Thanks a lot Bharath. I don't know about Honda Mobilio much but surely the rear light cluster resembles to 2014 Honda City. Much before the launch when uncovered pics of Ciaz were posted, since then this view has been expressed ample number of times.

The bonnet feels not too light nor heavy and the doors feel light but the strength of the body is impressive, I have personally seen the car. For such a light car, the strength of the body is promising. I would say, it's better than city. AC is really effective and the DDIS engine is super silent. I loved the smooth grunt of the Diesel engine. Engine revs like a petrol, the rpm needle is very eager when pressed on the accelerator. Doesn't feel underpowered at all. Happy to drive in the city traffic. Did a test drive in bumper to bumper traffic and the MID is showing 13.4 kmpl. I bet this car would beat the Honda city in sales.

Maruti aims to sell 60-70k of Ciaz's annually. Gets 10000+ pre launch bookings, of which 60 per cent are for diesel cars and 40 per cent for petrol vehicles.
About nine per cent of the sales would be from Kerala, where the vehicle was launched yesterday.

The petrol variant is priced between Rs 7.40 lakh (ex- Cochin showroom) and Rs 9.03 lakh, the diesel version starts from Rs 8.47 lakh to Rs 10.26 lakh.

Hi Friends, How do I make sure that I don't get a display or test-drive Maruti Ciaz. I have pre-booked long ago.

It is simple, in the test drive vehicle you simply note/click the VIN and then when you get your car cross check the VIN of it with that of the demo/test car.

Couple of more things to be sure that your's is not a test car but a factory finished car:

1) In a test car the Tyre shows sign of lot of usage since every dealer has just one test car per model.

2) The paint of the test car eventually begins to get stained and dirty due to usage by customers.

3) The interiors are not that clean.

4) The gear knob and foot pedals show signs of usage.

5) Also, try a test, rub some thinner on any panel to check whether the panel is originally painted or repainted. If the paint comes off then its a repainted car.

6) The test/demo car begins to rattle due to diverse usage and driving pattern.

Hope this helps your cause buddy!

These are the steps you need yo follow,
1. Check Underneath the car, if its clean its a new car otherwise TD car.
2. Check Interiors, if they have plastic covers in tact, its a new car.
3. If plastic covers aren't there, make sure to check Cabin thoroughly. If any dirt is found somewhere in cabin, its a TD or a Display Car.
4. Check for clean smooth finish on body paint, if there are any swirl marks, minor scratches, then its a TD car

At the current release, Z(O) variant is where things get interesting and luxurious. Exterior looks are enhanced by an added use of chrome, and 16-inch alloys look nice too. Inside the cabin, there's a good use of leather: the steering wheel is now leather-wrapped and so are the seats.

Maruti plans to add a Z+ variant to the line up early next year. Over the current seat of features available on Z(O) trim, the new SmartPlay touchscreen entertainment system will be available as standard on the Z+. The mentioned system comes with a voice recognition, and smartphone integration.

That's a bold statement! It's really difficult to dethrone the mighty Honda City, as Honda badge is looked as more premium than Maruti. Also young buyers may still prefer City due to more sportier design than the safe (but beautiful) Ciaz design.

But if you ask me to choose personally, yes I will choose Ciaz because I get almost everything that City has, plus the attractive alloys and projector lamps. Also in India (at least) Maruti commands more value in aftermarket (once you decide to sell) than other brands due to obvious reasons. Secondly, I save a good 1 lakh with Ciaz which I can use to tune (ECU remap/tuning Box) the engine as per my choice (costs max 25k), and to add other accessories in future. This DDIS is upgrade friendly as we have seen already and this increases power to anywhere between 120 to 130 BHP which is more than sufficient I believe [;)]

BTW, the ICE HU in V + and Z (O) is looking more premium than that 7' touch screen. Am I the only one to think so?

Thanks guys for a lot of checks. I think the VIN and tire check are must and fool-proof checks because I am told by dealer that they extra clean display cars and wash them thoroughly. He also told that they never sell TD/Demo car to customers but you never know! Also one can spend some time and very carefully check for scrach-marks and plastic cover remains.

PS: I have booked a ZXi(AT), I am kind of hoping that an AT would not be in display and hopefully will not be a TD car so soon.[;)]

Yes, it is a bold statement. I have seen the car in person and the booking numbers speak. I may be wrong too. Honda city is a great car. And I have no grudge towards it. If I compare ciaz and city, I like ciaz more. I am planning to buy a car for my wife. So if I have to choose in between Honda brio and celerio, I will go with Honda. So public will decide now.

Once we actually saw Ciaz at dealer launch, I honestly felt that it is much more premium looking car compare to any competition. Not to say that it was huge (almost D segment), spacious and has big doors like European cars. The plastic was much better and design was very thoughtful. Look at rear air-con, they have provided a place to keep the phone while charging. I felt there is no such thing as "a badge more premium", it has to be product which is more premium not the badge. If a premium badge is not providing a premium car would we still consider it?

I am also bit confused about which looks better ICE HU in ZXi or future 7" touchscreen.[confused]. Should one upgrade to one of many D-Din HUs available in market. IMO touchscreen will have advantage in maps/navigation but ZXi HU looks better.
