Re: Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Launched

Got a chance to checkout the new dzire in the showroom two weeks back, the car had good interiors and the front fascia was the most attractive in interiors, but found the door panels to be very thin, the exteriors no doubt is a good looking one and on observation I sometimes get confused with face-lifted Amaze seeing the rear portion and fooled many times, anyone on the same boat as mine? [confused]

Yes many times there were incidents were I saw a white 2017 Dzire and thought it was an amaze at a glance. Especially in the VDI/VXI variants. But at night, I found ZDI/ZXI to be distinctive due to illuminated tail lamps and alloy wheels. But from rear once can easily get confused between Dzire and Amaze.

Re: Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Launched

2011 City wasnt CVT , it was an older torque converter afaik
The dolphin/ZX and the current models have CVT though and CVTs dont have gears, they emulate gears unless shifted into Sport mode wherein it feels odd as gearshifts disappear

AGS does have jerkier gearshifts but it fares better with the diesel 1.3 MJD than petrols. Its pretty ok with 1.2 petrol but I highly suggest checking out the diesel as the additional torque does help AGS/AMT alot

AGS is excellent for bumper to bumper traffic
It is the usual tactics played by these sales reps. Anyways 99% you won't get a bad car. Here in Hyderabad, we have many Maruti dealerships, so before booking the car we must make such arrangements. If he disagrees for a PDI check, then we can gladly give the business to another dealer. Dzire has many takers, so the dealer is taking advantage of the situation. I can understand that. Anyways I wish you good luck with your purchase. And there is nothing that can wrong in a NA petrol engine. And even I too prefer AGS over the CVT for the sole reason "lack of feel". But a 1.5 CVT in a hatchback like Jazz or Yaris will be powerful and smoothest to drive in the city traffic. And for a city like Banglore, Automatic is a must. But any particular reason why you chose 1.2 Petrol AGS over 1.3 Diesel AGS ? As diesel is more frugal, torquey which is perfect for city traffic.
Thanks kkn13 & Volksjäger,
A conventional automatic is generally considered better but in terms of fuel economy we all know AGS is almost same as Manual. Infact Renault Kwid claims higher fuel economy for its Automatic variant than the manual one.

As far as selecting petrol AGS is concerned, i felt for a city like Bangalore where every minute or two you are caught in traffic congestion it doesnt matter what engine or how much horsepower you have :) Its just a question of satisfaction to overcome the irritation of being caught in traffic , i hope you guys agree.
I am very happy with what this 1.2 Petrol engine can do, and the fact of the matter it is an AGS is just the cherry on top. I dont think by paying a lac extra and getting a diesel variant am going to enjoy more just cause of the traffic. This petrol engine is quite smooth and the gear shifts are very very good considering my experience with friend's honda automatic engine. Diesel AGS i didnt consider cause it costs more than Petrol and moreover i was happy with the performance i got from Petrol. I dont plan to do much highway driving so never considered Diesel engines.
And obviously Conventional CVTs cost more.

My requirements are mostly city driving and for that i think this car more than satisfies my expectations. I love that it looks more premium now.

It has all the safety equipments which i wanted like ABS, 2 Airbags, child ISOFIX points, thus i just knew this is the car i wanted !!

Suzuki reveals the debut of its hot hatch SWIFT SPORT.

1.jpg
3.JPG The new engine will most likely come from the Vitara’s range and is no other than the turbocharged 1.4-liter BoosterJet unit, which makes 138 HP and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque in the case of Suzuki’s SUV model.

Combine this with a really low kerb weight, with reports talking as low as 870kg (1,918lbs), and the new Suzuki Swift Sport suddenly sounds hotter than ever, as it will deliver an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 159hp per ton.

So sorry guys for not giving an official review for the car. Haven't driven it much(thanks to office work). So it can be like an initial driving experience, so here it goes:

Clutch is a smooth as compared to other maruti cars.

