Hi again Shantanu, I dont have digital multimeter, i checked in analog it shows 11.9V in high beam :frown: So there's a prob in my alty wright? Till now i haven't faced any prob yet. Shall i check it once with mechanic or continue with that?? {Bulb is 100/90W*2} No Relay too. But i'm getting 14.5V when i rise the engine.

I want to ask you one more thing, this not about electrical, If this is not a wright thread then i'm sorry, Few days back i saw a zen and also 800 with modified tyre, i mean a small portion of a tyre is out of the body and it wast looking very HOT [:)] . So my question is Which rim size is it? and what might be the tyre dimension??? Please do tell me...

Hello Hemanth,
When you checked with high beams on and got 11.9v was the engine on ??
Please start the engine and then check the voltage. When you are getting 14.5v with engine on is there any light on ??? Which analog meter were you using ??

Regarding the wide tyres sorry I don't know much about rim sizes.

Please start an ownership thread so that we can discuss more about car.

Yes, Okay this is how it goes... I turned the engine ON when i rise the
engine a bit i mean at 2000rmp i'm getting 14.5V, On Low bean its 12.2 or 12.3V, On high beam its 11.9V. radiator fan was off in both the results. Its a "Sunwa multimeter" can check both AC as well as DC.

Thank you sir,
Regarding the voltage, I'll soon upgrade my alty. And I'll not use all the lights together.

Now regarding your fog lights. (sorry for the late reply)

things required.JPG
First of all these thing would be required

bumper.JPG
I saw a spark bumper, there are 3 mounting holes to attach the lights using screws. As you can see in the image the lamps have 3 mounting brackets which are fixed to the bumper.

fog light mod.JPG
As you can see in the above pics. The local make fog lights can be easily opened by unscrewing the nut(as pointed by arrow). When you will open the lamp you will find a H3 bulb, a lens and a reflector. You will have to check for the mounting holes in the bumper and according to it drill holes in the lamp's outer cover.
You will have to fabricate few clamps to hold the lights to the bumper.

wiring diagram.JPG
This is the wiring diagram for fog lights

fog-L.jpg
White driving lights are better than yellow ones if using the local made ones. (As local made lamps do not use good yellow lenses)

Estimated cost for this DIY:

Fog lamp pair 150/-
Clamp(fabricated) 100/-
Relay 100/-
Wires 100/-
Switch 20/-
20amp fuse 20/-
metal clips 10/-

total 500/-

If you are getting 14.5v without any load it means that the alty is fine. Please dont rev the engine to 2000 rpm. Jut idle the car and check the voltage. If you are getting 13.70 on idle then also the alty is fine. The voltage drop on high beams may be due to your old wiring harness and relay. As they are not able to take 100W *2 load and get heated up. The heated wires causes resistance and thus the voltage drops down.
Just check the voltage while idling.

I think the sunwa multimeter is the one used in the electronics repair shops. It always gives accurate results if zero is properly adjusted.

My god My god, That was fabulous explanation and its tempting to do it immdieatly, but am in a important project where I need some concentration for next 15-20 days. BTW, the first one you have said is to fix in the provision given by the company in the bumper. the second one is drilling holes in bumper and fix it i belive. and i assume you wanted to do both in my sparky.

Just I would like to have only the first part. and which switch in the existing setup has to be used

and since my car has the option there shoud be some provisions for fog lamp indicator, switch etc. if we do it byourselves is it possible to do all workable.

pls find the some parts of the user manaul of my car.

Dear Sir,
No need to drill any holes in the bumper. The bumpers already have pre fixed nuts in them for installing the fog lights. 3 nuts for each light is provided. YOu will have to drill holes in the fog light. When you will dis assemble the fog lights, you will have the bowl shaped thing(the outer cover). You will have to drill holes in the outer covers to fix the custom made clamps. These custom made clamps would be fixed to the bumper using bolts.

Is there any fog lamp switch provided(like the diagram) in your car ???

No it is not there. But I think I can get that kind of switch from service center so that I need not to have a seperate switch for fog lamps

Hi Shantanu.lko, regarding alternator,

Why not try re-winding the shaft, tighter the winding, more winding increases.

You can get almost 10 amps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it surely after some days as these days its daily raining here and I need my car for going to office. Next week I may also go to meerut for a tour. I'll surely search for an esteem or swift's alty in the grey market.

In that market I would be unable to test the alty for voltage. So can you please suggest how much should I pay if I get swift or esteem's alternator. And what things should I check ???

Dear sir
If you change the headlight switch, you will have to change the complete headlight switch stalk. In my opinion, separate switch would be better.

Don't buy Esteem's its only 55 amps, better buy Swift's. You can pay around 2.5k to 3k. You can't check it there. But you need to get it repaired before making it work. [:)]

OKIE. Thanks for the valuable suggestion Mr. Shantanu. I think there used to be a blank switch or provision for switch near by AC switch.
