I bought a Ciaz ZXI pearl snow white petrol just before Modi decided to get rid of excise duty exemption, so saved some 30-40k. Also since diesel has been deregulated, there is absolutely no point in buying a diesel car any more. Within 8-12 months from now, diesel prices will equal petrol prices, since diesel prices are no more controlled by the government. More ache-din to come I guess.
Anyways, I have driven all cars (Vento, Ecosport, Sail, Citi etc) in this segment and came to the conclusion that none of these beat Ciaz. The closest competition came from Vento, but after driving both the petrol and diesel variants (Highline), I felt Vento's suspension sucked compared to Ciaz, the clutch felt hard and there was slight vibration from the clutch pedals, no dead pedal (come on!! and they say this is a drivers car!!

) etc.
The only grouse I have with Ciaz is the braking system. Compared to Citi's feather touch braking (or even Ecosport), Ciaz fairs very poorly. And the build quality cannot be compared to Vento's of course. Ciaz weighs just 1010kg, which explains the high mileage, but at the cost of build quality.
Apart from that, just love the car. It isn't under powered at all. I got leather steering covers, puncture kit, floor mats for free from Sagar Bangalore. I also did not pay the Rs 3000+ quoted as "accessories" in the price chart and got it free.
