Sorry to see those scratch marks on your Polo jihu123. Although, going by how you have described the particular accident scenario, I would say you are lucky to have escaped with those minor scratches on your car. Do try getting them removed by applying a rubbing compound first if you think the paint hasn't chipped off. From going by the pics, i think rubbing compound should do the job. Else a re-paint would be the last resort.

I see some tire marks. Can be removed by some mild spirit. Just an idea: try rubbing some nail polish remover on a small part to check.

Hey Jihu

Sorry to see that your car met with an accident. My car had an accident a couple of weeks back too. But mine was far worse. The LHS rear door had deep dents and scratches. I got the work done from a trusted local garage here in TVM. I didn't claim insurance because I wanted the NCB (trust me. You will save a truck load of money 4 years down the line). The dented and painted the doors and the area in front of the rear tyre (the front LHS door and area in front of the tyre had dents too cuz of the same accident) and the total cost was Rs. 3500. I was shocked because I expected them to charge atleast Rs. 8000 or so. And the job they did was simply outstanding. There is no proof that the car has met with an accident. [:D]
So don't worry. Your dent seems very minor. Also try rubbing compound on the black marks. I'm sure it will go. Cheers mate.

Well, I am sure that rubbing compound will work to a certain extent. But the body also has a bent on it. I am looking for the magnetic bent removal tool which can pull the body back to its original shape.
Do update if anyone has more information about it.

Right now, am in bangalore. Will try it once I reach home! I don't have any rubber compound with me presently.

Well, once I had an accident which damaged the front right quarter and the front bumper. I repaired it from a local garage. Might get this done from there too. Not sure about that. The garage owner is our friend. He does thing good & provides discount too. [:)]
Will check the paintless dent removal kit before that.

Yesterday, polo impressed me again with its never let down ability. Yesterday night (31st), it was raining heavily here in bangalore. We left of from our cousin's house & since it was raining heavily. We decided to set off to some mall. My bro took his phone and routed to Royal Meenakshi Mall in Google Maps. Then, we set off according to the navigation. Since we were already in gullies. The map was taking us to even more deeper gullies which took some time to be realised. It was too late to turn, so we went even further through the abandoned roads. Plus, the heavy rain was making it difficult to see the road ahead. The car scraped many times on stones, potholes etc with 6 people on board.
Sooner, we realised that the google map isn't showing the correct location. Maybe coz it was in Beta mode during that time. Then, we stopped checking on GPS & took a left turn through which the main road can be seen. As we approached towards the road slowly, the back end felt like floating in the heavy rain. Actually, it was. The water from the left side was pulling the car to the right side. This made it even heavier to control despite 6 on board. Atlast, we reached the main road. Again after many twists & turns. We ended up on a road which was flooded with water. To scare us more, there was even a civic lying on the flooded street with water upto its doors. Was confused whether to go or not. But thought of giving it a go since the silencer of polo is bent downwards from above which gave us more confidence. The car crossed it brilliantly.
Now my love towards my polo has increased even more. Even if it used to scrape most of the potholes, speedbumps etc. It had never let me down! And I wish the same for the future too. [:)]

Also, found a Castrol Magnetic Engine Oil in the boot along with the spare tyre. I guess the service person bymistakely kept it there & then must have forgotten to take it.
The car was last given to service center about 2-3 months back to add the spacers to increase GC & a General Service. And I saw the oil just now! [sleep]

Covered 800+ kms in last 5 days. Still getting really annoyed when the car scrapes the hump under full load. My father gets really irritated when the underbelly scrapes. Just because of this, he's even thinking of selling it due to this (chances are less than 10%).

1) my polo has already got the spacers from VW. Even if it does the job in front. At the back side, underbelly scrapes under full load. Is there any practical solution for this?

2) Also, my brake pads will be probably changed at the time of the 2nd service (4 months or 6500km). So I was thinking why don't I check the aftermarket branded brake pads in the market. I am sure there would be really good stuffs in the market. What do you think about this?

Upsize the wheels.

Jihu, try upsizing the tyres, else please tell me how do you tackle the potholes and road bumps? You drive it in a crossed manner to prevent the body from scraping?

Jihu. Are the potholes up north that bad? Down south (TVM and KLM), there aren't that many potholes. The ones that are there are easily manageable. My car has scraped only three or four times under full load. That too on a speed breaker in EKM. Never faced the problem after that. Plus, it was the mudflap that scraped and not the underbelly.
If you have 6 people in your car, I guess it is a given that the car will scrap its belly. Because the car is overloaded [:D]

Usually we tackle it by driving in a crossed manner over speedhump but in traffic we are forced to drive straight & scrape the under body.

The underbody scrapes only on long drives with 5 on board with some luggage. On city, the underbody doesn't scrape but the mudguard scrapes like 75% of the times. Will remove the mudguard soon. Can't bear the scrape sound. It hurts me! [sad]

Do not worry about the traffic, because its your car which is going to get hurt, the best way is take it on the road bumps real slow, once i saw this BMW doing a great bump carefully and did not hear any sound as the under-body scraping.

Anyways these low GC cars really makes embarrassing moment at times.[frustration]

@GM88, Sanke1 & VipinLJ - thanks, the rubbing compound did work. Now only the bent is present there.

@Vishwas - hmm. I will make sure of that. One more thing which makes the underbody scrape is the suspension. Polo's suspension is tuned more for comfort at low speeds, so the car has more action when it goes through a pothole or a hump.

80% of the damage on the rear left door has been fixed by rubbing compound. Now feel better!
That's good news. I am sure it won't be an eye sore any more. You can get the bend straighten later. Regarding the underbelly scraping too often, I guess you should get the underbody engine protection guard to prevent any possible damages. I guess ToughGuy has installed it on his Polo. You could ask him.
