Hi all,
The Omni is in tinkering stage, putty is also going on, the tinker seems to be doing a decent job, but waiting for the final outcome eagerly.
Let the job be done patiently

I am planning to paint it in Blaze Blue in which the new Omni is also available. But finding it a little difficult to make the Workshop guy understand the actual color.
Show him the picture that you posted of an omni here, he might get an idea, try to get the color code if possible.

I'd preferred white over blue.

This is the Blaze Blue Color, Trying to find out which brand of paint is good, Dupont or 3M (BUT THIS IS NOT MY CAR-GOT IT FROM A WEBSITE) View attachment 116618
Buddy are you fixing Type 3 Dashboard,if You are doing so,please get dashboard rod fixed before the paint, cause it may require hammering and Tinkering, which may spoil your color, shape of the pillars later.

Another have they checked fixing the windshield prior to color, any issues with leakages must be fixed before color.

Hi buddy,

Thanks for the timely information, I will call him up tomorrow morning, also get the dash with rod and ask him to do it as you suggested.

showstopper27 Re:
you can put universal front arm rest
Hi Showstopper,

Is there really such a thing available? Will check on this.

Vishwas: Show him the picture that you posted of an omni here, he might get an idea, try to get the color code if possible.

Hi Vishwas, Can you please suggest a color brand or will the paint be available at Maruti's authorised dealer for purchase?

Dear TAIns,

I checked with my mechanic about getting the anti rust coating done on platform but he said it's is not really necessary, In fact I also checked the vehicle once and found not many areas rusted in a span of 19 years. But please suggest if it's really needed or an under chassis coating is to be done to ensure rust free platform for the whole chassis.

Would appreciate more inputs please. :)

Hey buddy please get anti corrosion treatment done, from outside then if mechanic is not doing, will not cost you upward than 2000 bucks, and also get the floor painted in matte black color, mine was to painted, since than no rust on floor. If not full floor than get atleast front floor anti rust coated,

I think the matte black was some kind of anti rust though.

WINDSHIELD:Another thing try and fix the windshield first than later, cause you have changed the front show, which may cause some type of miss alignment and leakage issue

you can change the color, if its legally possible
In fact since the old and new colours are both blue (different shades) you really don't need to change it on the RC.

My suggestion would be go for a non-standard colour. Try for the orange or something bright like the Nano.

Even I thought the same. Any colors of nano will look good for maruti Omni also. Pls check.

Hi Vishwas,

I showed him the pic and he got the idea of the new color in which the new Omni is available.

Thank you P3T3R for suggesting, but I am tryin to paint it with the original colour and to avoid the hassle to change in RC book

HI Patkar,

I got the new type 3 dashboard with rod and gave it to him.

The painter told that he would give 3 coats of paint other than the usual grey coloured base primer coat. I told him that when the work is completed, the newly painted car should get the finish like a new showroom omni without any waves or dents when observed from different angles. Let's see, I hope he lives upto the expectation, Any idea on how much would the new rim cost? Mine is old one, I am also considering of getting new original wheel caps meant for omni rather than changing the rim.

Those are not chrome ,they are made up of steel, and of good quality,i think they are they best among what i have bought and worth for money.About OE wheel caps you can surely fit it on your omni provided it should fit your old rims, you can go and give it a try.
Have you bought caps for nut which will fit on dashboard.

On Monday I saw the first coat of blaze blue on the van being tried. It was made dull/faded and some more pasting was done to ensure removal of any small dents. Today we went to realize that the car was completely painted in black and quite taken aback. When inquired he said it was painted in black to check for any sort of small dents which he said is visible only in black. He later said he would paint with blue again after rubbing all black off.

My question to all of you is: Have you guys come across such a technique? Do you feel whatever he has done with the explanation is valid? I will be going again tomorrow to check on the progress, let's see

I don't think this explanations seem to be valid, haven't ever came across this technique any where or heard,Dent and smoothness is felt during initial paint stage.
Experts like ss80 and varun may provide highlight on it.
