If the oil is just 5 months old its not necessary, change it when its done a year. You might want to get the brake pads checked and the brake oil changed if it was not.Same goes for the gear oil as well.

How many Kms has your car done so far?

The meter currently reads 30155. But its not the correct reading. I think the car has crossed 1 lac kilometers. When I bought it the meter readed 75k +

None of the oils were replaced and I dont know when was the last service done by the previous owner. My mech says that all the oils are OK.

I think I should get the service done soon . .

There's a short official trip after Dussehra. I'll get the service done when I come back.

This is my servicing list. Please add your valuable suggestions. (My car is a 93 AC carb model) and most of the servicing will be done by me.

1. Engine oil change
Whats the process of engine oil flushing ?? What brand and which grade oil should I use. (My car has completed more than a lac kilometres)
2. Brake oil change
I don't have brake boosters so will stick to DOT 3 only. Any particular brake oil brand ?? Any precautions to be taken
3. Gear oil change
Which brand oil to use ??
4. Coolant change
5. Front brake pads checking and cleaning (replacing if required)
Which brand brake pads to use and what all things to check in the rear brake ??
6. Changing of wheel bearings
Suggestions needed for any particular brand, anything else to be changed with the bearings
7.Changing of spark plugs and wires
Any particular brand suggested.
8. Air filter changing
Which brand and type of air filter to use.
9. Fitting of windshield washer bottle and motor.
10. Tuning of carb and CB points
11. Changing of the wiring harness (depends on budget)

If I have missed any point please add it.

Hi Shantanu,
If you are not planning for any mods & if it is a simple service. Here is my suggestion

1. Engine oil change - Jarpickle & Varun have done this, lets wait for their replies
2. Brake oil change - DOT 3 will do.
3. Gear oil change - You can try using Differential Oil used in SUMO rear differentials (suggested by Jarpickle to me)
4. Coolant change - Green liquid thing, 1 : 1 ratio with water
5. Front brake pads checking and cleaning (replacing if required)
Which brand brake pads to use and what all things to check in the rear brake ??
Go for KBX brand brake pads, replace them if they are very old.
6. Changing of wheel bearings
Suggestions needed for any particular brand, anything else to be changed with the bearings - NO Idea
7.Changing of spark plugs and wires
Delphi brand spark plug cables & NGK spark plugs
8. Air filter changing - Purolator - normal one
9. Fitting of windshield washer bottle and motor - motor is almost 250Rs.
10. Tuning of carb and CB points - yet to try
11. Changing of the wiring harness (depends on budget) - 2585/- (Minda brand) Do it only if required, rather upgrade your alternator first. Your DIY lights & LEDs might need more power. Just a suggestion.

1. Engine oil change:Use 20w40 oil don't go for thinner oil.The flushing is done in various ways. The most efficient is to connect the car to a flushing pump that circulates the flushing liquid through the engine. The other way is to buy a bottle of flushing liquid like STP and use it as per the instructions.

2. Brake oil change
I don't have brake boosters so will stick to DOT 3 only. Any particular brake oil brand ?? TVS And Bosch KBX(also Bosch) Any precautions to be taken:Get the old liquid drained and while it is draining use the new liquid so the system is bled and there is no wastage of new oil.
3. Gear oil change:This depends on your gearbox. If it is worn out and all over the place when shifting and makes all sorts of noise go in for an overhaul. If it is bearable for thicker oil(HP140) save up cash and go for the overhaul. If everything is fine go for normal SAE90 oil.

4. Coolant change:Remove the radiator and get it flushed and add new coolant.

5. Front brake pads checking and cleaning (replacing if required)
Which brand brake pads to use and what all things to check in the rear brake ??
KBX(bosch)pads not sure of the rear liner makes but i think tvs girling makes them so does kbx.you might have to change the cylinder there too.

6. Changing of wheel bearings:Nachi/NSK or any other brand
Suggestions needed for any particular brand, anything else to be changed with the bearings
7. For plugs I have used ngk
11.Tuning of carb and CB points:Get the points changed if needed. For the carb you might have to replace the jets if worn.Use a carb cleaner spray for direct cleaning and fuel system cleaner for thorough cleaning of the entire fuel system.Try cyclo max 44 for fuel system.I use ABRO carb cleaner.

Why again driving lamps (its looking good).

Is that body graphics from AUTO GRAPHICS ? You could have bought some thing like what I have on my car, it would look good on white background.

I feel, I too know what's your next DIY [;)]
Are you sure the dynamo will be able to power so many things at a time?although I know that everything wont be switched on always, its about those rare situations. Your ideas are unique, I am sure a swift /zen/santro alternator will be the right choice to power your ideas.

Waiting for more pictures of work in progress in your car.

All the best.

I myself don't know why I am adding so much lights. I just saw them, liked them and bought for adding it to my car. My friends say that soon my car will turn into a decotora

Yes they are from autographics, these were my friend's choice.

Oh even I got to know those wild guesses ! It will be door warning lamps I think.

Yes sirs, they are for the door warning lights. Soon I'll re fabricate the door panels.

I am trying to source a Vikram CNG (passenger carrier) or Nano Alternator. I'll change the alty soon.

^^ For Vikram CNG Alternator there's a shop at Alambagh owned by sardaar by the name of Manchanda Auto parts. He stocks parts for other cars too.

Few updates:

Yesterday I went to the mechanic for servicing (replacing of all fluids and change of spark plugs). But he says that presently no oil change is required and the plugs are fine too. I asked him for an under body coating. He asked the helper to mix rubber-seal with any leftover paint and do the coating. I refused such quality of work. While returning home I bought Berger Primer. Today got up early in the morning to start the under body coating. I used a wire brush to clean off all dirt and rust before applying primer. Two coats of paint will be applied after the primer dries.

But before that I fixed the stickers.

Removed the side mouldings

More pics will be posted soon

CAN I COAT THE SILENCER CANS AND THE PIPES WITH PRIMER ??? The silencer is too rusty. And can the borders of the AC condensor be coated with primer ???
