Yeah.. I am from Trivandrum where we got quite a few places to trek and has done lots. The alto (which lacked power, the main reason I sold it out) didn't troubled me in any of them. But with brio I had a very hard time driving through hills. Except that it was good. Great FE I got in good roads. Even touched 21.5 on highway in one occasion. Superb handling. Fair gear shifts. Very good OEM music system, air conditioner, etc.
Oh then I guess its one of those rear issues with this car. I had recently gone to Nandi hills and chamundi hills (mysore). Had no problems what so ever. Nandi hill has got an extremely steep plane. Brio went through it quite easily at high revv (it was loaded with 4 on board and half filled boot).

May be you had your AC on in full swing. ??? !!!!! Please get it checked before its too late by some honda guy.

May be you could get better responses if you post your query here. Quite a few brio owners in there :

Hi,
Since you want a car for city use mainly and an occasional highway trip, then petrol is the way to go in my opinion. If you go for a diesel mill then it would be hard for you to recover your extra budget spent on its purchase.

As far as price hike of petrol goes, it is 77.2 here in bangalore. Can expect it to come down as the value of the rupee increases in the share market.

Hope this helped you to an extent in your decision making. make a good choice friend.

All i meant was looking at your ride (in city mostly), petrol should suit you better than the diesel. Petrol prices will be fluctuating (up and down) but the diesel are only going up every month by 50p and will continue and proposed by the govt.

The choice is upto you friend. Follow your heart. TD both the motors and proceed in such a way that you don't regret your choice later [;)]

My personal opinion is if you are going to buy a petrol, then it should be a honda. [:)]

Agree with Ajay. If alteast you have to ride 1500-2000kms /month, then diesel is the way to go else petrol.

Advantages of petrol/Brio

1. The looks.. you don't like the looks of figo. so go for one which you really love. a thing of beauty is joy forever.
2. Even if you decide not to go for biro, go for any other petrol version. That will save you some bucks. Petrol cars are priced much lower than their diesel versions.
3. Go for diesel only in case you have plans for long distance driving on regular basis.

Got the first service of a month done. The brio is now smiling even brighter. Got the Under body anti-rust coating done too for 2k. The gearbox now feels good as I had reported a complaint saying that it was tough to change gears. They have polished the interiors and dashboard and vacumed the seats too along with the regular exterior car wash. I must say, I felt I got the car brand new.[:)]

MID figure improves after driving car on longer drives , i am getting 17kmpl in mixed road conditions . in city around 15kmpl , in Rains i am not using Ac , but earlier i was using AC and i got around 15kmpl ..

Even my Brio sometimes becomes powerless on steep elevation , it happens mostly in first gear when car has stopped moving , i do hard revving but car doesn't move , i had to put car back in neutral and again put it back in first and then push accelature few times before car started moving at slow pace , this is my first car so not much driving experience but since vijeshv is also facing similar problem i am asking my more experienced friend to take it for spin particularly in steep elevation to check if same problems occur again , if it does then i am calling ASS , i could like Vijesjv to provide feedback on this too.

I am not having that problem as such yet dude. I have been to pretty steep inclined areas 3-4 times, but the problem doesn't seem to be as serious as you are predicting it to be (in my case). It's pushing well on the 1st and 2nd gear on the inclines. In fact I was surprised that response Vijesjv had. Its a super responsive engine. its only that you need to revv hard in such situations on low gears. I had been to 1st gear only on the steep inclined pin curves. Else it does well in the 2nd gear itself. And yeah, do inform A.S.S on that issue. they should help you out with it.

I am not a Experience Driver , in first few months i ignored it thinking it is happening due to lack of my experience , but since a Vijesjv who has been driving for few years now is also claiming same problem , i am forced to get an expert driver help to identify the problem , if he too faces same problem then i am reporting it to Honda Ass

I opted for High trim version VX MT which comes with all the safety features and choosen white colour [:D]
Congrats Bro , whts on road price any deals you got from Honda ?

Folks looking for a small diesel manual transmission car, do take a close look at Nissan Micra diesel. My friend owns one and has been driving for almost a year. He's been beating it to death and asserts that it's one of the best cars he's driven with respect to hammering day in/out.

I take his opinion seriously because he's a travel agent and has lots of cars, SUVs and MUVs in his stable. And he drives a lot across city all day.

I think the Micra has the proven Renault diesel engine.
