Strange my new DZire is giving a mileage of 13 on HIGHWAY and 11 in CITY and its at around 1500 kms now.

Don't know what the hell is going wrong?
1500 Kms is too early to guage the mileage figures in your car, drive it for atleast 5k to 10k kms and then calculate the FE figures, initially the FE figures will less in cars as the parts in the engine has to get accustomed to the driving environment.

I will add to it in that FE must be checked for the same driver and the same route and after an extended run on the odo. A lot of people report high FE after running just a few km or compare highway FE against city FE. For example, a lot of people are getting 15+kmpl on the Baleno whereas mine hasnt gone past 11

In India FE is like a mine bigger than yours contest, many people like to quote numbers which are much higher than actuals to Boast/ feel good.

In actually checking FE, I have noted that in short trips inner city with 4 people compared with driving cars without A/C single person on Highways far away from city, the same car will give 50-60% FE between the most favorable commutes and least favorable type of usage Tank to Tank basis.

I don't some people claiming 19 KMPl in Short distance inner city commutes online is accurate or based on actuals.

The other trick which some posters do on long trips is drive well out of the city when the engine is fully warmed up Switch the A/C off, reset the FE trip meter, drive for say 40-50 kms with the car coasting at around 50-55 kmph. Take a mobile pic of the MID and claim that is 100% A/C 4 adults plus luggage yadda yadda- my car gives great mileage.

Just to needle these folks I drove in a similar manner for 50-60 kmph near Mettur. Can I get this Milage through normal driving- absolutely not.

Okay guys, some thing I want to know about the car, is anyone getting any kind of squeaking noise when applying heavy brakes. This is from day 1 of me buying the car, got it checked at the service center, they checked the brakes in front of me but found nothing, some also told me that it happens in new cars sometimes, is that true or is there any problem in the brakes?

I experience this in my zest only during rains. When the car runs for a few kms, the sound vanishes. I think this is normal when the brake discs and/or pads are wet.

Okay but its a constant noise when applying heavy breaks, but I think you are right.
I believe It happens when murk (or mud particles like small bits of sandstone) is present in the discs and when the brake pads gets into action these get into contact and make the noise, however since it's related to brakes, suggest to get it checked with the service center.

I have the same issue with my City and Innova right now
Both have brand new brake pads and service centres couldnt figure out what was wrong, both places reseat brake pads, re greased etc but still present
On extremely sunny, dry days, both are fine as I learned this week
So in short, this is normal during the rains
Could also be break in period for new brakes/brake pads so let it settle in or get it checked just in case, compare with TD car or something

Thank you guys for all info, will get it soon as soon as possible.
kkn13 is right, its either due to cold weather or brake pads still need to bed-in.

Go for a test drive on a empty road and pump the brake few times but not hard. So that the rotor and brake pads will heat-up. If its due to weather, the problem should solve early but if its bed-in then it takes time. Checkout bed-in procedure for more details.

Meanwhile check for any imperfections on the rotor. i.e deposits, deep scratches or etc. Post snapshots if you can.

I don't see anything wrong in your car. My celerio AMT gives between 12-13.5 Kmpl in the city at the max. Dzire is a 4 cylinder 1200cc engine where as mine is a 3 cylinder 1000cc engine. You cannot expect more than this from petrol engines imo.

The ARAI figures are 22kmpl for dezire, so it should give at least 20kmpl on average. Most cars are 4 cylinder 1.2 and non-Maruti cars average 18 kmpl. While the city mileage is okay, the highway mileage seems to be too low.

Not really though, my friend's baleno gave an average of 20 when we went from Delhi to Haridwar and back. Every time AC was at 100%. Somehow I was also shocked to see this mileage with full AC

In my opinion, there are 3 layers to this:
a) Completely depends on the amount of traffic you get on your route. My wife's Celerio gives 12-13kmpl in bad traffic and ~15kmpl in not so bad traffic. Highways with AC are a different story with FE going close to 20 kmpl. This is true not just for maruti but any car in general
b) Maruti cars are super light when it comes to the new models like Baleno. This surely aids FE both in city runs and on highways. Baleno can easily give 17-18 kmpl on highways with AC when driven at 80-100kmph
c) This is purely based on my experience: The MID in maruti cars is over optimistic and generally has an error of 1.5-2 kmpl when measured against the tankful to tankful method. A Baleno showing 20kmpl on MID wont actually be giving more than 18-18.5kmpl. As I said, this is purely based on my experience and observations

Having said that, 1500 kms on the Odo is too soon to worry about FE. if there is any doubt, head to the highway and keep speeds in check (80-100kmph). Measure FE by tankful to tankful method and I am sure you will easily get 17-18kmpl even at this time with a Dzire (tyre pressure should be correct)

Re: Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Launched

I don't think so this car will be black bluster selling 18k units like earlier it settles between 13k to 15k units inclusive of taxi sales. It lacks the character, just my feelings after hands on session with this car.
Take this then . New DZIRE clocks 30934 units in August sales[clap]
