Wishing to go for a Light and Sound upgrade.

So, one of my local mechanics offered a Real-tek cutout (i haven't even heard abt it..!) with phillips 100/90 bulbs for Rs 1300, 6 months warranty. Another mechanic offers the same of all phillips cutout and bulb for 1900.

Also, wanted to know, if I can add new horns to my existing setup or need to replace my OEM with the market ones ? Again, the mech showed me something Skoda-like horns for Rs 850, but insisted on replacing OEM horns.
When you cut into the cars wiring you will have warranty problems. If the installation can be done without cutting into any wiring you can go for it.

With the 100/90 bulbs you will also face the problem of yellowing of the headlamp lens as time goes by.

The best available option is to go for brighter 55/60 bulbs like Osram Night breaker, Philips XtremePower/Xtreme Vision.

These are much brighter than stock and still in the 55/60w range so no warranty issues as these do not need any relays.

Just stay away from white light emitting bulbs. These are horrible during the rains.

Rohit I use a 130/90 watt with relay kit. Initially I used 100/90 both bulbs got fused after a driver in valet parking started my car with lights on. Now I use Tells 130/90 the throw is awesome. Until a wire is cut you do not loose warranty.

Regarding light upgrade,go with branded cutout(relay) and bulbs, philips, roots, hella. Ensure (oem)Wire should not be cut,in any case, the existing connection is connected with male connector of relay wiring.Wiring kits are readily available.

Sound probably opt for non relay once.

I a....
Rs 1150.
If your going with NB or extreme vision you don't need any mechanic,it is a DIY,and quite simple, just follow your users manual, hardly takes 5 mins to change both, even who is naive.

Headlight changing instruction from users manual

Open the engine hood. Disconnect the
coupler (1). Remove the sealing rubber
(2).Push the retaining spring
(3) forward andunhook it. Then remove the bulb. Install a
new bulb in the reverse order of removal.

Hi Kalinga,

I am also thinking to change the bulbs, how is the brightness and focus of these bulbs compared to stock bulbs?
I did not change the bulb yet in my car but change the bulb for a friends car.

Low beam with Philps / NB has good through and brightness also good.

I will change my bulb to Philips EV this weekend.

The Ertiga uses H4, the details are mentioned in the owners manual towards the end page 11-3 to be exact.

Instead of buying online you can purchase the bulbs from a store for Rs900 depending on your bargaining skills.

patkar_a has mentioned all the steps needed to change the bulbs. As safety measure disconnect the battery before the installation. All you need to do is disconnect the terminals.

Disconnecting the battery is not at all necessary.
It is a good practice to disconnect the battery when doing anything with the electricals.Disconnecting the battery does cause the ECU to reset but it will prevent any short circuits.

Also when changing the bulb, be sure not to touch the glass part. This can shorten the life of the bulb.Sweat and oil from the skin can cause a bulb to blow out when it gets hot.

Update :- My Ertiga Zdi now reads 32000kms on odo.. and still roars... absolutely no performance degrades noticed. I went for a intercooler cleaning and ECR valve cleaning at 30k service and car engines noise has reduced after that, even the average is better and pick up has improved..
