I guess ZDi's system already sounds good but if you are not happy then I would also suggest what freakdude has advised. Opting for better speakers will help you a lot as you dont want vibrations all round. With sub not only the rear windshield but orvms vibrate in my swift :O

So that leaves me with no other option than to keep the sound system as it is. :\
If I add a 10'' sub with 2 channel amp, will it produce bass just for good experience inside the car? Will it have affect on the speakers?
By adding a sub you'll definitely be able to enjoy the lower freequencies but if you leave the speakers stock then you'll loose a bit on music and just get sound, I guess you know what I mean to say.

My advice, still the same, get a decent pair of components (front) and coaxials (rear) for now and add a sub later when you have some vitamin M to spare. [:)]

Hello Friends!

Can you believe it, on the very first day,car was showing the average of 30kmpl at 55kmph speed at 5th gear! [clap]

*NO OFFENCE PLEASE, THESE ALL ARE MY PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS.
CHEERS!
Congratulations for your new buy. Ertiga is very good urban vehicle with reasonably good highway capabilities.

You have got diesel not petrol, never slot top gear below 80 otherwise clutch will give up prematurely and this will not affect you FE adversely. Driving will be hoot if you keep RPM in the range of 1800-2200 in city and 2000-3000 on highways.[evil] With driving style you will never have any problem with respect to engine and clutch. This is how most of Taxi innova's are driven and they last good 3 L kms at least. Recently I hired a travera in Gujarat and unbelievably it was 3.6 L km old car with original clutch. Driver was slotting top gear only after 100km/hr on highway.[clap]
Driving petrol is different where you can slot 5th gear at 45-50.
Once again enjoy and have happy mile munching.

Yes,company fitted stereo is good, Its good for experiencing surround sound quality sound, But I want lil more bass. My jvc system with xplode oval shaped speakers fitted in zen's parcel tray used to give nice bass, I miss it in door fitted speakers!

Yes, I'll first find out the power of these pre installed speakers and if its considerably less, then will look for blaupunkt/jbl.

you can easily fit a subwoofer. Avoid a basstube.
I was in search of something from which I'll save up some boot. :p

But in owner's manual too, gear ratio's are like-
Change to 3rd gear on 30-35
to 4th gear on 40-45.....?? [confused]

That's true but diesel are to be driven in different manner.
Take good care of Turbo. As per the manual there is no need for idle but don't rev car for initial 1-2 kms. I don't idle but in the morning I start the car, put seat belt, shades and by the time I hit road, its already 1-2 minutes.
Before switching off, make it a point to keep her idle for 30 seconds (my method: remove shades, unbuckle seat belt, take the laptop bag) or don't push her hard for last 1-2 kms.
DIY: Switch off engine immediately after the hard drive (AC and Music system should be off to hear this) you will hear turbo kill (grunting sound) because turbo will be running with engine off with no lubrication, this will shorten the life of turbo

Diesel are fun to drive, light on pocket, provide instant torque on demand particularly when on steep incline but take care of her. Don't go by book on few matters.

I drive in the range of 1800-2200 rpms and my FE is better than many other users and needless to say fun to drive.[clap]

I just checked it out,
I change from 2nd to 3rd gear at the speed of 20-25 and rpm reading at that time is 1800-1900
And from 3rd to 4th gear on 40-45kmph and rpm reading at that time almost touches 2000 rpm, where the turbo kicks in.
I change the gears just before the turbo, i.e. 2000 rpm.
So I guess what it matters is driving acc. to rpm but not speed in a specific gear, as it changes from vehicle to vehicle due to different gear ratios, as in Ertiga 1st and 2nd gear are short and in 3rd gear, one can drive betweenw 30-60kmph easily without pressurizing the engine, like an automatic. Bang on. [clap]
Keep driving according to the RPM, rest will be fine. This will give you best performance, car will drive like automatic with minimal gear changes. Generally 3 & 4 th gear are best for city driving, one should avoid top gear in city

If you want boot with 7 people on board, then Ertiga is not your car.
Keeping in mind, good a.$.$, good resale, best engine option, good built, I would anyday recommend Toyota Innova. You'll also get good boot with 7 people on board in it and space in the 3rd row never the less is almost the same as in Ertiga.
I think Scorpio is better than Safari, but new Safari might be better than the current Scorpio. You should wait a little for the launch of new safari.

@saby, have you done with Tefflon coating and Under Chasis anti rust coating for your car when you took the delivery?

Is it worth getting it done? I heard they wont use the actual quality materials for the Application[confused]

Congrats Ajay!!

I got my Ertiga VDI delivered on 8th of May. Next day morning when surroundings are very quite when I insert the key to turn on ( no engine start) I was hearing Hissing noise from fuel pump under second row. after a while noise went off ( once fuel pump pumped enough diesel, Stopped) After start the engine Hissing noise started again, now it is even louder then earlier. upon my query to dealer, SE came and checked, "This is very common" was reply I got from him. Next day I checked one of the test drive ZDI, there got the same hissing noise too. Can you also check and let us know?

My sales executive said that there is no need for such things and truly saying, we didn't do the teflon coating/ under body coating till now on any car we bought till now. I don't think these things helps.
I got Teflon coating done on my Activa before its delivery and on the very 1st service they asked me that is teflon coating done on it? I replied in positive and they said that they won't wash the vehicle with any surf/detergent/car wash as it will take the coating out and they suggested me to don't wash it with any liquid/surf/wash to take the advantage of Teflon coating and on the very next week I washed it completely with car wash and decided not to waste money on such crap things, rather go for a movie with that money! If you are referring me by the name "Ajay", then Thanks buddy and congrats for your Ertiga!
And I'm surprised, the same thing happened with u too! :D
On the very 1st night, at around 1 am when I was just about to leave with my friends, it was 100% silence all around and as soon as I put in the key and made the second click where the battery turns on ,some Hissing sound came and I was like wtf!! :P
I tried that thing a couple of times and every time I experienced the same thing, I was afraid that if that sound was of A/C's gas leaking out. :P
I called my friend to my place,He owns a Swift and he immediately started laughing and he showed me the same thing in his new Swift! [lol]
For my satisfaction we called the maruti 24*7 c.care no. and the person replied that the sound is of fuel pump and that I can get it checked at 8am at any nearest M.S.Centre.
I didn't care much after that and we roamed a couple of hours without any problem and yes, that sound goes off after around 20-30 seconds,it comes from the centre-rear part of the car.
Next day I went to the s.centre and they too told me the same thing that this is new tech, and this sound is of the Fuel pump.
Don't worry, keep revving! :)
Btw, did you get the air pressure checked?
I feel that the pressure mentioned on the doorside for 2-3 passengers is very less, So I filled the pressure which was for 5-7 persons, i.e. 35 in front and 38 in rear tyres.
32 in front and 35 in rear is v.less acc to me, even the average shown was v.less,so I got it increased.

Congrats Saby! I too have bought a Ertiga ZDI in Serne Blue. It's been 3 weeks and enjoying every moment of it.
On the tyre pressue - it's listed as 32 in fornt and 29 in rear for 1-4 persons. Does yours have 35 in rear? I agree that it feels like less. My car had around 38 in all tyres on delivery. I have reduced it to 32/29, but ride quality has come down. Will try with 35/38.
