Just wanted to say that it takes some time to de-accelerate after releasing the pedal, couldn't think of any other words ;)
Yes, it does take some time for sensors to detect the movements/ throttle position. I don't know why, but it should not be too much although present in my Safari too but as this was one of the first CRDI's from Tata some errors a\should have tobe accepted as features.

Crdi and multijets has certain unpleasant delays which we have to live with for what we are paying for.Don't expect run on tap response like a high end sports car.

But certain error in ecu can exagerate that. Better get it checked from some reputable person.

Just a minor update ... completed 1.7L km last week. Bought the vehicle at 1.61L km, no issues during last 9K km. That's certainly not a big difference but hope it just grows bigger and bigger without any issues [:)]

I sincerely hope it stays that way. Its good to see your Safari lumbering along at this mileage. While I do not see much cause of worry with the engiine, I just hope the body and the electricals do not play up and trouble you often.

Keep lumbering!

Nice to see your hotty crossing 1.7L kms, Just take good care of your safari and safari would care for you.
Is the water inside cabin problem solved. Did you find and eliminate the cause of water in your cabin !

Still upset with the water issue, its a big mystery. Going to dry out mats with the blower and then check if its really coming from outside or due to AC. Though I am pretty much sure that its the outside water.

OT: Reminds me of two lines from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's Rhyme of The Ancient Mariner:

"Water water everywhere and all the boards did shrink;
Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink!"

Post a few snaps of the damp area. Maybe then I can help you.

@Sam please check the snaps - marked in red to indicate where it gets wet. One is for the driver seat and the other behind it.

@umalkars: For the driver's seat area, the AC condenser could be a culprit. For the area behind it, I am 100% sure that some grommet is missing from the floor. Please take out the carpeting and check. If this is too much of a chore, bend down and inspect the vehicle from the underside to look for any missing grommets.

Alternatively, try the brown paper trick that I mentioned in an earlier post to trace the source of water.

+1, i faced the same issue sometime back, and the culprit was indeed the AC condenser. Not a big issue, a simple pipe fix will solve the issue.

Which pipe I need to check for? Can you please post some details?

@Sam Will surely check again for the missing grommets. But is it possible that even the behind mat could be wet due to AC?

@umalkars: Water cannot reach the rear seat area in isolation. If the culprit is indeed the AC condensor tube, then the seepage is most probably occuring through the cutouts for the clutch/accelerator/brake pedals. Check the carpet under the driver's seat. Is it wet? If yes, then it is 100% given that the ac condensor tube is responsible for wetting the rear seat area too.

Take your Safari to an aftermarket AC fitment shop and ask the guy to route the AC condensor tube properly. If he has never handled a Safari AC earlier, then better take it to TASS. Once the condensor tube is routed the way it is supposed to be, and there are no missing grommets on the floor, your water seepage problem would disappear.

@Sam I guess you are right. I checked the mats before leaving for home from the office yesterday and they were dry. Drove home with AC on and the mats seemed to be a little wet when I stopped. It was pretty sunny then, hence no question of water seeping in from outside / any other source.

Let me take the vehicle to some AC mechanic this weekend; will update the post with the outcome.

BTW, anybody aware of a good/reliable AC mechanic for Safari in Pune / PCMC area?
