The Ciaz was better-off without the yucky sticker-job and the after-thought after-market like DRLs. It was a simple elegant looking sedan and doing such mods looks so after-market and actually makes it look cheap IMO.
True..

Maruti seems to have some 'funny' guys who are responsible for the special edition. As you rightly pointed, Ciaz mods look yuck and very much like cheap local / after market mod. But this looks much better that their attempt on Swift some time back with white & blue combo. Another wacky mod which Maruti attempted was on Zen, which was called Zen Classic. The only mod which I loved in Maruti stable was their 2-door Zen variants - Karbon and Steel which looked awesome. But unfortunately, there weren't too many takers I believe.

Second funny strategy they have is on doing these mods on their 'V' models. For example Ertiga Feliz was available in Vxi and Vdi only I believe (correct me if I am wrong).. Unable to understand rationale for this as well.

Right, but the hideous design crown should go to windsong edition of Swift any day [;)]

Maruti is working on the engines that you have referred on all their next new releases for existing products as 'Upgrades' in 2016. You will hear shortly ..[:)]
Let's hope so! Even though 1.5/1.6 is speculated to come with SX4-Cross (or Across, whatever they name), I will not believe until it is officially launched. Test mules spotted so far looked more of a export model than Indian one. Anyway time will tell!

Maybe I am too optimistic, but with 1500+ engines (and Maruti has imported on May 1st too ) 1.6 MJD's it is convincing enough the ACross will come in the variant for the indian market[:D]

Maybe I am too pessimistic. But how did we infer that the 1500+ engines were imported by Maruti or Suzuki??? If we go by the information in Zauba, we can clearly see that the 1600cc engines were imported from Italy - so it could be Fiat made. However, I do not see any indication on the company who imported this. I know, the next question is if not Maruti, then who. I dont know the answer - but could be anyone - Tata or even FIat themselves. Cant it be??? [lol][evil]

That's exactly where I'm worried! MSIL imported 1500 units (started in Dec 2014, and recently on 28th April-400 units) in last few months. These units comes with huge import duty & are bigger and so would cost a hell for Maruti. Even if they deploy this in ACross, the said car would be insanely costly per MSIL standard. They have to cut the rivals (Duster/ES) by huge margin for Across to be successful, and it looks difficult with imported 1.6's.

Base Suzuki Ciaz with steel wheels, basic interior spied – Thailand

As Suzuki is gearing up to introduce the Ciaz in the Thai market later this year, spyshots of a cut-price entry-level variant with steel wheels and a basic interior.

Likely to be positioned as the base variant, the Ciaz in these images gets black wing mirror caps and door handles, and misses out on wheel covers and foglights. Inside, the dashboard is pretty basic as it is devoid of features like a music system, automatic climate control and even the steering wheel misses out on integrated controls (as a music system is not offered in the first place). However, dual airbags seem to be on offer.

The Ciaz will comply with Thailand’s EcoCar rules, one of which mandate a fuel efficiency of 20 km/l or higher. As a result, where the Indian Ciaz is powered by a 1.4-liter K-Series engine, the Thai model will get a 1.25-liter engine paired to 5-speed manual and CVT gearboxes. The engine and the gearbox are shared with the Thai Swift.

Production of the Ciaz is slated to start at Suzuki’s plant in Rayong, Thailand, from the beginning of June this year. The same plant is responsible for making the Swift and Celerio models too.

Yes it is 4-speed torque converter, usual 3 speed + overdrive with standard PRND2L configuration, good enough for city driving.

Correct me if I am wrong but AFAIK:
CVT : City, Sunny, Scala
4-speed: Ciaz, Verna
7-speed DSG: Vento, Rapid(??)

I don't think they'd put AMT in C2 segment cars!

@engine The manual says nothing about hill lock so I'd not say that Ciaz has it. I have tried this on my neighborhood slope, the car did not roll back from stationary position on releasing the foot-brake in D mode, at least not for about 1-2 sec (tried only that much), which should be good enough for shifting to gas pedal. But I won't say that that it has hill lock or it does not roll back as I could not find any such mention in manual or in any review or document. The technician advised me to use hand-brake on flyovers.

The Maruti Ciaz website has one picture of auto-transmission: CIAZ - Features, Specs, Review, Picture Gallery, Mileage and Price >>> transmission
hi Raag, whats the top speed that you have achieved with your Zxi AT?
Whats the engine rev like? Performance? noise levels? etc.

Hello amore012, welcome to TheAutomotiveIndia.com

Congrats for your booking of Ciaz.

Except the chrome door handles, I felt other accessories are priced good enough, there is definitely need to try for discounts.

Also, I am being charged 7055/- as handling charges in Navi Mumbai, by the showroom, what is this for?[confused]
Handling charges basically includes Logistics, parking fees in the factory and dealer premises,Washing,Polishes PDI etc.,

Re: My Pearl Snow White: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz VXi+ Ownership Review

Thanks Vishwas, I ll try to negotiate for discount on accessories...

One query, I have booked my Car on July 31, which was already in Dealer stockyard,
All the payment from my side is done, now only registration is pending.

But,I read in the news yesterday and checked on Ciaz website also, that Vxi+ price is gone up by approx Rs 7000/-, will this impact me? Will I have to pay more now?

Please respond,Haven't slept all night :(

Usually dealers charge you as soon as update is received for price revision and it's very less case they retire from it, however, you could try waiving that off by negotiating or try with other dealers too.

Buddies,

The Diesel CIAZ (Non-Hybrid) has been discontinued now but dealers facing issues to clear the present stock it seems. At my uncle's dealership, I saw this Maroon Color Diesel Ciaz all decorated with chrome and some other accessories. Moreover, it also seems that dealers are trying to clear some accumulated accessories stock too.

Hi,

I am planning to buy CIAZ. Here I have 2 Offers. One is Ciaz ZDI(O) ...2014 model and manufacture but not used one. When I check with the Show room guyz they offeed me this with 11.15 lakhs.

second one is VDi+ shvs model which comes with 2 airbags in built :) .. which costs around 1074000 - 13k(subsidy). Please suggest me which one better bet with proper reason.

I feel ZDi(O) better one but with the difference of 60k we can afford all the required accessories in VDI+cant we? Could you please update me ASAP as I need to decide in 2 days.

Thanks,
DInesh

Hi Dinesh, I would say SHVS option should be a better choice because it shall provide you with comfort of alternate power and more fuel efficiency than regular Diesel CIAZ.
