Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

hello rightnow,

any update about increase ground clearance of polo?
its available at the volkswagen showrooms for free if your car is under warranty.

I understand since this driving dynamic is the most important thing in this car for me among many other things.
I don't think it will effect it since the volkswagen dealer themselves are providing it. They might consider other facts too I guess.
Well, lets see. I am going to do it soon!

Thanks Rightnow and Jihu for the valuable updates. Its great to hear that they are providing the spacers at VW wshop and even great to know that it doesn't have a bad effect on the ca'rs dynamics.

@GM88 if you are around could you please share your experience with the spacers that you have installed on your Polo.

Thanks all.

I got these spacers fitted day before. Have driven around 150kms after that. Noticeable visual difference would just be an increase gap between the tyres and the wheel arches.

In driving, the seating seemed to be a tad higher just for an initial moment. Don't really know if it was actually there or just a psychological thing. None change what so ever in the Polo's driving dynamics. Drove at around 130kmph today at the highway and the car was as composed as always. Plus luckily i drive on well carpeted roads. Someone who scrapes the underbelly of the Polo often can really tell us an insight as to if the spacers have really helped in any ways.
The new refreshed Polo is already coming fitted with these spacer from the company,so i'm sure VW must have properly tested everything before going ahead with them. But if someone is scared that it'll change the driving dynamics of the Polo, it won't happen i can very well vouch for that from my experience.

GM88 thanks for sharing your experience good to see that you didn't observed any change in driving dynamics, but ultimately choice is upto the consumers since same is optional.

Yesterday i went to VW showroom to inquire about the new Vento there i discussed this GC thing with my old sales advisor and he told me that new Polo is currently coming with same old GC with no spacers also I checked the old and new broucher of the Polo and GC is same 168mm.

Check the attached details below:

Polo_old.JPG

Old Polo specifications

Polo_new.JPG

New Polo specifications, note GC is same

Yesterday i got my baby back in the evening after the general checkup, guess what? my bill amount is NIL! yes general check up is free of cost till your car is under warranty. No oil top up require which might be payable if done so, they quoted 550 plus taxes for washing for which i declined since my Polo is heading for long drive so thought same is of no use.

Got quote for insurance renewal which is expiring next month, i will not able to avail 20% NCB in below quote and if i go with my current ICICI then i have to pay around 18K for zero dep insurance.

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

I was told the refreshed Polo is coming with higher Ground clearance. Surely doesn't seem to be the case from the new brochure. Yes indeed its a personal choice to go in for them. But i wanted to get this done as my Polo is occasionally driven by my sis and cousins too and there level of care and handling of the car is not the same as i do. So more of a precautionary measure.[;)]

I have some confusion. Actually the refreshed polo came before any official process on GC improvement came out. I think a few bacthes were sold with the same 168mm GC, and then after a few moths only, the spacer was used by workshops.
Also, adding a spacer doesn't seem to be an OEM set-up, jus an add on. So probably VW has not added that in polo brochures.

I think we can cross check this from different dealers. Will visit VW showroom at south extension to check the same soon.

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Hi All,

My Polo 1.2 TDI CL is jus 7 months old and done 3500 Kms. I was infact not briefed sufficiently well by the VW service / Showroom Personnel reagrding hte car's maintenance.

The only info i have is that after 1 year or 15000 KMs whichever comes in first will be time for car's first service. I am really worried and want to know if the car doesnt need any maintenance( oil top up, coolant refill etc) till the first service. Also i f i take for a checkup/maintenace before the first service will it be charged etc. Could you guys advise me regarding this. As always appreceate your great help.

@GM88 Thanks for the details. great to know hear what you had to say regarding your experience with the spacers. I was looking at something like this as i ma badly in need of some ways to increase the GC. Would do this and update my experience with the new GC on my Polo. Have a great day.

Yes, a pre service check-up is highly recommended, especially for diesel. Normally you should get a check up done at around 7500 km of running, most probably oil top up will be required. The top up would be charged as per the oil quantity required.

Same is answered rightly by Rightnow, general check up is free of cost till your car is under warranty. It is not mandatory or recommended by VW but you can go for it as a precautionary measure especially before first service i.e 7.5K or 6 months.

Today i gave a post dated cheque of INR17353 to TATA AIG for 0 dep insurance renewal through VW Delhi west (they have tie up with ICICI and TATA AIG), earlier ICICI refused to renew my insurance since i claimed 4 times last year.

Inspection of the vehicle was carried out by TATA AIG prior to the renewal, my Polo's insurance was ending on 3rd Feb 2013, gave them PDC of 2nd Feb'2013.

Nice pic ToughGuy. Awaiting more pics and an extensive travelogue of your Rajasthan tour. I am also planning to drive down there in the coming months. This surely would help. Enjoy your trip and wish you a safe journey.
