I am planning 2 go with Honda assure, while slightly costly- offer peace of mind.

i have heard pple like icici, sbi life etc make u run from pillar to pillar 4 small claims + lots of documentation

how much quote u have recieved 4 ur insurance premium?
Honda assure is definiltely peace of mind. Agreed. I dont know of sbi but icici does it pretty smoothly. I would still prefer tata and bajaj over it but.

I got it free for an year from honda itself buddy.

Guys,

I had taken the baby out on a 1200 km drive over an extended weekend. It had been through 2 ghat section on our way to mangalore from bangalore (sakleshpur ghats) and agumbe ghats too. Started off with a brisk 200 km drive till hassan on the 4 lane expressway. reached there in 2 and a half hours time. Stopped at Sakleshpur for a heavy dose of snacks and tea, coffee. Then onto the ghats and the test of my driving skills started along with the test of my patience courtesy heavy vehicles (generally oil tankers on the ghats )[;)]

It was a beautiful weather to drive the baby in. waterfalls and foggy roads everywhere. defogger was really quick and fast and very very handy indeed. The roads in the sakhleshpur ghats were crap. I could hardly see good roads anywhere. It wasnt humps on roads. It was more like Road in Humps. I felt like I was Off-roading. Took a good 2 hours to cover 50 kms. Felt the hard suspension in the brio baby at the rear. Never went to 4th gear on the crater-full roads. The state volvo buses were driving like they had to visit the toilets.

Finally reached Udupi and mangalore. Was searching for shell but in vain. Filled it up at HP and off to sringeri and hornadu via aanegudde (ganesh temple on ganesh chaturthi). Had to take aagumbe ghats to reach sringeri. On the way up the road was same as the sakleshpur ghats but very narrow road with steep inclined pin turns. I stopped the vehicle on one of the inclines with humps to check if Brio doesnt move on such surfaces (as many of them had complained here). Revvd it,clutch, 1st gear and vroooom it was up and going without a jerk of reverse. There were people working on the roads to cover the humps. reached the temple, done with the darshan and god had her grace on us. The road down was a breeze with the most beautiful of roads in the ghat section.

We then went to dharmastala and kukke subramanya and returned back home. Again via Sakhleshpur ghats. You really need to have safari stormes or tata sumos here. Again the same test of patience. Reached hassan and then again a breeze till bangalore.

Pros:
-Brio is a beast on highways. Feels planted and steady. Full of confidence
-Brio handles the humps pretty well if you have the patience to slow down from the beast mode to 1st and 2nd gears. Never scratched the underbody to road anywhere throughout the trip.
-You can feel the power of i-vtec on the steep hairpin inclined bends.
-Elders never complained of tiring in the rear seat.
-Great handler and fun to drive on sharp turns. almost 0 body roll
Cons:
-Stiff suspension.
-Very poor mileage on ghats ~9kmpl
-cabin noise at high speeds

regarding cabin noise, i also get it but that mainly because of crappy MRF ZTVT tyres and also may be absence of underbody coating.

i dont think its an issue with ur suspension, as H!! suspension is hard. I am planning to chnage tyres soon hopefully to yoko or continentals

thoughts?

cabin noise is only at speeds greater than say 100kmph. Else its good. Yep. Suspension in Honda cars are a bit hard.
Yokos are good tyres to have. Try michelins too. They are made of soft rubber and hence may not get a big life but surely worth. Gives good comfort inside. i would rather make a choice between yoko A drive and the michelin. [:)]

i have got quite a few thar spots on the car now. Any idea how do I remove them ? (except rubbing them with diesel) ??[roll]

I meant the road thar buddy. They are used when laying new roads. When you drive on them they are splattered over bumpers and lower parts of the doors. They are common once you go on ghat roads that carry heavy oil tankers. Any leaks from the tank will mix with rain water. They form thar too. Any idea on how to remove them? They are just refusing to leave.
These are not on my car. but just for your convenience.these are thar spots

The "circular after wash marks" (not sure what you call them) on the bonnet. How do we take them out too? Polish and waxing will help ?
pk google tells circular marks are called swirl marks.

Waxing will help reduce this marks , In market you get tar and adhesive remover for car which are pretty good try it .

In Your second video in rains , Did you keep car in fresh air mode at that time ? it looks little foggy

Thanks, Ajay. I suppose in Bangalore you're blessed with good weather so more effective airconditioning and much as chaotic as a city, Gurgaon offers some benefits like a lower road tax. I'll push for corner bumper guards. I'm thinking that I can't be too lucky and would have to buy:

. a tailgate spoiler
. rear cargo protector
. side door protector

Do you advise the above 3 or recommend any other essentials?

I'm also looking for views on the efficacy of a teflon coating and should start with you :)

Many thanks for these inputs.
I have not installed any of above mentioned add on . tailgate spoiler is not required, side door protector may in bigger cities , but in goa we dnot have side by side parking mostly it is parallel , rear cargo protector is good but i never use decky so never bothered .
