Hi

What is the recommended Tyre pressure you guys are following ?
I see that Maruti mentions 3 different pressures for 1-4, 5-7 and with luggage.

My driving is mostly 1-2 for weekdays and 4-5 for weekends. once a month It will be 4-5 with luggage as well.

Just wondering if I can set single pressure for all these combinations, what would that be ?

I want to go for Nitrogen, and that is why asking this question since I dont change Nitrogen pressure for 1-2 months

Hey I do 33psi on all 5 tyres. It will be sight bumpy with you drive alone but that woul serve purpose between laden and unladen

I've had last row passengers complain about bouncy ride at moderately higher speeds when the rear Tyre pressure was set high (~32 or 33). I usually set front wheel Tyre pressure to 32 and 29 for rear wheel Tyre. This Tyre pressure has been fine for me when I ride alone or with 5 people on-board with very little luggage and a small kid. Though this may have bit of downward effect on the mileage part when the vehicle is run with 5 people within city limits, for me the passenger comfort takes precedence over mileage.

Having said that, the term "Comfort" is a subjective thing and can vary from person to person. My suggestion would be to try with varying pressures "within the recommended range specified by Maruti" and feel the difference yourself before zeroing on the "correct" pressure that you need.

I have been trying different combinations on my Ertiga over 6000kms and now settled for 32psi / 35psi for front and rear respectively. 32 psi on both front and rear are ideal if it is used primarily for 2 - 4 passengers. However I keep it at 35psi considering occasional full load (& mid row passengers don't complain of bumpy ride even if we are just 4 people on the car).

IMO, other factors that need to be taken into consideration are road condition, make of the tyre etc. Stock Good Year tyres felt bumpy with 32 (front) /35 (rear).. But after switching to Michelins ride condition is very good with above combo.

More over, from my earlier experience of maintaining recommended tyre pressures (pressure check every time fill diesel i.e every 500km interval and doing alignment & balancing every 5K), I always experienced higher tyre wear in the outer edges. Needless to say, there were no mechanical issues like wheel bearing or suspension issues. I also used to fill Nitrogen only from one single gas station (reputed) where the gauge was periodically calibrated as well. So I am experimenting with slightly higher tyre pressure this time.

But this seems to be universal problem. Any opinions from experts why outer edges wear out faster?

The outer edges of the tire wear due to less air pressure/under inflation.

Don't worry on FE now it takes Upto 2500kms to get the engine set to your driving conditions . Whenever your car is kept in open sun your car takes a while to cool. At such conditions use rear ac also because the cabin space is big you must flush out the hot air by rolling down your windows for few seconds. I live in Chennai which would be hot oven during summer I don't find an ac issue.
My mysore trip of 370 Km returned FE 17.45 Km/Liter. All the time AC on measured tankfull to tankfull method. out of 270 Km 50 Km might be Mysore city and around. The run around Mysore and Srirangapatana was without much traffic, i was able to drive in 4 and 5th Gear. So FE of 17.45 is landmark for me. I have seen in this post many Ertigian have reported 19 plus on Highway. Looking forward to achieve landmark of 19 plus. This trip was after 1st service. Any way in first service nothing was done apart from Battery checkup and general checkup plus wash. So i dont except much difference on driving, smoothness or FE. as rightly pointed out by by K!NkY it takes 2500 Km to respond to my driving style.

I did flush out the hot air for few second. I also switched on rear AC still i could feel little hot. Do i have to check with Maruti Service Advisior.

In my case driving on bad roads caused one of the terminals of the battery to come off and the AC stopped cooling after it was connected back.

When I took it to the M.A.S.S they scanned the ECU but could not find anything. The gas pressure was not low either. They just did a reset I guess and it started working there after.Make sure your battery connectors are not loose.

Had always stuck to tyre pressure recommendation from manufacturers. But I had always filled nitrogen from 'single' gas station for previous car & may be some issues with their gauge. Will get a gauge on my own and try +2psi this time. Any recommendations for accurate tyre gauges - analog / digital ?? I would prefer to buy online..

No recommendations on gauges.I think Pirelli used to make a digital one.Just buy a reputed company gauge and try to stay away from the Chinese ones.

If the middle portion of the tire wears out, it is due to over inflation. If the inner and outer edges wear out it is due to the under inflation.

If only the inner edge wears out it is due to a camber problem. There was some talk about there being a camber issue with the Ertiga. If this is the issue you are facing, please speak with your car dealer and M.A.S.S alternatively you can also email Maruti about this issue.

Our Ertiga isn't driven a lot and I am yet to face this issue myself. Please do share all the findings here, so that other members can do the necessary adjustments to their cars and offer you every bit of help along the way as well.

I have been following discussions on the rear camber setup for Ertiga. I am not noticing anything unusual on my Ertiga yet (it has also done only 6k kms till now). Since it is more than an year after launch there should good number of cars which would have clocked 30 - 40k. But no complaints on any of the forums yet.. So I am assuming there are no premature tyre wear complaints on Ertiga as a whole.

Getting back to the discussion, I will get some good gauge and also maintain +2psi above manufacturer recommendation. Around 20k kms, any unusual wear should so up.. based on which I can adjust the pressure again.. [:)]

Not everyone is tech savvy.A lot of people do not search for the issue, they check with their mechanics and try all sorts of things. Finally when they come online and do a search, they would have spent a lot of money trying to rectify an issue which is actually a manufacturer fault.

Even when the problem is identified, how many people will actually write an email to Maruti.

When i switch on the AC in my Ertiga I was hearing a SSSSSSSSSSS sound from the front AC vents. is this common in other ertigas also.
I have not heard any such sounds in my AC.Do you have the AC filter installed?

If the AC system is sucking fresh air from outside it is possible that leaves or duct could have entered the system and causing the noise.

Take it to the A.S.S and get the system cleaned. You can buy an MGP AC filter for Rs350-450 and get it fitted at the A.S.S

Try www.mgp.co.in to find the MGP store in your area.

The hissing noise is normal if it lasts for a few seconds this is caused by the liquid refrigerant turning into gas, if it continues after that it would mean you are low on refrigerant.

Leverage on the advantage of owning a Maruti car. Visit couple of Maruti service centers (they are plenty) and have the sound checked by the Service adviser or technician.

And then report back here with the final analysis.
