Today bought two things. I was unable to go to the market so asked one of my friend who was going there. The first thing is a USB FM Transmitter.

Bought this for Rs 300/- Very good transmitting power. Range is upto 10 mtrs, sufficient for my car stereo. The sound quality is very good.

Next is a useless thing a 12v air compressor. :stupid: Was willing to buy this from many days so asked my friend to buy that too. [frustration] It costs Rs. 600

The meter is used to read the tyre's pressure.

It does not have any tank to store air. Continuously air is flown out from the pipe. Dear friends do not buy this as its a waste of money. I'll plan some DIY using this later on.

OKIE. Thanks for the valuable suggestion Mr. Shantanu. I think there used to be a blank switch or provision for switch near by AC switch.

Pls see the pic I was talking about. They have provided this swithc for rear defrogger. I do not remember any dummy switch or just provision is available. But I think I can utilize this.

If there is a switch attached in the console then you will have to trace down the wire, from the switch to the coupler. In the coupler you will find two unused ports. You can then attach another two wires to connect the relay.

Regarding the Alternator Upgrade

I was searching about some alternators on the internet and found the Lucas TVS Price list http://www.amarsales.com/productlist/Lucas-TVS-price_list2011.pdf

In the list the Maruti 800 alternator is shown as 50amps. But our cars come with 35 amp alternators.

AND DOES THE NANO COME WITH A 70 AMPS ALTY AND THE PRICE IS ONLY 5101/- [surprise]

Hi Shantanu.lko, the 50 amps used to come with 5speed models.

I too released that santro after market would cost less than the swift's one after getting this fixed.

Check out Nano's and Santro's may be it could be fixed.

Today went to the auto parts market with my mechanic friend. Took the compressor too for returning it. Exchanged the compressor (Rs. 650) for a set of wheel caps (Rs. 350) and a pair of fog lamps(Rs. 300).

Wheel caps were for my cars and the fog lamps were installed on a customer's car.

Installed the fog lights myself in a customer's car. He wanted to change his Tata Indigo's fog lamps which are fitted in the bumper.
Did the DIY in the same way Sethu Sir wants to install lights in his sparky. Was remembering him and wished I could go to Chennai to help Sethu sir in his DIY

Bought DLAA (PIAA's duplicate) but has good lighting power.

The light is fixed here with screws. Two holes were drilled in the new fog lamp's outer cover to fix the light in the clamp.

The original light has grommets attached in them to fix the screws.

Lights were fixed to the clamps using small nut-bolts and a little bit copper wire.

Finally the light fixed in the bumper.

Was unable to take more pics as it started raining and I had to go home.

Should I buy a new Santro or Nano alty or get an old one repaired. As Santro 70amp new alty costs Rs. 3800 only. If I source an old alty I may get it for Rs. 1000-1200. If I change its rectifier plate & brushes it would cost me Rs. 1200-1500. So refurbished alty may cost nead about Rs 2500.

WIll there be any performance difference between NEW and OLD alty ??

I too suggest you to go ahead with new Alternator, Buy a new M800 Alty pulley too. This option seems to be better than all other ones, as a new Alty wont give up atleast for 5 - 6yrs minimum.

My OEM Alty lasted for 18yrs! your Alty (if it was never changed) has also lasted 21yrs!

This expense is once in a lifetime (almost) so I suggest go ahead with new one.
Cross check with Varun if Santro Alty fits in the mount we have in M800.

All the best.