Cabin feels roomy and spacious as compared to the older one(that was the car on which I learnt driving)

Steering wheel feels small but is quite comfortable to hold.

Seat comfort is more or less the same as the older Dzire

The high beam option and also the normal headlights are not up to my expectations

Brakes are really very good and powerful.

Talking about the cabin, the glove box is rather small.

Gear shifts are really very smooth.

Music system is same as old Dzire and is not for a person who loves music (if you are the one then go with Tigor or wait for Nexon)

Bottle holders in the door are quite useful for long trips.

Low ground clearance can be a issue if you stand in an area with bad roads or have to face HUGE speed breakers(like me)

Mileage of this car is pretty disappointing, getting only about 13.3 on highway(done around close to 400 KMS) which is really poor, I know it depends on the driving style and staying in the limit of the gear but that will also change 1-2 km/l. Let's see if I see a spike after the first service or not. But that is not good as company claims a mileage of 22 km/l for this car's petrol version and only getting this much is very sad.(will try to post a pick as soon as possible)

BTW guys didn't found any steering assembly issue till now and I think the car is ok as of now.

So guys this was my so called review again guys sorry for being late on this.

Hey All,
Got my Blue Vxi AGS Dzire 2 weeks back.
These are the initial impressions
1) Love the comfort and the ride setup.
2) Great for daily driving (haven't yet driven on a highway)
3) AGS is smooth and really good, have no issues with its performance
4) Good Leg space for rear passengers makes it feel a much more premium car.
5) Hardly any engine noise inside the cabin.
6) Steering is precise but little small in size i feel.
7) Boot space is more than sufficient for carrying airport luggage for a small family.
8) Manual mode gears are also precise and haven't had any issues.
9) Though ground clearance is 163mm havent faced any issues till now.
10) Braking is very good , am glad Maruti gave ABS and airbags for all variants.
11) Seat size and comfort is good for tall passengers also.
12) AC performs adequately like all other Maruti's. Cooling is fast and rear AC vents also do a great job to improve comfort.

Things which can be better
1) Headlight needs to be little more effective.
2) Steering can be bigger.
3) Glove box size is rather small i feel.
4) FE as of now is 11.3 kmpl inside the city, rather low i feel. Hope it goes up after 1st service.
5) Vxi Side mirrors do not retract back, in our city conditions this feature should be given to all the variants.
6) Maruti should have given elastic hinges to keep the tools and Emergency Triangle inside the boot. As of now they bounce and make a noise when kept in the trunk.

Alternatively you can make a DIY to keep the elastic hinges by probably sticking them with the help of industrial adhesives, these are cheap cost cutting tricks MSIL makes [lol],

Not really, I saw a VDI(mine is VXI) and it had a mileage of 19.2(company claim 28 kmpl).

That was the time I got satisfied that my car is not defective.

Also when I asked about this issue with the service people they told me that the mileage will gradually increase and will be showing correctly as it drives more (currently around 500km).

One more thing I forgot to mention there was as soon as I switch off the AC(till now it has been on no. 2) the mileage increases upto 1kmpl.

Just use velcro straps they are very useful and a cheap alternative for all these things.

Ive used that engine for years (1.3 MJD/VDI)
19 Average is only normal with it if driven with heavy foot

As for the petrol, 13kmpl is pretty alright , slightly on the low side for the engine but not abnormal

Dzire ranked at 5th in July sales, it is used to settle at 2nd rank yesteryear, so what could be the reason[thinking], waiting period? nope every recently released MSIL cars do have waiting period, steering assembly issue? solved at early stages silently. Production constraints? I hope Gujarat plant at full swing. Old Wagon R doing better than Dzire. Once new swift comes this Dzire will settle down at 10 to 11K. Already new dzire open for taxi market, spending 35K more for ABS and airbags is more viable than going for 2nd generation dzire tour. 2nd generation dzire tour will vanish until stock clears(in factory), then the new dzire is sailing on two boats.
