What's the problem with spraying

If you spray at one particular spot, centre of the spot matches the finish and outer will be coarse, under light it appears like round patches, so normally they paint full part even in case of small damage, to avoid losing value and original factory paint people will adapt their own methods.

Or paint a black stripe below fog lamps for entire length so that it will hide scratches
