sheet of the car since speed was above 120kmph, but now i know it's hard, strong, useful and worth to there.

Some dramatic pics. Particularly the Polo in the middle of the desert. Our Polo is definitely not camera shy.

Good work mate with the pics and keep em coming!

Same is answered rightly by Rightnow, general check up is free of cost till your car is under warranty. It is not mandatory or recommended by VW but you can go for it as a precautionary measure especially before first service i.e 7.5K or 6 months.

Today i gave a post dated cheque of INR17353 to TATA AIG for 0 dep insurance renewal through VW Delhi west (they have tie up with ICICI and TATA AIG), earlier ICICI refused to renew my insurance since i claimed 4 times last year.

Inspection of the vehicle was carried out by TATA AIG prior to the renewal, my Polo's insurance was ending on 3rd Feb 2013, gave them PDC of 2nd Feb'2013.
Hello Toughguy,

How much you had paid for insurance when you bought the Polo? was it Tata AIG? Mine is due for renewal in march and while buying guess I had paid 20k for the insurance. Any Idea how much it could cost for the first renewal?[confused]

Hi,

For first insurance i paid around 24K to ICICI and for first renew paid 17K to TATA AIG.

Polo updates

Yesterday Explorer-1 got much needed shower, paid 120 bucks for same which includes exterior wash, internal air cleaning and tyre and outer plastic polish, check the results below:

Underbody plastic sheet below engine bay took a massive hit at above 100kmph when i missed a speed breaker on my way to Khuri on my recent trip, they were four in a row and quite steep

No doubt this sheet is strong

Hi ToughGuy according to the service advisor of VW informed me at the time of purchase of the vehicle that don't wash Engine bay, that will impact the engine. Is that true?

Yes that is true. Engine bay contains wires and electrical connections which may get harmed or fused by water. Kinda makes sense no?
You would also see that the VW workshop guys do not wash engine bay but they just clean the parts with moist cloth. If you get your car cleaned at local workshop, my advice would be to tell those guys to not pressure wash the engine bay rather just use cloth for cleaning it.
