Became a fan of Stingray after reading this thread. Stingray had just launched when I bought my Wagon R Lxi in September 2013. I am satisfied with my Wagon R but the Stingray's looks always caught my attention.

Thank you for maintaining this detailed log.

Hello bro stingray91,

i have a query ... actually so many regarding audio.

I will ask them one by one, if fellow members won't mind answering.

In your 1 st post you have mentioned that stingray has 4 inch audiotronix speaker.

Audio shop technician said that wagon r have 6 inch speaker. which one is true ??

Also . in your 1 st post you said you have installed pioneer 6 inch components in front doors and in car music system upgrade section you have mentioned that you are using jbl cs6 and primus 9603is.
Which one you are using at present ??

Also while searching for 9603is .. i seen its 300w , your post says its 650w.

i am curious about all this because i have questions regarding ICE upgrade in my stingray which I will ask after your answers .

Thank You

Looks like prashant bro is busy.

Please anyone tell me just one info atleat the stock speaker size in doors of maruti stingray / new wagon r.

Thanks.
dear Viper was bit busy.

yes stock speakers are 6 inch ones, but the cone area is bit small and magnets are puny.

but the speaker provision is there for 6 inch speakers , even 6.5 inch can suit with spacers.

i noticed a oval space in another end with two mounting holes, maybe for 6x9s in other country models. but we can do a good spacer and fit 6x9 in that place, but need to sacrifice door panel to be cut. for it.

the infinity speakers are 3 ohm ones, dont know specifically.
the 650w i mentioned was for pair. each one has 60w rms and 300w max. power.

are you going for ice upgrade??
please change front speakers with coax or comp and please do use spacer, so speaker goes more near to door pad, mostly there will be a gap without spacers and sound will be less.

for rear - remove rear door speakers.
use pad in parcel tray and make a single enclosure below the pads - this supports pad rigidity and make clamps for pads to fit in place.

confirmed 80% more matured sound quality , add a 8 in sub later , factory set has sub pre out.

Thanks brother for valuable suggestions,

yes i am planning ice upgrade,

planned - infinity / polk / rockford fosgate/ pioneer TSC600in components in front door as now i am confirm that i can order 6.5 inch online.

earlier i thought for Wooden plank in place of parcel tray and instal 6x9 in that.

but i am interested in the "pad" idea of yours .... but to be true .. i dont understand the pad part, which type of pad and enclosure , and if enclosure is single, how it will look like , an example will be most helpful to me.

another question from fellow TAIgers,

i read in TAI while wandering in ice section that its good to use 4ohm speaker with HU,

my cousin brother installed JBL 950si 6x9 in parcel tray which has 2 ohm impedance , HU is sony single din, and the music is very good to hear in it.

whether it matters if i get components for front door and 6x9 { JBL 950si(2ohm) // JBL 959 (4 ohm ) // infinity primus}for parcel tray without amplifier.

I know the setup will be incomplete without amp, but whats actually this 2ohm / 4 ohm thing already installed by my brother and i am hesitant to do it.

dear viper, i have done all sorts of alteration and R&D in waggy, using multiple amps and different speakers.

whats the problem with waggy is, doors are thin and vibes can be heard.

but my current setup is. stock HU - front jbl cx with ring spacers ( doors dampened) .

rear 6x9 in box, in boot and parcel tray placed (so bass only can be heard) But sound gets equalized and rear passengers wont be un comfortable.

if you are the only person who loves music- my best option is that, make the sound stage front as possible , because , in waggy due to big area, u need many speakers to fill the effect or bass will not match in Phase each other. and u wont get that max effect.

so what my suggestion is-

go for component and fit in front doors. (use HU front out( un amped)
use 6x9 or 6.5 circle coax and make a box, that can fit under neath the front seats, facing forward or even u can use 4inch speakers. and make a custom box.

why i am crazy about this is because i have tried it, and effect was crazy huge.
bass was 200% tighter and sound was loud and clear.
but sad part is i keep the speaker box in rear passenger legroom area, facing front . as my boxes does not fit my space under seat. have to make a custom one.

another part is driver seat has a metal welding under seat to hold seat belt sensor. try to alter it to fit speaker box there.

i am 100% sure u will enjoy the effect.

and Hu has a subwoofer pre out(stock)
use a 8in subwoofer (active) in boot( you are done ) !!!.

but if you are not able to do custom under seat speakers.

try this--\

buy wood speaker pad from direct pad makers. (u can ask them in accessory shop itself)
they have a ready made for waggy.

buy it. place 6x9 in pads , screw it well.

then make a enclosure about speaker depth in bottom and make as a single enclosure for both speakers. and cut out a 1 inch hole in top, between both speakers for bass flow.

now wrap the pads with material they use for covering . u are done , cheers !!!
