Presently its just a ms-paint work.

I'll do something similar to the meter when I'll remove steering column for fitting the new lock. Is the multi colour meter looking good or should I go for single color BLUE or RED ??

I believe, From 60 to 100 in blue and then on in RED is good option. As RED and High speeds are always a sign of danger.

The multi colour meter looks really good. I guess you will use different colour LED to lit it from backside.
In my car the speedometer plate is metal (Aluminium) so backlighting idea doesn't work. Check yours if that is also metallic.

All type 1 speedo has metal plate. So there would be no backlit. But the color combination is too good. Hope to see it soon.

These days I am too busy. Driving driving and driving. . . As there is my friend's marriage and I am responsible for most of the shoppings.
Few a times the rear seat was folded and lots of things were kept in the back. I drove many rounds to the airport and station to fetch guests. Sometimes I also drove of my friend's Alto.

Few things I realized these days:
1. Maruti 800 is one of the best cars to drive in crowded markets.
2. My car shows signs of aging as I had to accelerate a bit hard when climbing one of the flyovers (fully loaded with 5 people and 3 luggage bags)
3. One should never buy cheap audio system. One of my door speaker stopped working after playing loud music.
4. The extra fog lights that I installed are useless (if headlight is switched off).
5. Loud horns are necessary.

Regarding the Speedo:
I'll try to source the paint used in glow sign boards (used for road signs) Red, blue and yellow is easily available but green colour is rare.
