Re: Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Launched

I don't think so this car will be black bluster selling 18k units like earlier it settles between 13k to 15k units inclusive of taxi sales. It lacks the character, just my feelings after hands on session with this car.

Even I felt the same when I first saw the updated Dzire. Now, with the advent of GST, people will start looking at SUV's and the next segment as well because of the lower prices. The price gap will not change but the next segment will become a little more affordable to mass market. Also, I think the looks (subjective) of the new Dzire are ok'ish especially when viewed from the rear.

Re: Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Launched

Real reasons are below(my opinion)

1. Divorce from Swift( Dzire should establish itself long way to go)
2. Everyone talking about 50mm wider but the fact is that they reduced 50 height too(car last the stance). +50mm, -50mm(except visual feel of space due to low seating especially back, redesigned door panels and less protruding dash technically no difference).
3. Ground clearance reduced, height reduced too, already sub 4m car with such low ground clearance looking like Zen with added boot(Zen is curvy you know you can add boot to Zen easily like opel corsa).
3. Dash and steering looks like new Honda amaze, what is the difference.
4. Last quarter looks looks Honda amaze.

Finally it is nothing special than any other sub 4m compact sedans (previous model at least ugly[lol] compared to other cars in compact sedan segment) so why to buy look somewhere else which is VFM or better car than this.

Dzire has been opened for the fleet market as well. Still I dont think it will generate less than 7k even for private buyers.

Re: Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Launched

Hi All,
Am buying my first car which is a blue Maruti Dzire Vxi AGS. I had booked the car on 18th may, now showroom guys are telling me that my car has been shipped from factory and they gave me a chasis number and Engine no in a mail.
They are asking me to make the payment tomorrow, is this a normal procedure ?

As this is my first car purchase am not aware of the procedure, without seeing or inspecting the car they are asking me to do the full payment tomorrow, and the car is expected to be delivered to me withing next 15 days. Is this the norm ?

There is no such norm. I will suggest you not to give a single penny before pdi is done by you

Hi Maverick,
Do not pay a single rupee until you see the car and do the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) check. It is very important for any car. This is your first car and make sure you don't get a lemon or accept a car with defects. There is no way a dealer can force you to pay the money.

I came across this situation when I bought my Celerio AMT. In the first place I paid the booking amount during launch knowing that it is refundable. And the dealer played the same game. Then I said I am not going to proceed with the purchase and asked them to cancel the booking and refund my money. Then the same salesman called me back on the next day and said he would arrange for a PDI. I strictly demanded for a PDI because, my previous vehicle which I bought in 2009 was a Swift VDI that came with an engine tapet sound which I had to live with it for 6 years and above over a lakh kms. I have neglected the inspection process and there is nothing I can do once I paid the money in full.

And for the same reason they have quoted a low price for my swift during the resale of my vehicle in 2014, which I sold it back to the dealer in exchange for celerio AMT.

I also bought a GT TDI too but dealer offered a PDI check without any drama and later I paid the full amount. So this should clarify your doubt. Good luck with your purchase.

I liked new dzire very much in media coverages. I liked it from all the angles in pictures and videos. But, I don't like it much when I see one on the roads. The lower trims don't appeal to me. Excess of chrome is ugly. The design of front grill and thick chrome pasted on it is just hideous. Ford Aspire still has the best front, while Tigor has the best rear among all the compact sedans.

Re: Next Generation Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Launched

Is there any one in Pune who had booked prior to launch and got the delivery of the car?

I booked on May 08, 2017 , VXI red, through Sai Services Deccan Gymkhana. No sign of delivery as of yet. I have been hounding them for delivery , shot some emails to GM sales also but no headway.

Today I got a letter from them saying that delivery is further delayed due to delivery hold by Maruti. Earlier they were saying end of July but now it seems it's going to be August mid. Planning to cancel the booking and go for Xcent or Figo (diesel).

What say guys ?

Between Xcent and Figo, definitely the Figo diesel
Off late bookings are taking longer in all brands for some reason
A few friends of mine as well as myself are waiting for our respective cars to come through
Exceptions are those still selling 2016 pre GST cars

Thanks Dr Rishabh and Volksjäger for your inputs, but i had to pay. They said the waiting line for this car is huge and am in the front, if i dont pay then somebody else will pay and pickup the car. They assigned me the chasis number and i have an official mail from them. Hope there are no issues with the car.
I have made the payments and waiting for delivery this week.

By the way when i was at the showroom this weekend, i test drove Dzire AGS and i loved it.
Those who say AGS can never match a CVT then probably they havent driven old CVTs, my friend has a 2011 model Honda City CVT which i have driven many times. As a driver i do feel the gear changes and little lag in that CVT engine.
So considering my experience with that I just loved the AGS in new Dzire, there is a slight lag from moving to 1st to 2nd gear. But for bangalore city traffic the accerleration and pickup was very adequate for daily driving. The engine is smooth and the gear shifts are smooth after 2nd gear.
If you are in a stop go traffic or moving below 40kmph then lifting the accelerator ever so slightly after 1st gear doesnt make u feel the 2nd gear change also.
I just loved the engine smoothness and refinement of this AGS 1.2 petrol.

2011 City wasnt CVT , it was an older torque converter afaik
The dolphin/ZX and the current models have CVT though and CVTs dont have gears, they emulate gears unless shifted into Sport mode wherein it feels odd as gearshifts disappear

AGS does have jerkier gearshifts but it fares better with the diesel 1.3 MJD than petrols. Its pretty ok with 1.2 petrol but I highly suggest checking out the diesel as the additional torque does help AGS/AMT alot

AGS is excellent for bumper to bumper traffic

It is the usual tactics played by these sales reps. Anyways 99% you won't get a bad car. Here in Hyderabad, we have many Maruti dealerships, so before booking the car we must make such arrangements. If he disagrees for a PDI check, then we can gladly give the business to another dealer. Dzire has many takers, so the dealer is taking advantage of the situation. I can understand that. Anyways I wish you good luck with your purchase. And there is nothing that can wrong in a NA petrol engine. And even I too prefer AGS over the CVT for the sole reason "lack of feel". But a 1.5 CVT in a hatchback like Jazz or Yaris will be powerful and smoothest to drive in the city traffic. And for a city like Banglore, Automatic is a must. But any particular reason why you chose 1.2 Petrol AGS over 1.3 Diesel AGS ? As diesel is more frugal, torquey which is perfect for city traffic.
