Re: Next Generation Swift & Dzire Launch By 2017

Dear All,

Please help me to decode the Insurance and RTO charges for similar priced cars.

I was comparing current Dzire prices with Tigor to predict how VFM new dzire would be when compared to Tigor. (There are reports that new dzire wud be 30-50k costlier than current one).

While checking on road prices (for Pune location) I noticed below 2 things.
(price is checked online on carwale.com)
1. the RTO charges for Tigor is 15k more for similar ex-room price.
2. the insurance amt for Tigot is 9k more...

Dexire VXI ABS
---------------
Ex-Showroom Price 6,39,911
RTO 61,350
Insurance 22,049
On-Road Price (Pune) 7,23,310

Tigor XZ(O)
------------
Ex-Showroom Price 6,39,011
RTO 76,021
Insurance 31,519
On-Road Price (Pune) 7,46,551

Actually, this is how almost any mass vehicle manufacturing works. The assembly line is moving slow enough for the task to be done, and fast enough to prevent bottlenecks.

Tens of factories visited, includes Suzuki plant in Japan 20 years ago, this was the first time I have seen, so commented.

Best looking compact sedan hands down. The main problem with CS is that its rear looks chopped down, whereas in the new Dzire (at-least in the photos ), it looks well integrated with the rest of the body.

Don't know, but I personally feel Tigor is best looking CS as of now.

Though this Dzire facelift doesn't look ugly at least in pics.

I have seen silver Tigor in flesh on road, though I am yet to make my mind about its look ,I realized that dark colours will be best for the Tigor to highlight its coupeish design.

The new Dzire looks much closer to sedan than a compact sedan.

While we are on Tigor ,it would have been nice if TATA had kept the front bumper similar to geneva edition. It brings in more character to the car IMHO.

My feelings towards to this new dzire are Amby in new avatar, does look small in flesh compared to old dzire. Let us see how this sells. As Akula said new dzire looks more like sedan than compact sedan. Myself could not able to adopt Tigar rear looks is it really compact sedan or a new segment of different kind notch back(style back).

Regardless of the looks the 28+ kmpl mileage and the availability of diesel AMT and all these new features means the new Dzire has the power to even cannibalize its own siblings the Ignis and Baleno

That's strange, how recent was this? If the factories you visited were still using old-fashioned batch production, I wouldn't be surprised if they had stop-and-go lines, but it's pretty rare now, with the onset of Lean Manufacturing techniques, which favor smooth parts flow. Almost all major manufacturers: Toyota, Ford, FCA, etc. are using Lean to bring down manufacturing costs.

Basically, older designs would use 'takt time' to define a pause frequency, but newer designs use it to define a travel rate that keeps the part within an operators' work zone.

Sorry if I went into too much detail, but I'm an Industrial Engineer and manufacturing is what I love/do. [:)]
