How do you protect your car from Rats, Mice and Rodents.

I tried Naphthalene balls, Raw tobacco, Diesel nothing worked then I tried chilli powder, it worked like charm no Rats.

Thanks for the alternative - Chilli Powder! [evil]

In Gurgaon, this rat menace is not there and cars are safe. Back at home, these rats have destroyed the Etios' foglamp wiring. We keep rat traps under the car at night and catch a rat or two every week. I am not very familier with food items, this is red chilli powder right?

@ice_wise, it is normal regular red chilli powder, very cheap and works until your next car wash. I wash my car once in a month so I will sprinkle this red chilli powder once in a month. I found no re application required between washes.

Did you purchase this service manual?

And thanks once again for the red chilli idea. I had sprinkled in our Etios on 24th Dec evening and no rat was caught in 3 days. One problem was that it gets blown away while driving. As there was no rat poop found, so I think they are gone! [:)]

Yes I have purchased total of four manuals for Swift and Dzire, first part No 1 contains VOL 1 and VOL 2 which covers petrol and diesel. Other service manuals are supplementary manuals, after upgrading some parts they release supplementary manuals. Great information with detailed step by step procedures with pictures. I have ordered Baleno service manual too. In my case red chilli powder is not blown off even at high speeds. Try coarse chilli poweder like brand Ashirvad.

Service manual covers entire car like engine rebuilding, ECM, wiring, suspension, brakes AC, ABS, air bags, etc etc.

My experience with so called underbody coatings

Usually underbody coatings are thick weigh more than normal paint. They are coarse too. Their thermal elongation and contraction properties differ with normal automotive paint. It has been observed that over the time they become dry and brittle, forms microscopic cracks, when they crack or fade away they also takes original paint microscopically. Because of above mentioned physical and chemical properties differences, rust is formed under the coating where the crack happened or where the original paint lost, and this cannot be seen with naked eye until significant rust formation. This appears like small bubbles under the black coloured under chassis paint.

There are two types of under chassis coatings available today. 1. Bitumen(asphalt and petroleum based). This type will not dry off so easily but they are not resistant to diesel wash and other road chemicals, their thermal properties same as above mentioned. They fade away and take the base paint which is less weight than this and micro mm thickness and do the above mentioned harm. 2. This type is asphalt free and diesel wash resistant, like 3M under chassis coatings, but over the time it become very brittle and do the more harm.

I used spray under chassis with 20% diesel with 80% new engine oil using spray gun. I did not see any rust past 17 years in my old cars. With this method you can actually see what is happening in car under chassis over the time and will not blind you until some damaged occurred like in the case of under chassis coating. I am following all of my family cars the same procedure.

That's good info. Thanks for letting us all know.

So when we re-apply antirust coating, say after 3 or 5 years, this rust formation would still be there as the new coat will be applied over the existing damaging coat. Right?

In that case you need to check carefully the areas like sheet metal endings, two sheet metal joints and near spot welding, if any rust found scrap the rust and repaint it and apply under chassis coating again.

Hi Suryaputhra,
I have been ended up in booking ''Swift dzire Zxi sangria red color" in one of the dealer in Bangalore on year end offer (i.e, December 2015). I infact wanted to buy Swfit dzire Magma grey but as there was no stock in almost all dealers I had to go for Sangria red and it was only one left out from this dealer as some one cancelled the booking at last moment. I went for booking after looking at the same color car in the stock yard, I was Ok but not so convinced compared to magma grey. May be the reason could be whatever car I saw in the stock yard was very dirty and not very appealing. The dealer told me that this is one of the premium color which maruti introduced in Dzire and demand is more. But I have never noticed a Dzire car on sangria red in road till now. Hence I am bit confused between going for sangria red which I had booked or to go for 2016 make magma grey (but it'll not hold any offer which they provided now and price may be increased as per Maruti Suzuki announcement).
I have come across your review about the same car and it's really impressive and couple of people commented saying the dzire looks great in sangria red. What is your advice on going for this color? Any specific reason for you to choose this color when you bought this car? Kindly reply.

Regards,
Theiveegam

Congrats on your new Dzire, it is a very practical car, family car which gives excellent back seat comfort. one of the car enthusiastic who has observed dzire closely highly recommended the dzire and written comment on this car even though he is not the owner of the car below is the link and the comment is by “TheArun”.

Maruti Dzire : Test Drive & Review - Page 37 - Team-BHP

His comment is one of the reasons to buy dzire myself.

Coming to the point why I have selected Sangaria red

1. Relatively new colour in dzire, other manufacturers has similar shades but this sangaria red is attractive.
2. Inside beige and black interiors plus outside sangaria red color suit well and stands out. Both interior and exterior suits well.
3. Dzie looks bigger in sangaria red than any other colour, stands out a lot on the road.
4. Front chorme work looks appealing in this colour.
5. Silver colour alloy wheels look elegant in this colour.

Even magma grey is also excellent colour, decide according to your wish.

I will be adding many technical matters to this thread in two days.

Thank you very much for your reply. I luckily saw a sangria red dzire on road today. It was so beautiful and attractive. I could not take out my eyes till it vanished out of my visibility.
Decided to stick to my current booking.

Thank you so much, I have got all four service manuals and parts catalogue if you need any technical advice, service related let me know I can guide you from the service manual. I am writing short info on wheel alignment in two days. Regarding suzuki sports decal I have put the decal other side too, that is also upside down to look something different. Today I have driven the car at 150+ kmph, car is rock solid and engine is very smooth. This defines the car.

Mr. Suryaputhra I must say that you have provided excellent review of an excellent car. There is a reason why this car sells so much. Any current updates on [1] Odometer [2] Fuel efficiency [3] your satisfaction level with this car?
