Even though verna prices are officially more, almost all dealers offering more than 50-60k discount on every variants.
With give or take 15k ,we can get Verna SX 1.6 (after Discounts) at the same price of ZDi.
I am pretty sure Maruti will not offer any discount on Diesel.
Maruti may be thinking 1.3 DDiS is beast.

With these prices, and with low spec engines, maruti will not eat up any city or verna customer

After price announcement ,Honda and Hyundai feel sigh of relief, coz Ciaz is no way cannabalize sales of their sedans. Its not a killer pricing, I myself rethinking to spend an extra lakh to get good looking Car with premium brand rather than getting Zdi+ for 11.3 Lakh OTR, at the same price I may settle for SV Diesel which is more VFM interms of Engine,Cabin etc
Ciaz Zdi+ scores only on Touch ICE,and Keyless entry..in every aspect City hails
I booked Ciaz, need to give strong rethinking

More than picing, see the car physically, take a TD and make your judgement. Otherwise it is all speculation.
Yeah..I was promised to have a test drive as soon as Dealer gets the vehicle.
Anyway bit disappointing with higher price for Engine wise (1248cc DDiS)

11.3 lakh for same Ritz/Swift engine fine tuned..OMG

People like me we keep the car for atleast 5 yrs or even more from now,Even for top end variant pricing is 50k higher (i am taking interms of OTR Prices). Eventually it boils down to engine. ICE and alloys we can fit after market,
Keyless start is only saving grace... I might get night mares tonight that I had to live with 1.3 DDiS engine for next 5 yrs

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz ZDi: 1st Look.

Disclaimer: This is not a official review.

Friends, The new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has been launched today. The main competitors to it are the All New 2014 Honda City, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea.

I have checked out the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Zdi (White) with manual transmission and it appears to be a delight for the C Segment car buyers in India. It has a host of features that make it stand out from the rest. Here is a small personal review on the same.

photo1963.jpg

The front profile has a impressive character to it. Since it has been an upgrade for SX4 hence the car has been improvised upon in every respect.

Photo1954.jpg

photo1955.jpg

The tested ZDi variant boasts of some user-friendly and good features like:

1) Projector head lamps

photo1964.jpg

The projector headlamps have a good light throw and clarity.

2) Engine Choice

a) 1.3 L DDis

b) 1.4 L Petrol

3) Multi Information Display

The MID unit of Ciaz is well designed and well lit for the readability. The White Light gives it a premium feel.

photo1980.jpg

4) Climate Control AC.

The climate control unit has been provided in ZDi variant and is really effective. Cools the cabin evenly. There are rear vents provided too. The Display unit is really effective too with AC knobs having chrome rings around them for elegance.

photo1960.jpg

The AC uses only R134a refrigerant.

photo2024.jpg

The in-built entertainment system with Blutooth connectivity. The display is good and the sound quality is good and this variant comes with steering mounted audio controls and Blutooth connectivity . The FM transmission is clear too.

photo1961.jpg

photo1999.jpg

photo1990.jpg

photo1981.jpg

The fit and finishing of the interiors is really neat and good. The plastic quality has improved a lot and the interiors provide a premium feel to the passengers.

photo1978.jpg

photo1977.jpg

photo2003.jpg

photo2002.jpg

The Zdi variant comes with a push button start which is a bit new feature for people like me who never have used it earlier.

photo1988.jpg

The Ground Clearance is also pretty decent and this shall also give a pleasant ride to the drivers and passengers without rubbing on the speed-breakers.

Killer pricing by MSIL as expected!

Now the only issue is with brand image of Maruti which is considered as less premium than other competitors in this segment. Let's se if Ciaz breaks this perception.

Guys, don't write off Ciaz engine by looking at power (read BHP) on paper. What actually matters is how the power is delivered which depends upon many factors (e.g: weight of the car). Reviews confirmed that Ciaz can do 0-100 in some 11+ seconds (DDIS engine) which is far better than competition, so better take a TD and decide yourself [:)]

As reported in the eralier post, if you are really concerned about the engine, Maruti is speculated to give the Ciaz the 1.5 diesel that Suzuki is testing now in later part of 2015.
The current launch is for Maruti to enter and establish in the A3+ segment, after which the higher speced varaint will debut . reponses of 10000 + bookings of Ciaz is more so establish their footing ( loyal customers looking to upgrade)in this segment and it is for them to deliver now.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ciaz ZDi: 1st Look.

The boot space is quite good and can easily accommodate big luggage bags and suitcase. The boot has been given a well-lit space and comes with an organized tool kit.

photo2008.jpg

photo2011.jpg

photo2009.jpg

The rear legroom of the car is good and I being a 6ft tall person could easily egress and ingress from the car and the rear seating did not appear to be cramped.

photo1962.jpg

The Zdi variant has been provided with Good Year Wheels and well finished alloys.

photo2016.jpg

The fog lamps are given as standard feature in the Ciaz Zdi Variant. They have good throw and improve the visibility too. The plastic used in the fog lamp casing is also of good quality with good finishing.

photo1965.jpg

photo2015.jpg

The ORVM has inbuilt side markers.

photo1967.jpg

The Chrome front grill and the door handle add to the beauty of the Ciaz. The design and finish is top notch.

photo1971.jpg

photo1972.jpg

The IRVM is motorized in Ciaz Zdi

photo1991.jpg

The headlamp leveling and rear heater switch are also accessible from driver's seat.

photo1984.jpg

Internal cabin lighting is also a plus point in this variant. The doors have 2 independent lamps apart from a dual overhead reading lamp in front.

photo1959.jpg

photo1992.jpg

The steering wheel is light and well finished with Suzuki emblem in between as usual. The decent gear knob complements it too nicely.

photo1989.jpg

photo2005.jpg

The hand-brake is easily accessible too.

photo2006.jpg

Some small but important fitments make the Ciaz all the more elegant.

1) Foot-well lights

photo1974.jpg

2) The carpeting inside the hood further reduces the engine sound and makes the cabin much less noisy.

photo2023.jpg

3) Neatly placed windshield washers.

photo2026.jpg

4) The Rear Parking sensors for additional ease of reversing.

photo2007.jpg

The exterior persona of Ciaz is bold and yet well balanced with swept back headlamps and the tail light cluster is good but the design could have been better. The side profile of the car gives it a massive look.

Some small missing things in the Ciaz:

1) The glove compartment light

photo2000.jpg

2) The wipers are thin. The quality needs improvement.

Finally, couple of ending shots!

Thanks for reading friends.

Some people felt the pricing is bad from Maruti. Somehow I dont agree as I can see at least 1.2 lakhs difference between almost each comparable models of Honda City and Ciaz.

Right, and Honda City itself was launched with competitive pricing by Honda. So, to undercut City variant to variant was challenging, and considering the royalty (?) MSIL has to provide to Fiat for using their engine these prices were spot on for Ciaz IMO as well.

I feel pricing is good except for automatics. I don't know why MSIL charges 1,10,000 more for outdated 4-speed AT box. Even for 7 speed DSG(+ESP+Hillhold) VW is charging 1,00,000. I was expecting 60K more than manual variant. Except for this prices are good and mouth watering especially petrol manual version. At this price this will be good hit.
