Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel) | 3rd Service Update | 20,000 Kms: Ownership Review

I am facing difficulty with night driving because of stock H4 bulbs.I want a plug and play solution so that the warranty is not void. Is there any better option than Philips Extreme Vision+130% ?
I am also considering LED lights but without wire cut, just plug and play, is it possible?

Category not found!

Will this be of any help?
Seems like a good option for new Figo and Aspire

You're lucky then [;)]
Yesterday, I got my tires changed (4 tires) to Michelin Energy XM2 and had to pay Rs.5860 (after discount of Rs.1000 from the dealer) in total.
As a followup to the above post, I have driven around 300 kms post the tire change. The difference is massive with the Michelins on. The car rides in a different way altogether. The noise level has reduced so much that I can relate it to my friend's Verna 1.6CRDI. I am not saying NVH is as good though [;)]. Engine noise is better muted in Verna and the 16 inchers on the Verna does a better job in dismissing the small humps.
The ride quality has also improved.
The tires are masking speeds well and I got my first traffic ticket for speed violation yesterday! Don't think that the speeds that high though, just couple of kms more than the limit on the state highways here.

Hello All , Over the past couple of weeks , whenever I turn the steering wheel of the Figo at idle I kinda hear a grinding noise which is quite prominent . This doesn't happen all the time , to be specific this has happened only on 2 occasions . The noise disappears as soon you set the car in motion and turn the wheel . What could be the cause of this ? Thank you in advance for any inputs.

Do you hear the noise from the front near the tyres ? It could be lose gravel or uneven road.

Mine is a silver Figo. I had scratched the front bumper once and had to repaint the left corner. We went to a local painter guy and he took us to a paint mixing shop with the car. They use computer mixing and got the exact match. Costed only Rs. 500 for the paint. Labor extra for the painter. Hope this helps.

If it is a slight vibration at the extreme left / right position of the steering, then it is normal for the Figo.

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel) | 3rd Service Update | 20,000 Kms: Ownership Review

Friends,

I own a Ford Aspire Titanium Diesel. It is exactly one month old and has run 1600KM. Being on run-in period, hasn't pushed it much and waiting for the first service to be over. The car, so far has been brilliant to drive and there is no second thoughts about that.

I have owned and driven M800/Alto/WagonR/i10 all were petrol mills and Vista/Swift which were diesel. Along side have driven host of other cars including Punto/Amaze/Polo. Aspire has been the best I have driven till date on a personal note, very peppy and makes me feel in control. Though I haven't pushed the throttle hard, still never once felt underpowered as whatever acceleration I give is more than suffice to overtake other cars and zoom past.

Having said, there are 3 issues I need advice or your comments.

1. Headlight: Whatever I have said about driving pleasure holds good as long as the Sun is up. Night driving has been a big let down as the headlight doesn't inspire any confidence in driving beyond 50 -60kmph. Much more difficult in the pothhole/bump ridden south chennai roads

2. Road Noise: I drive along OMR so able to maintain speeds between 70 - 80kmph (run-in period so hasn't gone beyond that). But even in this speed, i distinctly hear a hovering/humming sound once I go beyond the 50 or 60kmph mark. Not sure how it would be once I take it in highway at triple digit speeds.

3. Underbody scrapping: It is a 174MM ground clearance car on paper. But with 4 moderately built adults, it easily scraps bumps if I drive over it at 15 -20kmph in 2nd gear. I literally had to bring the car to halt (if the bump is little to high) and go past the bump very carefully to avoid scrapping. Even then, if the bump is little higher, it still scraps a bit. I still own the Wagon R( pretty much have driven all my cars through the same roads) and never had this issue before. Same road, same occupants and on the same day, I drove past the bump easily in 2nd gear in my Wagon R

Please advice if anybody else is facing these issues or am I being too picky being a new car.

Hi marcprad , about the issues.
1. I found the lamps throw to be sufficient. You can buy philips extreme vision but those too have mixed reviews.
2. Does your tyres come with mrf zvtv ? Those are noisy. Just report it at the service center and you may get new tyres free of cost. Many members have got their tyre changed because the noise was too loud.
3.never had a problem with underbody scraping. Try to cross the speed breaker diagonally and it won't scrap.

There are distinct dark spots in the lamp throw, hope you get what I mean. Even with the fog lamp is on. It certainly needs a realignment which could help make it little better but I'm off the view that the lights are very in adequate. Any idea what is the stock bulb?

Mine comes with a Apollo Alnac and will raise this during the service.

Reg the scrapping, I understand your point but it looks like the car sags a bit in the middle when its full. Question here is when my other car with lesser ground clearance could go past without scrapping, why can't Aspire which supposedly has a higher ground clearance.

Need to have this checked during service.

The Aspire has a front air deflector, its a rubbery plastic piece, actually if thats the part thats scrapping it still will make a noise , so do make sure its not the under body thats getting scratched

Regarding the suspension sag, yes Ford suspension does sag a lot when loaded, new Aspire has softer springs and gas filled gas shocks, the gas shocks are pretty stiff but the springs are very soft, almost as soft as SWifts springs, so with 4 or more on board the springs do make it do large see saw (up/down)motions, I too observed this while taking test drive, so the ground clearance even though quoted as 174 mm, with more than 3 on board its as good as 160 mm or so. same issue is there with Amaze as well.

Thanks for the clarification. It mostly looks like that way.

It isn't the front rubber part but twice it scrapped somewhere between the middle and rear. And yes, when i literally halt and drive at may be 10kph, it doesn't scrap much. Tt is very evident when the speed is little higher and your explanation holds good. When the front wheel go past the bump little faster, it does give a see saw motion which is why I guess it scraps. This wouldn't happen if we drive really slow.

Headlight and this issue makes it all the more hard when it is dark as it scraps if I miss the bump/path hole. Had to be very watch full and it takes the driving pleasure away.

Approach the speed breakers at an angle and the GC should suffice. No amount of GC can save it from unplanned Speed breakers put up by idiots though. Yours being aspire which is slightly longer than the Figos could result in some amount of scraping towards the back due to the departure angle. For the headlights if you are driving on dual carriages mostly then upgrading to higher specs will not be of much help. It will be better than stock but not much. Over time I have come to conclusion that only aux lights can save the Figos bad light output.

@AllHyundaiCars - The noise can be heard only when the car is idle and when there is steering input but like I said it has happened only twice .
@SatSon - There is no vibration but a grinding noise was very audible . That definitely can't be a known issue (?) .

The problem hasn't occurred for a while now , I just wanted to know if this could be a serious issue in the long run and if a problem like this requires prompt attention or if it doesn't pose a threat , I'll have it checked during the 30k service interval , the car has already done 29k , So,it should cover the 30k mark in the next two weeks.
