Great to know that you are happy with DRL and the cruise control. Apart from saving fuel, I feel that the acceleration too is better when done with the cruise buttons.
Waiting for the pictures.

AG..Pardon me for a very silly question. I noticed, thanks to the service guy during my second service something very worrying. Rat footprints in the dust covered innards under bonnet. I have kept all food outside the car. Have kept the car spotlessly clean. Have cleaned the interiors myself on many occasions. How does one keep rats out? Have you ever encountered this problem?

Rat problem, if not attended, can compound in a very short duration. I just hope that no damage has been done yet. In my case, a rat entered the air conditioner fan blower of the Pajero Sfx and this hiding sport turned fatal for the rat and messed-up the interior smell for weeks. After getting the blower cleaned thoroughly, I placed small portions of rat kill cake in different locations in the interior and then after a couple of days added some more portions in bonnet, underbody and the parking space. The gap of 2 days made sure that the interior was disinfected from rats first and then the attention was focused on exterior and parking space.Disinfecting the parking space ensured the root cause was attacked.

A detailed information on the rat issue and action plan can be found here. Also, please refer to this TAI thread which addresses this serious issue of rats.

I am sharing a small update which happened after 4th service before sharing the actual service experience.

Since the last service, I felt that the ride and handling were not as taut as they were previously and the centralization of the steering was also out. Got it re-inspected for the same and during the test drive, the service head found the steering effort required for turning to be quite higher.

For the first issue, alignment was done again and some adjustments were made. Also, one of the bush of the rear suspension link kit was worn out and the link kit was replaced.

For the second, they did the Power Steering system air bleeding. It was hardly a 10 minutes job and the results are simply amazing. As soon as the procedure started, a pocket of air gushed out expelling some oil with it followed by air bubbles which decreased to zero during the procedure. Due to this, they did the bleeding again to make sure no air was left in the system before replenishing the oil.

Overall, I am happy that the handling is back to normal and the steering effort has reduced drastically all thanks to the inputs of the Service Head.

This is very strange. Pajero suspension bushes are known to easily last for at least 100,000km before requiring replacement, even under moderate usage in rough roads.

I am surprised the link bushes wore out so quickly, even with a knowledgeable owner like you. Any photos of the worn out bushes?

Unfortunately no pictures of the bush and for the first time, I forgot to take back the damaged part. The rubber bush at the bottom had developed quite a large crack from the outer periphery.

This bush was already on my radar as since the very start, the bushes of both sides were eccentric to a side. The same is the case some of the new Pajero Sport I have seen during my visits. This eccentricity of the bush would would subject it to extreme loads on one side during driving thereby damaging it. While the Rear Left link kit was reset during one of the service as the eccentricity of the bushes was more, the Rear Right one was left as it is which probably led to the damage [frustration]. The bush could have been reset to it's correct position in the link kit but there was no point in doing it in a cracked bush.

An Old picture for reference of Lower part of Rear Left Link Kit showing eccentricity of bush before correction

Here they are, finally. Pictures of the area from where the wiring was cut, the clock that was installed along with a short video of their functioning
The clock looks super cool. Does it have an option to decrease the brightness during the night?

Great Video of the switchback action of the DRL. Could you please share the colour code of the wire on which you have connected the DRL wire?

In the picture, the load resistor seems to be quite near to the wiring harness. I would suggest moving it away from wires as it gets quite hot if the indicators are used for a long time (say when using the hazard warning for 5 minutes) which could damage the wires in the harness.

Nope but I know why you asked. The glare looks too bright in the cropped photo but it is actually not at all distracting in real world conditions. In fact, it is far lesser than the light emitted by the head unit if I keep it on at night, even in night mode. It has a battery charge indicator, date and a temperature gauge but I dont think I will ever end up using them. All I needed was a clock and I am happy with this.

Blue and red line.

This was one of my concerns as well which is why I checked the temperature of the load resistor every 3 hours during my recent trip. However, there was zero temperature change. I will still move it away using double side tape and stick it to a metal panel inside the bonnet.

Man oh man, I have been missing out on all the fun on this thread.

First of all, AG, welcome to the forum. I am a fellow Pajero Sport owner. I have been chatting a lot with Chetak about various mods that you have already carried out. I right now have the K&N filter installed, and with Chetak's help, will be getting some other things done as well!

Will be totally tuned into this thread from now on :)

Glad to know that the mods I have done are of interest to you. Let me know incase I can be of any help with any of the mods.
What is your experience/views on dash cam usage.
I have been using the SJ4000 for an year now and it certainly captures some great moments apart form helping with the law. Recent example was proving an allegation (probably because of outstation number) for red light jumping as false.
Can't comments on this product but generally speaking, to use all the the features of capacitor based dashcam like motion detection, you will need to connect it permanently to the battery wire and not the power after ignition. With a battery based dashcam, there is no such issue and in case of a motion detection, it can turn-on & off on it's own power.

Chetak is back from a short trip (Bangalore-Pondicherry-Bangalore). Had 4 occupants in the car including the driver. The route taken was Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Vellore-Arcot-Vandavasi-Tindivanam-Pondicherry.

Distance covered- 815km.
Fuel efficiency- 10.7kmpl. Pondicherry is a hot place and the ac was working overtime with a few long idles as well. I feel it could have been better if I had used Sys-D. I am yet to measure the FE in the second tank of fuel.
Issues- None other than an irritating rattle from the driver door, the centre console (I am tired of this one) and the rear brake pads needing replacement. Will visit the ASC sometime this week.

Speed- Bangalore-Arcot is a nice 6/4 lane highway and was hence able to maintain 100-115kmph almost consistently. Arcot-Pondicherry is 2 lane road with local traffic and a few bad patches and diversions and speeds there were 70-80kmph.
Places visited- French town, Auroville, Paradise Beach & Auroville beach.

Great FE figures. Was it with the K&N or without? I suppose this was the first trip after cruise control installation - please share your experience on the same.

It seems that the center console rattle would take a miracle to make it go away.

Without the K&N. I removed the K&N on the trip to Cochin as well. It definitely decreased my FE by at least a km.

This was my second trip after the CC installation. The Cochin-Munnar trip was the first.

Here is that post.

Route: Bangalore-Cochin-Munnar-Cochin-Bangalore.

Cruise Control is indeed a boon on highways, especially the four laned kind during night and during long drives. It is easy to use, works great and I feel, saves some fuel since its throttle inputs are very precise and hence ensure greater efficiency.

Stock/OE air filter is back on Chetak and I have no complaints.
